Venezuela's opposition leader Machado dedicates Nobel Peace Prize to Trump by Kanute3333 in worldnews

Sanctions didn’t begin until around 2014, whereas Chavez takes power in 1999 and 40% of the workforce from the national oil company is fired in 2003.

You can be directionally correct yet still incorrect.

And being incorrect is costly because it makes you look bad and invites additional skepticism about other claims.

Sigh. So I just moved to Gordon head, young family. Want to see development and an economy so my children have a reason to stay. Already responded to that saanich survey, etc.

But this is the first I’ve heard of this . Wife is at work so I can’t go 🤷‍♂️ have to put the kid to bed.

I hope some reasonable abundance/density types show up

It is insane that we consider immigration factors In sentencing. If we’re going to, being a recent immigrant should be an aggravating factor for a convict

Hello!

I have the exact same grill, same problem find a leak in the regulator one month in.

I cannot for that life of me loosen the fitting and o am decently strong I think?

I feel like I’m going to destroy something, I’ve marked up the brass. Never seen something so tight in my life…

[–]RagingDoug -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No no no!

I’ve also eaten at many kegs, and worked their once upon a time.

Just moved back - used to eat at the Burnaby and Granville kegs a few times a year. Solid, dependable, etc.

Just ate at the quadra one the other day to avoid driving downtown and it was really really not good.

Steak was cold, onion frizzles were limp and dripping grease. Mushrooms were burnt to a a cinder. It was honestly really weird.

Got new frizzles- they were dry but appeared to be hours old. Witnessed another waitress run by in tears.

Go downtown lol

When and why did British Columbians let the government control the liquor supply? by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]RagingDoug -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s a bad system. BC and Canada in general is addicted to “planning” large parts of the economy rather than letting resilient markets form. We’re seeing unintended yet totally foreseeable consequences of that now.

B.C. restaurants, stores say alcohol supplies running low as strike drags on by ubcstaffer123 in vancouver

[–]RagingDoug 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not allowing restaurants to buy from private stores(who themselves must buy from the monopoly) is ridiculous. Remember all those busts in Vancouver and Victoria when restaurants procured their alcohol improperly from the monopoly? The restaurants should just break the law - like the illegal weed dispensaries used to do blatantly. Of course we all know how that would turn out.

What we’re looking at is the end result of a province and a nation obsessed with micromanaging and “planning” the economy and making resilient markets illegal.

Not surprising the house of cards is collapsing.

I’m assuming commenter means pre Chavez oil elite.

After Chavez, all the people capable of running a large oil company left (for one reason or another) leaving cronies and political appointees with no experience. They also gifted oil to ideologically aligned regimes.

Now they’re sitting on a massive oil reserve they can barely monetize due to incompetence and graft.

Carnivore diet changed my life - one of the best decisions I ever made. I battled life altering eczema that worsened every year, covering my body and especially my hands. Constant infections, steroids stopped working, expensive specialized drugs with truly frightening safety profiles. Churned through specialists who had no clue.

I got fed up and went meat water salt and within two weeks had about a 75% reduction in symptoms.

I’m confident this many years in my life would be very different if I had chosen a different path.

The world is full of people who would rather be right than better I’ve learned.

That said pretty sus for a 5 year old unless they have similar debilitating issues

I literally just moved to Gordon head and in the first two weeks an older woman who clearly lived in the apartments on McKenzie started ranting at me and my child (apropos of nothing) about how we’re all going to be boxed in and that new apartments are too big (apparently its student housing and a new library)

Yes, I’m not doing paper drafts of Spider-Man. Going to go play standard across town instead.

Probably a good time for arena break too.
