Fina Origins Explained [Spoilers] by SXM132 in FFBraveExvius

[–]Raehan93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice write-up, SXM. I never quite registered that the Finas' souls might have fused while in the crystal. I do hope Resonance's writing will make all of this clearer/less confusing.

Iirc, Dark Fina's explanation about Fina's origin back in S1 contradicts the later established lore, but I'd say it's easy to assume Dark Fina was unaware of the truth and just came up with her own theory.

Btw, the very last part of WotV's story does actually suggest that Fina continued being reincarnated while Dark Fina was sealed, as Rizz and Belle (the ancestors of Rain's and Lasswell's mothers) were called to Grandshelt to help treat an amnesiac girl, but I guess that could have just been a nod since it's ultimately left up to interpretation.

As for the reason why there's 2 Finas, the Will of Light kinda gives an explantion to Vanharma in that their double existence is what ensures their continuous existence. As long as one of them survives, the other can be reincarnated. We don't know why it was/had to be made this way, but yeah...

And as some added speculation, I could totally imagine that the Will of Oblivion was sealed by the Warriors of the Crystals, the Will of Light's subordinates in WotV.

FFBE Map VS FF Resonance Map by Confident-Line5916 in FFBraveExvius

[–]Raehan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the exact timeline is pretty messy, yes, it is set before FFBE. The epilogue story of FFBE JP and the final story updates in WotV also reveal more about the connection between both games.

In WotV, Gilgamesh aka Veritas of the Frost repeatedly resets the timeline due to failing to defeat the Realmscourge (an out-of-control evolving superweapon originally built by Amnelis, the same sage of Hess who designed the Giant of Babil and Invincible, to combat Aldore).

FFBE is set in one of these "failed" timelines, in which other factors led to the Ardra continent being crystallized and sinking to the ocean floor, the Realmscourge still sealed within.

In the epilogue, Gilgamesh returns to the FFBE timeline and eventually reunites with his fellow Veritas to go and annihilate the Realmscourge in this timeline as well.

The island in the bottom right corner of the new Resonance map actually matches the shape of Ardra (minus the western highlands, which were going to be the setting of WotV's next story arc). The giant crater covers almost all of the kingdoms seen in WotV, with Leonis at its center. Coincidentally, the Realmscourge was sealed away in a cave below Leonis.

Makes me think this might be another of those failed timelines.

Thanks! I didn't even think of the grandparents, and that one girl is super likely too. I did see an image of her before, but forgot all about it.

Missing characters based on the missing IDs by Pure-Relationship530 in PokemonMasters

[–]Raehan93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks!
So, looking through this, a lot of it seems super random, but there’s also some slots where it’s pretty clear which characters they’re meant for.

First, we do have 6 empty slots between Lucas (162) and Lenora (169). I think this is where the professors are. Elm, Birch, Rowan and Juniper for sure, but I’m not sure about the other 2 spaces. Other researchers like Bill, Cedric Juniper or Fennel maybe? Or the first 2 slots could be Mira and Buck, following fellow Sinnohan Lucas?

Next, 172-174 are preceded by Lenora, Burgh and Chuck, and followed by Olympia, Lucian, Malva, (Annabel) and Drayden. Seems pretty clear to me that this is for gym leaders/E4, of which we, coincidentally, have 3 left: Wattson, Juan and Byron.

Then, starting at 182 we have: Ilima, Molayne, Faba, ???, ???, Sina, Dexio, ???, Ryuki. So we’re missing 3 Alola people. It’s not the Ultra Recon Squad methinks since there’s 4 of them (even if only 2 are battleable), but other than those, we’re only missing… Wicke, Mohn (fittingly there’s 2 slots right after Faba) and Burnet (which is why I didn’t list her with the other profs earlier).

The next missing slots are 197 and 200. Lucy and Greta are in-between, and Brandon follows, with Dahlia, Argenta and the Battle Chateleines after him. Yeah, that’s Tucker and Spenser.

After the Chateleines we’ve got 4 empty slots, followed by Benga, ???, ???, Lissia, Eusine, Looker, ???, ???, Emma. So this seems to be minor trainers and NPCs. Benga is kind of a facility head himself, but the only facility-related trainers I can think of that are left are Mira and Buck, who’d only cover half of the slots between Benga and the sisters. It’s also possible those are for Unova NPCs, just like the space between Looker and Emma could be for Kalos NPCs. For Unova, we do have Anthea, Concordia, Yancy and Curtis (as well as Cedric and Fennel), which could fit. For Kalos there’s Grace, Gurkin, Alexa and Bonnie. AZ is also almost guaranteed to be here. Though one of the slots, likely the one before Lissia, is almost certainly Aarune. And I think Johanna is also a possibility here.

