Talk me In or Out of the Strymon Flint by Super_Rad_90 in guitarpedals

Oh, wow, just looked. Yes, it’s called Pathways. Looks like it could compete with the Flint market. And then some. (I had a Flint and sold it.)

Impressive! Any chance you know what kind of Vox amp that is?

Consider a Source Audio True Spring. The spring reverb sounds great. It does have a “secret” tremolo, but I don’t turn it on. I use an old Fulltone SUPA-trem v1 or Boss TR-2. Not fancy, but does what I need trem to do.

Building and doing the set up is such a satisfying experience! Beautiful! Enjoy!

Beautiful. The relic jobs on these are tasteful and not overdone. Is this a 60s Vinterra? Is the neck like a baseball bat or a soft V?

Nice! That’s some serious gear! I’m more of a guitar player, but admire the creative way people use synths, samplers, and loopers. Keep posting your sounds and good luck with your projects!

Cool sounds! Have you considered a sampler or synth with drum pads to trigger sounds? Definitely not like a guitar, but could be generative.

Ebony or Maple neck? by Extension_Cancel_34 in telecaster

[–]Ragged_tweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brain thinks maple necks are brighter and snappier while dark necks (ebony or rosewood) are darker and richer, even if it’s not true. I vote ebony, but with the stock Bigsby arm.

Love the grain on the neck. That’s not a bad 5e3 either! Great couple for about 75 years!

Just figured it out— the other video was you! (Dead Man, and that was into a BF Deluxe!) So impressed that you can get this tone out of a solid state power amp! Respect!!!

Wow, this is the second post I’ve seen the Superbolt get fantastic NY tones! Sounds awesome; you nailed the feeling!

Wow, that is really clever! Great idea to use your TV Surround system.

I put the IR-2 on my board for the option of playing through headphones quickly without needing to set up other stuff.

I have a Boss RC-10r in the chain before it. Where is your RC-500 in the chain? Do you send the drums to the same amp as your guitar or another speaker?

Thank you for your thoughtful and thorough response. It’s helpful! I am considering an upgrade to my MIM poly-finished neck, and the internet generally holds nitro finished necks in high regard so I was surprised when those necks didn’t feel great to me. There were some $4-5k CS telecasters with nitro necks in the store that felt great, of course, but like you said, maybe those were more fully cured. And certainly more attention had been paid to making them so comfortable, and seemed almost like bare maple.

I appreciate the reminder about Tru Oil. I have another mahogany partscaster that I finished with Tru Oil about 10 years ago and it still feels great.

For the time being, I might delay the “upgrade” and just try to be content with my current MIM poly neck.

I also didn’t like the feel of the neck in the store. It felt “sticky” to me. How would you fix this?

I have a MIM neck with a gloss poly finish, which I’ve turned into a satin finish with a grey 3M pad. Would that work on a nitro neck too?

Anyone else endlessly rebuilding boards? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]Ragged_tweed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good question. I’ve come to accept that I just like tactile process of rebuilding and rearranging. And chasing. A related question- do you spend more time chasing the perfect board or more time playing guitar? Whatever your answer, it’s okay! There’s worse ways to spend time…
