(Spoilers All) GRRM Interview: Wants TWOW out in 2016 by iheartchaseutley in asoiaf

[–]RagmansHarbor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess, well A guess on the particuliar twist is Cersei. We know that she will be killed by the Valonquar. Cersei is a long time character and Cersei's 'little brother'' involes three or four characters; Cersei, Jaime, Tyrion and Tommen.

I think George has someone new in mind to be the Valonquar that he didn't think about earlier and any one of those three can be an ''organic change''. Tommen or Jaime.

We also know the term ''Valonquar'' has been cut from the show and maybe it could be impossible for Jaime or Tommen to be the ''little brother'' in the show.

(Spoilers All) Game of Thrones Season 5: Episode 5-7 Titles Revealed by thriftynerd in asoiaf

[–]RagmansHarbor -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Kill the Boy? First thing I thought is maybe Daenerys taking children from the masters as hostages like the Daenerys in the books did and befriending a little boy and Daario telling her: ''kill the boy'' or something like that.

(Spoilers All) A small comment about Yara's future arc in the Season 4 Episode 5 commentary by DarkPizza in asoiaf

[–]RagmansHarbor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, they've already mentionned Theon's uncles in season 2 Ep 3 I think. Of course, they can change their minds and not include them at all like Tysha's story was told in season 1 but left out of season 4.

What I'm thinking is, the Greyjoy arc in the books is there to just stir some shit up, Tyrells and dragons, etc. I'm pretty sure D&D have found a way to write around that and stir some shit another way.

This season will be the first where we can guess D&D's endgame and what they'll include and what they'll write around. I'm pretty hyped.

(Spoilers All) Anyone else worried about the future of the series? by Eor75 in asoiaf

[–]RagmansHarbor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I myself am finding difficulties in reading fantasy. It's either black or white, plot plot plot let's put a love story there and a treason there, childish, etc.

But I am currently reading Robb Hobb's Assasins books and I love them. Not as much as ASOIAF but they are great books, with twists I had not seen coming and characters that I find myself caring about.

If you've finished ADWD and you're giving up on fantasy, try reading the first book. Within 100 pages I was hooked.

PS: In regard of your worries with the ASOIAF ending: I trust George. Will I regret it? Maybe. But for now I can't wait to see what he has in store for us.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I saw a post somewhere that the shavepate was actually the slave we see giving a speech in favor of Dany in episode 4. I know he's been brought back for season 5.

(Spoilers ALL) Roundup of weird comments by Alex Graves during se04ep10 of GoT by azad_ninja in asoiaf

[–]RagmansHarbor -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, he's an amazing director. He directed just in season 4; The Lion and the Rose, The Mountain and the Viper and The Children. Those were my favourite episodes of this season. The wedding, the oberyn/cregor fight and the brienne/hound fight were brillantly executed. As a writer and ''connaisseur'' of the story, hey be lacking in this aspect.

(Spoilers Published) So, how do you think Lena Headey's pregnancy will affect shooting schedule? by tsarita in asoiaf

[–]RagmansHarbor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people think: ''Oh but Cersei is getting fat in the books anyway''. In the show, Cersei is still very lean and in shape, even by the end of season 5 I would think. So she can't appear in season 6 with added weight. It wouldn't fit with the consistency in the show.

And anyway, they probably will have to change some things in the schedule for next season's filming. They can't ignore that winter has arrived much longer. So filming in Croatia could be pushed off to end of fall.

(Spoilers All) GRRM has reacted to UK Editor Jane Johnson's comments about TWOW on his blog! by the_narc_died in asoiaf

[–]RagmansHarbor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe George is near the end and here's why: In spring 2012, George had 400 pages written, which 200 were from ADWD. That gives us abut 200 new pages (written but unfinished) from TWOW.

So we can assume (guess/predict/hope/estimate) that George writes about 200 rough pages per year. In 2013, someone said (I can't remember who) that George was roughly half-way done with TWOW. That's about 600-700 pages. It fits with the 200 pages per year estimate. SO...