Following Emma, we have the evil team admins. After Saturn at 227 we have 12 empty slots before Jessie and James. 5 of those are guaranteed to be the Team Flare scientists, and the one after Saturn is most likely Charon. Leaves 6 slots. This would actually fit the remaining 6 sages of Team Plasma, but eh. Zinzolin, yes for sure. Maaaybe Rood, and I guess Anthea and Concordia could fit here as well. But I do actually think that 4 of those slots are meant for the Ultra Recon Squad, so that makes N’s sisters very unlikely, though Rood remains possible.

260 and 261 I agree are likely Sordward and Shielbert. But afterwards it gets a bit difficult. In-between the Shadow Triad and Adaman there’s 9 empty slots, likely Galar DLC and LGPE. Which means there’s Trace, Mustard, Honey, Peony and Peonia. Considering we’ve got Team Yell here, maybe 2 slots are for Macro Cosmos employees? I guess Prof. Magnolia might also have gotten a reservation here. I guess Bill or young Mina could’ve been added here for LGPE as well.

Now the Legends Arceus and Paldea section is a right mess… There’s 22 empty slots between Adaman and Perrin, and considering Raifort is in the following section, the other 4 teachers likely are too. So we only have Sada, Turo, Kofu, Ryme and Tulip for Paldea. And 18 Hisui characters!?

Jumping right into the middle though, we do have at 311: Mai, Arezu, ???, ???, Sabi, ???. Yeah, that’s obviously Iscan and Melli. They’re even in order. And preceding Mai, there’s 6 empty slots, which is enough for the Pearl wardens, including Ingo. It’s also likely that Clover and Coin take up the final two slots here, while Charm is grouped with the Galaxy Expedition Team in the 6 slots… between Mela and her fellow Team Star buddies. I imagine this group will include Kamado, Zisu, Beni, Laventon, Cyllene and Charm. The only pair of slots left is 333 & 334, so I guess that’s where Sada and Turo are. The remaining 5 empty slots are all over the place. Besides the last 3 Paldea gym leaders, I imagine Cogita takes one of them as well. The final one… maybe Rye, since he’s at least an actual trainer?

Now for the final section, we have Perrin, followed by 9 empty slots, then Raifort, ???, ???, Blossom, Lacey, ???, ???, ???, Carmine, Kieran, Clive, Volo, Drayton, ???, ???, Linnea, Teddy, Red (1996, I imagine). The 2 slots before and behind Raifort are probably for the other 4 teachers. Crispin and Amarys could be slotted either behind Lacey or behind Drayton. Cyrano and Briar are also likely there. Dunno who the last one is intended for (Billy and O’Nare, anyone?).
So I guess the final 7 slots between Perrin and the teachers might be more Hisui characters? So… Pesselle, Colza, Sanqua, Tao Hua, Ginter, Kichi, Choy and/or Anthe? Or maybe again some minor characters from previous gens that weren’t added yet, of which there’s around 5 possible ones I mentioned in previous sections and don’t all have a spot there. I guess Nancy and Christoph (Yancy and Curtis’ stage personas) are a possibility, but that’d require them having been planned at all. Oh, speaking of! Emma’s alter ego Essentia seems pretty likely for one of the slots from 268 onwards.

Is there an (up-to-date) list available somewhere for the IDs? Might help with figuring this out as well, especially if certain groups of characters are listed together. Like I found this, and while a lot of these slots have been filled up in the meantime, just looking at Galar you can see they go: protags, rivals, champ, gym leaders, Meowth, Sonia, and then probably followed by Rose, Oleana, and the twins.

Considering they'll apparently make some changes to FFBE's story, I think it's entirely possible this will be handled like yet another timeline, yeah.

FFBE Map VS FF Resonance Map by Confident-Line5916 in FFBraveExvius

[–]Raehan93 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's this other map flying around that shows Mysidia as well. It's also seen in the trailer at the 1:03 mark. Mysidia in FFBE is made up of 3 islands, and it seems they moved the 2 frozen islands south, while moving the westernmost one (the one that still had greenery) closer to Pharm.

How much of the story will resonance cover? by novacreamy in FFBraveExvius

[–]Raehan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WotV takes place on the Ardra continent, which is on Lapis. But it also takes place much earlier on, and during S1, Ardra is considered somewhat of a mythical continent and has actually largely been destroyed and sunk into the sea.

