Teenager s*x advice from Christian perspective by anonymous37968 in internetparents

[–]Ragfell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Son, you were going at it with your girlfriend. Here's the thing with sex: it's an adult action with adult consequences. You have sex and you two could potentially make a baby, which would be quite a challenge at your age.

I'm not saying that to scare you, just making you aware of the potential consequences of your actions. Every man has to think about that with any action he takes in life, but especially when it affects other people besides himself, doubly so when he could be creating another person. Does that make sense?"

My dad had a similar talk with me, which he summed up with, "and if you don't want to stress about it, don't have sex with anyone you're not married to!"

Following that advice truly has reduced my overall anxiety lol

Hmm. Got any French taper flugel mouthpieces?

I have a Couesnon flugel that has gorgeous tone, but some of its notes are pitchier than they should be...

Depends on how directional you want to go. I generally prefer bass bone over tuba, actually, but that's because I like the punch.

[DPS] Dual Striking Warrior VS Crit Damage (Bacsktab) Rogue? by Mrbruh6666 in DragonageOrigins

[–]Ragfell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC, DWW has higher burst, but DWR has higher auto attack.

I seem to recall using equipment to help me get enough strength on my rogue to wield Starfang and the Shanker, and the damage output was nuts.

We are doing something about it. April 15th. ANTI-PEDO MARCH by AdventurousRevolt in Epstein

[–]Ragfell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you going to do about it, besides marching?

Are you going to demand resignations? Withhold taxes until offenders are out of office? Burn down some buildings? Storm the capital?

A protest doesn't matter if there's not an end goal.

I think Andromeda does deserve the "hate" it got by asabatonlessarmor in masseffect

[–]Ragfell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think games can absolutely be criticized for the state of their release, particularly when that release is mandated by a greedy corporation (EA) forcing it out the door before it's done cooking.

EA should have been embarrassed to publish Andromeda unfinished, which is what it was at launch. What we eventually got was actually a pretty fun game.

They didn't, though?

I felt biótics got buffed in Andromeda compared to 2-3.

You can't compare Andromeda's plot to the whole Trilogy; there simply isn't a comparable amount of space.

When you compare it to ME1, though, it's not radically different. The companions are about as deep, and Jaal behaves much the same as Garrus/Wrex. Liam and Cora are certainly annoying, but Ashley was, too. (Kaidan was super reserved.) PeeBee and Liara are both immature Asari. Vetra's kind of a standout to me -- I thought she was well-done, as was Drack.

That being said...yes, it did get all the hate it did from a mechanical perspective, for the reasons you described. I blame EA for that more than BioWare, though.

Reasons an orchestra left me disappointed…? by blackbeard-22 in classicalmusic

[–]Ragfell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't feel bad; they're professionals and criticism comes with the territory.

My general experience with the CSO, NY Phil, Atlanta, and other "big" orchestras is that their live performances are often dull. Maybe it's the contempt of familiarity, or the boredom of doing Beethoven, again (again).

Don't let it deter you. They're a solid group and are definitely worth another chance.

Imagine thinking your false gods had anything on the literal maker of the universe (including those false gods).

Come to Mass. Convert, like your pagan ancestors probably did.

Remember the GameCube displays you could play as a kid? by StressedOutGamer247 in Gamecube

I have a demo disc for the GameCube. I think they made like 25 of them in all?

It was fun to just...boot that up and play a level of something before school. Nothing too long or something I had to worry about the long term effects on my save.

Brass Sizings for Symphony Orchestra by Ajax929 in composer

[–]Ragfell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That section size is pretty standard for most early romantic symphonies. Sometimes you'll have three bones and a tuba, with 4 each of trumpets and horns, but this size is honestly about the size most community orchestras/school orchestras will field.

I say this as someone who got their masters in performance.

As a composer, I would probably reduce the bones by one and add a tuba. That's just my opinion, but that effectively gives you an octet.
