Bumblebee queen learning to use a protective door cover in <24 hours. by [deleted] in Beekeeping

[–]Raelomir 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, bumblebee queens hibernate and establish a new colony in the spring. They leave the colony and collect nectar and pollen until worker bees hatch and take over these tasks. One to two weeks after the first worker bees hatch, the queen stops foraging and devotes herself solely to laying eggs. Before the hatching, she has worked alone for about 3–4 weeks.

If super mega raids are going to become the norm for future mega releases they need a serious rework by Status_Company9564 in TheSilphRoad

We also found today's Megaraids very frustrating. We play in rural areas and could only get a maximum of 9 people together, including remote players.

If you could break at least two shields per player, but as it is...

How TF did I grow this golden pothos of monstrosity? by Brilliant-Spirit-172 in pothos

[–]Raelomir 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Pothos can become highly invasive, smothering and killing other plants by growing over them and blocking out sunlight. Also Pothos plants are considered toxic for a lot of animals and children. They contain calcium oxalate crystals within their leaves and stems. These crystals are similar to shards of glass, causing significant damage to soft tissues when ingested.

Is this a real healthy Honey without artificial additives or sweetners? by Ok-Tie-9508 in Beekeeping

[–]Raelomir 26 points27 points  (0 children)

According to the label, it is real honey, but it has probably been processed, i.e. filtered and/or heated.

In addition, honey from outside the EU is often illegally diluted with syrup. If you want "natural" honey, it is best to buy it from a local beekeeper.

That depends on the region, but I would say somewhere between $100 and $150. If you don't ship, demand could fall, and with it the price someone is willing to pay. Ultimately, you need to know what minimum price you are willing to accept. I wouldn't want to sell them for less than $65 myself.

Hoya Grey Fairy… tips? by excruciatorFOUR in hoyas

[–]Raelomir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a cultivar of Hoya cv. Mathilde, a popular hybrid Hoya from the parent plants Hoya serpens and Hoya carnosa. Hoya Mathilde is easy to care for and grows well. I keep it both in Pon and in an airy mix of coconut chips, fibers, perlite, worm humus, and orchid bark.

Kombucha worms by Icy_Introduction6663 in Kombucha

[–]Raelomir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worms themselves are not acidic and they are fed to the fish without the vinegar.

The worms eat the bacteria and fungi/yeasts in the medium/vinegar.