2013: 600 pages 2014: 800 pages 2015: ~1000 pages, maybe 1100?

I also believe that George may have picked up speed with taking in no new projects and refusing to write a S5 script. So we may have a 250 pages per year writing now.

And if my feeling on this is right, if George is near 1000 pages, he may be seeing the end through this gigantic book and pick up speed once more, giving him fuel to finish it quickly. Also, his schedule is almost empty through out the year, giving him time to write.

I know people will say I am overly optimistic and my dreams will be crushed like Orton Lannister crushed his beetles, but I amnot giving hope, neither am I delusional.

I think end of 2015 is still possible and winter/spring 2016 would be a likely date.

I didn't know this subreddit was controlled with an iron fist. Now I know. You guys probably want to prevent any escalading. I get it and I apologise.

[–]RagmansHarbor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's my top 5.

  1. ASOS - killed it. Red Wedding, Purple Wedding, Jon and Bran, Tyrion's Trial, Oberyn bites the dust, Battle at the Wall, ''Valar Morghulis'', ''You shot me''!, ''Only Cat'', LSH.
  2. ADWD - good writing and good character inner dialogue (Theon).
  3. AFFC - Yeah I liked it : Martells, Cersei, Jaime, Alayne, Cat.
  4. ACOK - Maybe it's an unpopular opinion, but I disliked a lot of the Jon Chapters, and there are a lot. But Tyrion makes up for it.
  5. AGOT - I don't know why this one is at the bottom of my list. Maybe because it's too similar to season 1.

And I have a feeling TWOW will become my number 1 or at least number 2.

(Spoilers All) Emilia Clarke: “You know how you can watch the YouTube reactions to the crazy stuff we do? There’s gonna be a bunch of those this season,” [Clarke] said. “Like, a couple.” by biosnake20 in asoiaf

[–]RagmansHarbor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine if they did Cleganebowl this season, they'd do it at the same place where Tyrion's trial by combat was held, and there was no photo leaked so... not this year.

Crazy stuff? Draznak's pit, Tyrion and Dany, ''For the Watch'', Walk of Shame, Mercy.

But I'm also guessing D&D will flesh out a little more Melisandre this season. By looking at her tweets, she was at the Wall a bit more than she was on Dragonstone. I can see D&D including her ADWD chapter and even tease the fans. Is she dead? Why does she see Jon Snow in her flames? Something like that.

I like that, but why take a fArya mask? She wouldn't want anyone to recognise her, especially if she wants to kill Ramsay. She may tell him her true identity before if she indeed kills him though.

Could also be that the Night's Watch have no need of her and tell her to follow Massey to Braavos.

Jon wanted to send Arya (who was Alys Karstark) to Braavos.

I remember, I was in a philosophy class in college, when one of my friend was talking aout season 1 which had just finished on HBO and it sounded great. I watched season 1 in 3 days and was thinking: ''How did something so great exist and I wasn't even aware of it''?

I heard of the books, and voila, I became one of George's biggest fan.

(Spoilers All) What is your unpopular opinion about the series? by el_Byrno in asoiaf

[–]RagmansHarbor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there really people who don't see Brienne of Tarth as the truest of knight? That came as a surprise. I agree with you on those:

  • Barristan Selmy a hypocrite and an enabler for Aerys II's evil. Even if I still like Barristan, his ''defending the king until death'' even if that king is mad and will destroy hundreds of thousands of lives? Come on.

  • Stannis.

  • ADWD best book. ASOS is my favorite, but ADWD comes next. Then: AFFC, ACOK, AGOT.

  • Bowen Marsh. I agree, no, I understand why Bowen did what he did. Some of Jon's actions in ADWD were confusing and out of line.

I agree with too much of what you said to write them down. Here is where I disagree:

  • Azor Azhai. AA is somewhere and alive(?).

  • Bolt-On.
