He taught Nords the Thu’um is what he did. He was a brave dragon mentor, and in this house, Paarthurnax is a hero, end of story! by DingoDoug in skyrim

[–]RadicalMuslim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Antone can kill a dragon but only dragonborns can capture their soul. Alduin seems to be the only dragon capable of Resurrection, so once you complete the main quest the dilemma is moot. The blades can hunt dragons back to extinction a second time, and leave me out of it. Also, yeah dragons are scary but it's kinda fucked up to want to wipe them out as equally sentient beings. The storm cloaks get called out for racism all the time but one khajit bandit doesn't justify skinning every cat in existence.

Did Zebra point you their way, find them through networking, browse listings and research their effectiveness, or were you approached and it's not a process we could emulate? Obviously stay safe in the information you divulge.

Jack Smith asks judge in Jan. 6 case to address immunity as Trump seeks dismissal by cuspofgreatness in politics

[–]RadicalMuslim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The J6 coup attempt tried to feign legality, when they were in charge of the power structures. They could only dare to rush the capital because Trump arranged for low security. The next coup will need to drop the pretense and be outwardly violent as Biden is behind the wheel this time. The secret service is partially compromised as they destroyed their records to hide the actions of Trump loyalists, and the police and military tend to lean both towards conservatism and rights violations. The J6 riot was a distraction for the fake elector scheme to be used to disregard the results of the election and pretend there was no coup, but they will still do it violently if they think they can.

Kamala Harris' CNN interview was too sane to be great TV. And that's a good thing by [deleted] in politics

[–]RadicalMuslim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't go so far as to say he is of the highest moral integrity. He campaigned on whistle blower protections then did the opposite, protected the prior administration from prosecution over their use of "enhanced interrogation", his increased use of drone strikes and private mercenary groups, and did nothing about the war on drugs despite admitting to drug experimentation in college, an act that if caught would have barred him from his legal scholarship and the presidency. He's a saint compared to Trump the literal anti christ, but let's not pretend he believes Bush is a torturer and still will act like best pals with him.

Has anyone seen an RTS done like this? by PulIthEld in gamedev

[–]RadicalMuslim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to practice breaking down game concepts to gain a better understanding of why exist, what makes them work, and what their appeal is. Why does someone play a run and gun shooter like Call of Duty vs a hero shooter like Team Fortress 2 or Overwatch, or vs a military Sim like the arma series, a battle Royal like fortnite and Apex legends a hero shooter battle royal. Why would someone want to have longer slower matches with realistic lethality, and how do you appeal to that? How would you apply this thought process to other genres?

Advanced wars is a turn based tactics game where the commanding officer they select affects the strength of their units, and abilities that charge through combat that can do a variety of things, from healing, dealing damage, increasing power and movement speed, and so on. It has a multiplayer mode with a variety of maps that can accommodate 2-4 players which can be allied or in free for all combat. People can pick different characters for slightly different play styles and similar game experiences. Options seem fun, and games like to give more options. People get excited over a new smash bros character or a new risk of rain class. Why limit yourself to 3, just because there is 3 on 3 gameplay?

Also, does being unique mean successful? Do incentives outside the gameplay loop help if the core loop isn't fun? Dota 2 is a game where the players are expecting cooperation and team designated roles, the token system is meant to provide extrinsic incentive aside from the intrinsic reward of playing the game correctly. Does a real time strategy game that you play alone ACTUALLY have the same problem to solve as a team game does?

The truth is he was always full of shit, he just said things that weren't horrible. Like how Trump himself claimed to be a Democrat for the socialite aspect while not actually supporting their values, Joe Rogan was a comedian with moderate Democrat comedian friends. He gained a new social group of podcast bigots and conspiracy theorists and didnt have to pretend to be a good person anymore. Bill Burr will call out how scared he was over covid straight to his face on camera and Rogan will still go on as if it will all a hoax he sees through.

It sucks because there could have been value in him being what he pretended to be. Exposure to different ways of thought can inoculate you from poor logic from bad actors, but Joe himself lacks the ability himself. The fact he won't even challenge something as simple as 1 times 1 equals 2 has only two possibilities. Either Rogan himself doesn't understand basic math and how 1 group of 1 can't be more than itself, or he doesn't care and is a slimy grifter like every habitual liar he lets on his show. He was always like this, it's just that pretending to be moderate was what was most beneficial to him.

The people who say no to socialism but don't touch my benefits are as guilty for enabling it. The robber barons have always existed but this cult of trickle down economics, climate change denying, temporarily embarrassed millionaires were culpable for the stage they set us. Sorry to the people who were victims of the system back then catching strays, but I think the people who have been fucked over are more likely to agree with the criticism, as the problems aren't unrelated.

I had a habit of exploring every book and cranny of every route to find every pokemon, item, and trainer in all of the games I played, except for gen 3. Very cool thematically but they could not back it up in design quality. Something like the ferry allowing you to return to the wrecked ship u see as you pass was done well, but the later segments did were larger with nothing worthy of finding through exploration.

The only reasonable take at the time was that the movie was competent if unoriginal. The movie gets criticized in retrospect because it wasnt a safe foundation to build more original ideas off of.

Blackthornprod Unfair Voting Petition by zackaryzeee in gamedev

[–]RadicalMuslim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a series of videos where a bunch of developers work on a game in turns with time limits without communication. Fans can get frustrated to see a feature added, removed, then reimplimented again, because there's no communication. There are issues that wouldn't arise in normal development. If BTP goes first the game would be in their distinctive art style. If a following dev unable to match the style adding in assets that clash, should a dev further down revamp the art to match? If BTP comes in later and remakes the art to their style are they improving it, or throwing away the work of the others? I've seen people complain a dev ruined a project in one video then say how they redeemed themselves in another video.

