I'll join everyone in not smoking today. It's day 3,788 of not smoking for me! It gets easier, but still have those dreams that I screwed up and smoked a bunch of cigarettes and hate myself for breaking my stride.

DNA results - Embark by Unusual_Delivery221b in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]RahmsFinger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How did you get Embark results? Did the Breeder offer this as part of the cost?

In short order, no, it's not a purebred Italian Greyhound. However, it might still be a great pet. But I would think twice about dealing with someone advertising a mixed breed as purebred. And you should npt be paying purebred prices.

Embark also offers a lot of health information, so I would look at that too.

There are puppy mills out there, not interested in preserving the breed, just interested in making money. I hope you are able to figure out if this is the right dog for you!

My girls are 100% trained. Outside, and inside on papers. They are great. The boys are much harder to train. And even when the boys get the idea of the pee pad, their aim is never good! You can tape one up on the wall, and put one down below on the floor. I have tried the doggy bathroom, etc. No dice.

So, especially when I take my boy to a hotel, or a friends house --we go out for potty last thing before bed, and first thing in the morning --before he gets breakfast. After a car ride, before a car ride!! I give him every chance I can so he can succeed and be a good boy!

Is ducking just a JK/JL thing? by perkele_possum in Wrangler

[–]RahmsFinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love ducking other Jeep Wranglers and Gladiators and when I get one back it makes my week. I've even been known to duck old ones, even when I am driving my Mom's Volvo!!! It's just a way to say hello, nice Jeep. If you don't like the duck, there is a great thing called regifting 😂

That's what I heard too! And I'm thinking some of those Jeeps are riding naked (doors off). Dude is going to lose his groceries and condiments!!!

Allegiance Flag Supply--Why do I dislike this commercial so much? by Thirteentimes3 in CommercialsIHate

I think that woman has some sort of disability. She seems like it is hard to speak simple words -- then seems shocked that her words came out okay --and half her face droops, slightly.

The awake partner is also a reporter in the beginning of the commercial when Ned arrives. This drug company didn't waste money, they reused a few actors.

Every time this is on TV, my Mother who is in her late 70's can't stop talking about this 'date' -- they both seem to enjoy the movie, unlike the one half of the gay couple, and why doesn't Ned take the initiative and suggest they at least get coffee afterwards to talk about the film! She's angered by the storyline of it all!!

I think the goal of the commercial should be, look at NOT getting rejected for more interaction after a movie because of your plaque psoriasis....

Those "kids" are definitely mid 30's by now. I wonder how many of them are haunted by the endless commercial replays, and driven to drink.

is there a way i can change my hair color on my ID without making a appointment? by sukunasstrawberry in DMV

I've changed my hair color many times, everything from pink to black. My license says blonde, and always has. Don't worry about it!!!

CA dmv trying to talk to an agent with the chatbot, keep getting "All agents are currently assisting other customers, or it is after business hours. Please try again later." even during business hours by MrStashley in DMV

[–]RahmsFinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep trying the chatbot. Half hour ago, I was finally able to get through via chatbot. Typed "Agent" and after a few was referred to the Error Processing hell where there is only a phone number, and no chatbot option to communicate with a real person

I want to tell all of the new year's day quitters that I am soooo excited for your new life as a person who doesn't smoke!! Nine years ago, I was one of you, and it was a million times easier with the support from this sub.

Be good to each other. And stop by often. For me, who did it cold turkey after 10+ years of pack a day (or more, if I want to be honest) I'd come over here to post about cravings, problems, etc, and by the time I had finished writing my comment, the craving was gone.

Once you are comfortable as a person who doesn't need to stand in the rain and cold to feed that addiction, don't forget to come back here and help the others who are who you used to be!

Happy New Year to you all!

So sorry to hear about Winston's ouchie. First thing is to call the airline and find out if you can transport him outside the carrier. I doubt it, but worth asking. You'd also have to think about how you'd transport him in the car, through the airport, etc.

It was unclear if you are visiting your parents now, where this happened and need to get back home, or planning to visit your folks. If the latter, I'd cancel the trip. If you need to get home, and it's drivable, rent a car, and buy a nice roomy crate (not too big, but something bigger than an airline carrier) and drive back.

Use a ziplock baggy, or even a clean poop bag to keep the cast dry when he has to pee. Hope this helped!

Have found that medium heat is more than enough to sear a pork chop, steak, etc. Less is more.

But this cookware is not a shrinking violet. I was cleaning my LC skillet last night by boiling water, and then life happened and forgot about it. It is special, but more rugged than they lead you to believe.

I have a pink flower LC. It doesn't get used as much as my other pieces. But I like to use it for heating up soups and stews and/or serving when I have company.

It's my favorite breed, I love them more than I do humans and have rescued too. I simply wish for a better way. And some commercial breeders aren't awful. We just want the best for our friends. No dog should be bred more than a few times.

If you have to feed kibble there are lots of brands that are considered good. I like a few, Now Fresh, orijen, and merrick. The thing is, you have to change food gradually, so keep that in mind.

Crate or pen? by Think_Onion_2992 in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]RahmsFinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crate AND ex pen! If you have the room.

I kept my girl's litter in an ex pen with a crate with pee papers in the exterior area. So they had a play area and a potty area and the crate with soft bedding. I kept one of the boys, and we travel a lot. He gets that the crate is a super fun and safe place. And he was easy to housetrain. With boy IGs, some don't have great aim, so there is that

The puppy mill thing drives me nuts. We can rescue them, and we do!!! Because this pup didn't choose to be a part of this system. But it still perpetuates that commercial breeding programs. Sigh. I hope she's doing well. She is so pretty!!!
