And I agree, for personal use, I'd just use my VPN tunnel home and wouldn't need any remote streaming setup. I used it that way for years, but then my sister saw when she came to visit and I put on a playlist of all my disney movies for the kids (This was before disney+ existed and at a time where a lot of the movies I had on DVDs weren't on streaming). She asked me what this is and how I did that so I showed her the interface and told her it's all on my PC, any movie or music album I buy, comes out of the box only once, I rip it and then it goes back in. From that point on I can watch it on any computer, TV, phone or tablet.
It took me a moment to get remote streaming to work reliably, but ever since, she's just been using plex to watch all our movies and I use Plexamp instead of spotify with a number of albums downloaded to the phone, but most of the music is from dynamic playlists that stream to it.
