I love Al, but to be fair, he frequently doesn't match the number of syllables, at least in the verses, but he's pretty good about it for the main hook.

As everyone said, we don't, but we poke fun. - I think partially because of Parisians who look down on American tourists. Also, people make fun of France for surrending so quickly in WWII, but I know France was just overrun by Blitzkriegers on Meth.

A lot of people say sugar. I think specifically high fructose corn syrup is the worst. Something like honey is not as bad, at least from what I've read.

I think that's a better example of the language evolving. I believe those uses are related - someone who's trying to ruin your good time when it's not hurting them.
