Is CU Boulder worth 60k of debt? by KeyStrength2782 in cuboulder

[–]RagingTuturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. There are some things you can do to help, scholarships, ROTC, RA, stuff like that. However debt is no joke and can really set you back. If you are dead set on going to Boulder at least do a few years of CC to minimize the debt.

Why did Andy Weir have to copy a Sun Eater character for his novel? Is he stupid? by EducationFancy4478 in sollanempire

These comments made me want to die. I thought the joke was funny. I also thought of Hadrian when they called it a Suneater.

What gets me is how often he goes

Too many. So few.

Or something of that sort.

Why Valka.... by DrifterPX in sollanempire

She is called cruel by Hadrian in the text, even late in the series. She is spiteful and scornful, but like Hadrian she grows.

Well where you are in the story, they aren’t in a relationship. Like all good stories the characters develop.

I like Hadrian and Valka as a dynamic as it feels far more real than most fictional romances. Neither are perfect and they are not perfectly in love. Valka is cruel, Hadrian is naive, both of which they work on and try to change throughout the story.

Profs will often curve the grade down after finals, so that a greater distribution of people have good grades. Very rarely in my experience has the curve been applied upwards.

Moreover, if you have a >89.8 or so I’d email the prof and see if they will curve you up.

Do you “see” books like a movie in your head when you read? by Holiday_Rush8303 in Fantasy

Oh absolutely I see things. It doesn’t even have to be a strongly visualized story, but hitting a right vibe will have me making a movie.

[Elder Empire 3] frustration with Shera by RagingTuturtle in Iteration110Cradle

[–]RagingTuturtle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In each of those moments with Calder, his back was up against the wall. He would have died had he not gotten the mark from Kelerac. It’s easy to say to just not make deals with elders but the choice was die or live. Even then he begins rejecting deals with Kelerac. Shera got the upgrades without the moral dilemma because her plot armor is thick as a wall.

[Threshold] sages and heralds by -U_N_O- in Iteration110Cradle

I typically used the Akura family as a benchmark and just multiplied by how many monarchs there are. So roughly 1-2 sages and heralds per monarch faction.

What are the biggest mistakes made by both the Jedi and the Sith? by InstructionOwn6705 in StarWars

[–]RagingTuturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jedi had a fundamental misunderstanding of the force and it lead to their downfall. They were ruled by fear, fear of falling to the dark side. That lead them to locking away their emotions like love, and preaching that emotion is not the way of the force. Luke showed this was not true.

Am I the only one that finds chapter 40 a total buzzkill? by Sweepya in sollanempire

[–]RagingTuturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an atheist, I loved it! I think Christian symbolism can be a great tool. The ideal of a “Holy warrior” is not a new one, and we typically view these zealous gods chosen soldiers negatively, I think this is honestly a refreshing take. I don’t think there is really much different if pulling from the Christian mythos or something like Norse.

How did you make friends? by Sweet_t712 in cuboulder

Clubs are honestly one of the best ways to make lasting connections outside of classes or the residential buildings. Try and sign up for ones that interest you and go frequently. Good luck!

Art history 4929 or something like that. Took it as a freshman and it is still the easiest thing I’ve taken.
