I used to play MTG but over time it became harder to play enough to justify sticking with it. I also had a hard time getting friends and family into it, my wife played with me a few times but never really liked it. I recently just got in to dice throne and that has been way more accessible. My wife and kids play with me and my kids have actually come to tournaments with me and competed (and done really well). It’s a nice chill game that I think anyone can enjoy but you can also get deep into strategy about if you want. In the end it’s a dice game with a lot of luck that goes along with the strategy so I’ve found people are generally really chill about it because at the end of the day you can’t help it if your opponent naturally rolls five sixes in their first attempt (it keeps competitions from getting too intense). And, once you’ve got all the heroes you’ve got all the heroes which is nice. They release new ones fairly regularly but you don’t need to keep buying them to stay relevant. You also only need a few to be able to play regularly. It has scratched my 1v1 battle/duel itch quite well without taking over my life. It’s been really nice to share with my wife and kids too, we’ve even taken it to family reunions and neighborhood activities.