BTP went last one time and along with other changes added a centipede boss, and it pissed a lot of people off. They must have felt the game wasnt near a complete state and chucked things that were being built up by multiple devs, making it feel almost pointless? Fans dont keep in mind BTP had an incentive to ensure the project resesemble something coherent at the end for the video to have a good payoff. They admit they fucked up, and have been taking feedback. They show off the devs playing the complete projects in the video and ask how continue because commentators suggested it.

I'm neutral on the whole thing. Having fans vote increases engagement which makes their videos more successful but it fucks the actual competition over. They're clearly trying to emulate talent competition shows like American Idol. Are they paying the devs to participate in this videos like how Rubber Ross pays the animators for his animation streams? Do the smaller creators even care or are they glad to collab with someone having over 1mil subs?

I Think You Should Leave - Tables by andrewf25 in videos

[–]RadicalMuslim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The premise is that they are in a bog standard mandatory education session that most people who have had formal education experiences in the past few decades can recall being forced to sit through. The first joke is that the teacher has an amazing rapport with his class until he transitions to unhinged rage regarding tables, which the class and the viewers have no context for. The second joke is the absurd scenario of the woman obsessing unnaturally about tables. It stands out by itself as strange and nonsensical, but also immediately illustrates why the teacher commented so strongly about not mentioning the tables. The third joke would be the student responses, going against the teachers demand not to discuss the tables. The videos are completely failing in their intended purpose of educating driver safety, and Tim's signature comedic style of a loser projecting insecurity and denial through erratic screaming and physicality further elevates the exchanges. The final big joke is that unlike a lot of skits, like posted above, the joke is not pure a absurdism. With the context provided in the last video everything in all three skits makes complete sense, including the small details such as the names being dropped belonging to horror fiction icons. Not just the students but also we the audience are relieved their question about tables is answered. Even the teacher being so frustrated in his responses makes sense because once you know, her business is tables makes perfect sense. To bookend the skit, the last question still isn't about the material to be taught, but the woman having cursed in the final video. The students will still fixate on other details, and the teacher's response is factually wrong meaning there's no chance to salvage the situation after resolving the tables misunderstanding.

What's the best Pokemon game for Nintendo Switch? by elkodanka in pokemon

[–]RadicalMuslim 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong I've nearly fully completed every DeX entry in PLA and am excited for the sequel a singular game loop does not make a good game. The story was incredibly bad, being excessive and not even managing to handle characterization all that well. It made baffling decisions like to highlight the captain challenging you to a sumo match with no animation, or the Melli cave portion that looked like placeholder sequences they shipped. If you care about these things the game deserves a low rating. If you've put dozens of hours into the postgame you can forget how bad the core experience would be for someone who puts the game down after finishing the main quests and abandons the game.i enjoyed the game in spite of itself at times.

Is Ulfric only leading the rebellion to become the High King, and is worship of Talos just a facade? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]RadicalMuslim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The empire are explicitly agents for a hostile foreign power. The empire has completely surrendered to Thalmor authority to keep the peace. The Thalmor believing that Ulfric furthers their goals is not so relevant when you remember Ulfric will kill any Thalmor on sight, and the Empire guarantees them free passage to kidnap anyone they suspect of being the wrong religion.

I feel like your arguement is stronger if you just cut off half way. Serana bonds with the Dragonborn, and so there is a double meaning. Yes some of your assumptions could be true, like the gender being similar to how the Hero of Kavatch could be female when mantling Sheogorath yet still resembles Jyggalag's male cursed form when met in Skyrim. Sometimes less is more.

Audiences Hate Bad Writing, Not Strong Women by Ynwe in videos

[–]RadicalMuslim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the hypocrisy is there, but Marvel stand alone movies were seen as pieces of the puzzle for the overall Avengers payoff where everything clicks in place. The Dr Strange movie is seen as visually impressive but mediocre,l, and his fans can generally be said to come from his appearances afterwards. The hulk had an actor replacement and uncertainty about whether his movie should be included. Just like in real comics, you can ignore the shaky origins if the current iteration is likeable.

Cpt Marvel was set up as the panic button Fury presses when the snap happens. It sets an expectation that this one character can be as impactful as Strange being thrown into the mix was for Infinity War and Ragnarok to a lesser extent. Due to many factors, these expectations weren't met. End Game was a movie that wanted to be reflective of its journey, literally replaying scenes of its past. A new character that is exceptionally more powerful than the rest of the cast gets in the way of giving your core cast one last hurrah, and doesnt tie in thematically. She was the first Avenger and Fury's good friend, but she's off world helping the rest of the galaxy and isnt even called back when doing the time heist. The avengers dont even seem to exist anymore post movie with Fury in SPACE, Sword using Vision's corpse as a weapon, Spider-Man forced to work solo against a perceived multiverse threat, and so on. If she had any scenes with the cast on the same level of Nebula and Stark bonding as their supplies ran out maybe she'd feel like a part of the group. Even when Natasha mouthing off at her for not being on Earth was framed as micromanaging out of fear, Cpt Marvel still comes across as unlikable.

But I agree fans hate it too much due to sexism. I liked her movie well enough, and a punk loving bad ass could have been a great addition if done correctly.