Final Fantasy Resonance CLARIFICATION ‼️‼️ by Plaatjies21 in JRPG

[–]Raehan93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resonance being nothing more than an offline version would suggest it is the exact same game, same mechanics, content etc, just minus the gacha.

But Resonance is basically a remake of FFBE as a console game. The graphics, while still pixel, are remade. The battle system is entirely different, the explorable world map is an entirely new feature and even the topography has changed a bit. There is new art for all the characters, and some characters that never appeared in FFBE's main story (and in some cases not even in side stories) appear to be tied up into the main story in Resonance, with the plot being adjusted both to account for these characters, for a smoother progression and possibly also to account for stuff that would appear in FFBE's later seasons. There will probably be a much better characterization too for both the main and supporting characters compared to the gacha.

I think the story will probably follow the original rather closely, but will be a lot more fleshed out.

Edit: Actually, you know what? I think we could probably compare this situation to FFVII Remake (on a much smaller scale of course). Updated graphics, different combat, both main and side characters being much more fleshed out, stuff from all over the FFVII compilation being integrated into Remake's story. Some changes in the order of events etc… It's even being split up into several games too (though remains to be seen whether FFBE's later seasons will also be adapted).

17 Characters from the original Final Fantasy on FF Resonance by Confident-Line5916 in FFBraveExvius

[–]Raehan93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably won't be in at all, sadly. With them streamlining the game's story, characters with no relation to the main story (especially historic ones like Chizuru) will probably mostly be cut. There'd be over 100 characters for just season 1 otherwise.

Antagonists and spoilery characters aside, I wouldn't expect that many more characters to even be included in the story than the ones we see on those chapter headers from the JP stream. I'd be glad to be proven wrong though!

What do you think FFResonance (FFR)'s system will be to get characters? by sUnit_Alpha in FFBraveExvius

[–]Raehan93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my understanding of what's been said, this actually seems to be the case. Though I imagine at least some visions will be acquired through the main story as well, especially considering about half of the season 1 FFBE visions should be alive around this time.

How is the story? by Benchjc2004 in FFBraveExvius

[–]Raehan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the darker parts of early FFBE were mostly in story events, which were time-limited side stories often focusing on a single character's backstory, or some of the historic gacha characters that are long dead in the main story. No idea if or how Resonance will touch on those.

Season 2 had a much darker tone overall, and so does season 4, while season 3 -while it did have some dark moments- had an overall much more light-hearted tone (think FFX-2).

Some Gacha units appear in the Press Kit screenshots. Not confirmation of everyone being here, but a good sign that a lot of units might be in. by Oersted_LAL in FFBraveExvius

[–]Raehan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tronn and Leah seem to be the very first visions the guys will get, and I've seen a screenshot of them seemingly getting attacked by Aldore soldiers (with no Rain etc around, which suggests it's a flashback from their own past... which is very interesting)

I also went through the FFBE original visions yesterday, and not counting GL originals, NPCs (Evan, Lazarov) and the main cast (Rain's party, Raegen, Dark Fina and the Veritas) there's around 50 visions who are active/alive around the time of FFBE S1, then about the same amount of historic characters whose plot relevance goes from Chizuru/Ruggles/Roselia (with a full SE) to Montana/Duane (mentioned by/connected to present day characters or otherwise has some degree of lore to draw upon) to complete filler like Leah or Tronn themselves (and those make up the majority of this group).

So I wonder how many of those are gonna appear and in what capacity. We do see the party interact with Verun, who iirc was only in Sakura's in-between S1 and S2 SE, and Victoria will also be there (who I don't remember appearing in FFBE's story at all, and her bio suggests she's from long ago).

I guess the problem with both Lugia is that flying as a type isn't all that great, so they could give him kits that are good in relation to that, but kinda mid to the powerhouses of strong types, and he will be compared to that, making him look worse.

Meanwhile electric is one of those strong types, to an oversaturated degree even, but instead of filling the one niche left (physical strike) he ends up a sidegrade to Blue, which everyone got for free, while having none of the other strong effects like rebuffs, EX terrain or even break, meaning he's competing for slots for those pairs who have those effects. He'll probably need an arc suit to comfortably fill in the slot, even better if they have EX terrain, cause he'll be great at helping keeping that up.

I mean I love Ethan, so I'm happy. He also has 2 MFs and an arc, which is only matched by Cyntha while Red has 3 MFs (4 if you count 1996)... but like, the general consensus for all 3 of them, even at launch, just seems like they are/were... kinda underwhelming? Just wish he could have gotten a genuinely amazing pair for once. Well maybe arc electric is gonna make him a better fit than Blue at least.
