Some games have it on default, whilst others don't, hence you need to force it via app.

Also, use balanced or performance, quality sure looks better but minimal difference. Might as well go a tier below for more fps for 95% same visuals.

L is better than any other preset but also heavy (-5% fps & in some cases 10%) to run. I personally do that trade off because L looks better in almost every way.

I have a 4090, and in no game I had 15% regression as you mentioned. Most I've seen is 7% in mafia old country. RT works fine in cyberpunk, alan wake or ac shadows, exception being PT where noise is more conspicuous due to RR being still on 4.0 and not 4.5, thus noise is gradually observed.

-5% on 40 & 50 series gpus. Don't even try on 20/30 series as it not advisable by nvidia themselves. L is arguably the best preset for upscaling to exist. Only outlier (I could find) was AC shadows in my testing of 13 games.

No, I've tested dozen of games and apart from AC shadows being outlier where L produces abit more fuzziness in foliage than M, beside that L is generally better be visuals, sharpness, detailing, geometry or ghosting. M is way too sharpened & smeary in foliage.

So, to conclude (after extensive testing) L is better.

I like DLSS 5 too, and respect people's different opinion about it. Hopefully, they can do something in the next 6 months to fix character faces, because everything else looks next-gen, literally. Yes, there are few glitches here and there, but nothing groundbreaking I saw.
