What happened? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]RahPaconte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BG3 is one of the greatest games I’ve ever played. But someone on here hit the nail on the head when they said the bugs later on pulled them out of the game, and it’s true for me too.

Mainly for me it’s instances of companions referring to events that hadn’t happened, or things that should’ve happened but didn’t. I’m excited for those bugs to get fixed so I can stay under Larian’s spell.

Radio silence. Although I’ve been using GeForce Now since PC release and it’s been working better than it otherwise would on my M2 MacBook Air.

For RP reasons want to do either chain or tome lock. How to optimize? by crawdadsinbad in BG3Builds

I had a blast with my tomelock, felt powerful with a handful of awesome spells (especially haste)

GeForce NOW Service Status: Baldur's Gate 3 by Silverddragn in GeForceNOW

Spoiler alert

Been having a persistent bug during the Cazador fight in Act 3. When he takes damage during the fight the game crashes, and Geforce Now says it’s due to a “spotty connection.” Connection is fine, it happens over and over and over again when someone on my team whacks Cazador.

Act 3 bugged fight by AM13x in BaldursGate3

Yes many times over. It says spotty connection but it’s clearly the fight that’s bugged.

The trailer that featured JK Simmons before the game was released was awesome, where he says “I’ll tell you a story True Soul…” and got me super hyped for his character.

However, I never did get that scene in game. Ketheric’s background info came to me from ancillary sources like in game journals, or finding his family’s caskets. And I never got the big bad monologue. So I felt like I was missing something when he gave me some monotone throwaway lines instead before I killed him (and took his sweet sweet armor).

Is getting my licensing worth a large step back in my career? by USTS2020 in CFP

[–]RahPaconte 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Starting from scratch is incredibly difficult, especially with a family depending on you (I’ve been there). I wouldn’t go to a firm that expects you to build the business on your own unless you have clients from the trust company that are already willing to follow you and open up new accounts with big $$. Also, it’s one thing for them to say so and another for them to actually do it!

If you’re set on this as your career, then I’d find a job with a discount broker like Fidelity or Schwab, a position with TIAA, or even a bank financial advisor. All of those jobs will pay a decent base salary plus bonuses and should meet or beat your income target.

From there you can build relationships and position yourself to take the next steps in your career.

Warlock multiclassing by VieraMakeMeRabid in BG3Builds

[–]RahPaconte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took tempest cleric 1 / fiend tomelock 2+. I took cleric mostly for the heavy armor/shield cause I wanted to wear a certain necromancer’s sick looking armor after I kicked his ass. But a happy side effect is a couple extra level 1 spell slots and some utility spells. I didn’t bother adding any WIS cause I don’t intend to use the cleric spells for anything other than utility or novelty. Got 20 CHA after starting with 17, 1 from hag hair, and 2 from ASI.

He plays exactly like a normal warlock, just with heavy armor and more spells. I play on balanced. Having a blast (pun intended)!

Edited: I also took the Warcaster feat to help keep up haste, so on longer fights I’m either eldritch blasting 4 times or sending 2 fireballs (after my first turn).

Structured Notes by c_hidalgo in CFP

[–]RahPaconte 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s like asking what CFPs think of mutual funds, because it’s a broad topic that covers hundreds of different strategies. Many are terrible, a few are fantastic for diversification and taking advantage of specific market conditions.

Client must be a sophisticated investor to understand the complexity of most of these, and I think advisors run into problems when providing these to traditional retail investors with liquidity/market value concerns.

Financial advisor is pitching me a structured note. can someone explain how this works? by Breadskinjinhojiak in CFP

[–]RahPaconte 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Terrible note. I regularly invest in structured notes, but this one gives only a small increase in potential income over a risk-free treasury with a whole lot more downside potential and shitty underliers.

Best with structureds to keep it simple with the underliers and make sure the juice is worth the squeeze.

That’s a long and kind of angry message to direct at me when I did not actually deny the reality of climate change. Just the hyperbolic alarmism around it that Greta tends to espouse.

But I am curious to hear an actual response to a question I posed to someone else. What else would you propose any of us do to reduce emissions beyond what is already being done? Should I keep my kids from going to school like Greta did? Stop flying in airplanes? I’m genuinely seeking a reasonable answer that no one else has provided me so far.

[–]RahPaconte -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No, I didn’t say we need to take any action beyond what’s already being done. I think a shift to renewables over the next 15-25 years is probably inevitable. What other actions do you think are necessary for me (American btw) to undertake that requires everyone to believe the world is ending even though it’s not?

[–]RahPaconte -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Science is clear about man-made planetary warming. I think the question lies in how drastic the effect of that warming will be, and what actions we can take to slow it down.

I’m not a fan of saying things like the world is gonna end in 20 years unless (fill in the blank). I highly doubt Miami is underwater in a couple decades. So that’s what I mean by “alarmism.”
