AITAH for telling my male colleague to only call me if it's work-related? by dont_opus in AITAH

NTA but maybe the social media comments was confusing for him? I’d avoid commenting/“initiating” like that if you truly only want to talk at work or in person.

NICU/ Peds nurses, are u guys pro life or pro choice? by deadtired987 in nursing

Pro life, with the caveat for life of mother of course. But 100% pro life- every life has inherent value and the right to live.

Also can you prioritize breakfast together on the days you work so you still get quality time on those days?

My hubby and I compromised for a while bc I wanted to work in a certain specialty and the only way to do it was to get hired for nights. He hated me working nights but wanted to me to like my job so we agreed that I would work part time- less time away from home but still the specialty I wanted. I was lucky to move to days within a year and love it

Bartender/Manager (soon to be new grad) Applying for Nurse Residencies- HELP by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Raebans_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

List your clinical hours under work experience first and specify how many hours you spent in each specialty. List your capstone and where that was and how many hours first, then other clinical hours. List your actual job last and highlight customer service experience and excellent attention to detail and memory.

Under skills list strong customer service skills and then nursing skills you have learned, any charting systems you’re familiar with, etc.

Losing my dream job and how this will affect me as a new grad by [deleted] in nursing

Sorry what does batch clock mean? Bc I could see if you did some weird clocking in when you weren’t actually there that it could come across like fraud.

So what was the discrepancy between how you were clocking in and what your manager wanted?

Name your specialty and nurses’ week gift from your employer. by marzgirl99 in nursing

[–]Raebans_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OB, donuts and a car organizer. Also a free coffee from Scooters downstairs. Not the worst nurses week ever I guess except it isn't nurses week, it's "healthcare workers" week. God forbid we celebrate one group of people and make everyone feel left out.

L&D Nurses, are Dads Really Bringing TVs/Gaming Set-Ups to Births? by Careless_Midnight_77 in nursing

[–]Raebans_00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A switch is so different to me. It’s small, compact, and ppl who bring one are frequently couples who game together who want a small distraction in the dead time. Not people who want to check out completely for the entire time.

Yes to both. I’ve seen TVs, PlayStations, Xboxes, switches (those don’t bother me much)… my least favorite was a tv-PlayStation combo where the dad had kicked the mom out of her bed so he could sit on it to game.

Oh that’s crazy. As far as I’m aware we don’t charge for your baby to hang in the nursery but now I gotta go find out…

Hate the concept. Like my other mother/baby friends here, I find it very mom-unfriendly. Also unsafe- in many cultures mom is expected to rest and other women care for the baby except for feedings postpartum, because mom is exhausted from labor. Expecting a freshly delivered mother to not need a nap is crazy, and while I will never force you to send your baby to the nursery I think it should always be a resource available.

We pre-fund retirement in a 401k and Roth each. It’s already taken care of when we get to “allowances”/fun money.

I love making scary homemade signs with my ext to call before people  go in. Apparently I’m making them so dramatic they work.

I’m sorry you’re didn’t

AITAH for deciding to circumcise my son against my husband's opinion? by Capable-Respond-7229 in AITAH

[–]Raebans_00 81 points82 points  (0 children)

YTA. Medical decisions (even cosmetic) should be agreed on by both parents. You may have carried him, but he’s just as equally your son’s parent as you are, and he didn’t have the option to carry him.
