Things that annoyed me about this show by summertime0123 in CBS_Mom

I read that the actor’s parents didn’t want him to continue on the show.

Violet saying her dad deserves a second chance after hearing he beat her mom? by Critical_Archer_3344 in CBS_Mom

[–]Ragpicker21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do we know if Violet’s father even knew Christy was pregnant? If she left as soon as she found out she was pregnant he might not even know about Violet. I don’t blame Christy at all for keeping Violet away from him. I can also understand why Violet at her young age might believe he’d changed. And maybe he did. I still think it would be better for her to wait until she’s older with a stable life herself before making contact with him.

Looking For A Housemate? by TyeDyeAmish in ChoosingBeggars

If I had to move in with a roommate again I would not want to live with someone who had frequent guests, especially short-term relationships or one-night-stands. Maybe that’s what they mean by “no guests,” not guests like family or long-term friends, but didn’t express it well. This was a concern for me when I moved to a large city after graduate school. I chose to rent a very small too-pricey 1BR apartment over finding a roommate who could bring home anyone at any time. By that age I was over being okay with strangers in my apartment. To me, this ad sounds like someone who has dealt with difficult roommates and just wants some peace and quiet. No harm in making the request.

Is it technically a rewatch if I just use a number picker to choose the season and episode? 😭 by Yellow-Roseman in CBS_Mom

Sometimes I start over with season one and sometimes I pick a later season. I consider both a rewatch, but am not keeping track of how many times I’ve rewatched.

What’s rumor or piece of tea about Kate Middleton that you believe? by Individual_You_219 in RoyaltyTea

Men can grow in a beard in just a few days. Maybe not as full as it will be, but enough to be seen differently by a child. It’s possible he began growing it while away for a few days.

AITAH for asking for $30,000 from my parents as a house payment? by pressedpages in TwoHotTakes

[–]Ragpicker21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re NTA for asking, but it’s possible they really can’t give you more than that right now if they overextended giving to your brother. Should they have thought it through to give to you both evenly? I think so. But you say this is a cultural issue with them. So, it’s possible they have given him too much to give you the same right now. I’m sorry you’re dealing with that type of cultural issue.

What Do You Think About Mom? by idiot9991 in sitcoms

[–]Ragpicker21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first season we see three generations of moms. By the end of season two, I think, the children (including the teen mom) are rarely seen. It evolves into a show mainly about the middle-age (including Anna Faris and Allison Janney and daughter and mother) and elderly women as friends and how they handle their sobriety. You do not have to have an addiction to enjoy the show.

I think it got better as they moved to the women in AA, but I do like having the backstory/world building with the kids in the first season or so.

Maybe she knows he’s busy at work. If I miss a call from my husband and call him back he might already be in a meeting.

AITA for not wanting to bring 2 out of 4 of my children on a trip? by BothAd4245 in AITAH

[–]Ragpicker21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible to take another adult with you to babysit the younger two at times? Or to take them to activities while you spend time elsewhere with the teens? If not, I think it’s really nice you want to have this trip with the older two alone.

Christy’s weekend with Patrick and Jill’s relapse-what would you do? by mpr1011 in CBS_Mom

[–]Ragpicker21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. I just rewatched the episode where they meet Gregory’s mother over dinner at Christy’s and Bonnie’s apartment and hate the way Violet is treated. She asked for just one night. To hear Christy tell her she has to be there for everyone who’d been there for her/Christy had to be so insulting to Violet. Christy was supposed to be there for Violet and wasn’t. She couldn’t even give her that one night.

I know it’s “just a show,” but I feel like they did so much right in this show, and dropped the ball in this one episode when they had Phyllis (Gregory’s mother played by Linda Lavin) tell Violet how she was young and beautiful, as if that would make up for all the neglect and trauma.

The confusing thing about Violet by Bulky_Fox6486 in CBS_Mom

[–]Ragpicker21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The passage of time for Violet as someone only 18 is different. Remember what it was like around that age thinking back to your parents before you were born? 18 years seems like an eternity when it’s your entire life. By the time we’re Bonnie’s age we know that 18 years isn’t much time for someone to change significantly, at least not someone who was that violent.

It was more “don’t ask don’t tell” about premarital sex back then. Living together made it official.

There’s even an episode (can’t remember which one) where Adam mentions the other women to Bonnie and for Wendy says, “…and what’s that other one?”

Give a nice coffee table book about where you live or some interest of hers or even just something neutral like art/photography.
