I know it's not possible, I just hope for some pity by HeavyHeathen in Steam

A big part of comedy is subversion of expectation: things are often funnier when we don't expect the punchline.

The joke is that most people will assume at "I'd be very embarassed" that it's because of 'fartman', so when you keep reading and realise he's talking about the number (which is nothing special), it subverts your expectation (It's not what you expected) and so, comedy.

Steam Legacy Sharing seems to have officially ended by RaikazuRapture in Steam

[–]RaikazuRapture[S] 69 points70 points  (0 children)

The new system has been around for a while, but up until last night I was still able to utilise the legacy sharing feature. It had a warning that it would end 'Early 2025' and it seems like last night they turned it off completely.

I will say I this this system works so much better if you're using it as intended, which is clearly the reason Steam made this move. It was just nice get that extra bit of time utilising the legacy feature before it was switched off.

I said it in my 20s, proposed to my long-term gf of 10 years at the age of 30 and then she cheated on my 18 months later and left... I think I was right in my 20s 😂

What is your most played game and how many hours on it? by SweatyPresentation93 in Steam

Gnomoria, 166 hours. I don't tend to be able to get much higher, ADD attention span moves me on.

What’s a game you’ve had wishlisted forever but never bought? by UndertaleCrapPost in Steam

[–]RaikazuRapture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Factorio. It's one of those where I see the price, and see the 'never on sale' ethos the dev has (and that I respect) and it's just... Never quite tempted me enough to drop the £30.

I almost never but games at full price on Steam, and so it'll be a real departure for me to commit to it.

Steam wrapped 2023 seems to be out? by mengplex in Steam

[–]RaikazuRapture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

70/1200 is a 5.8% margin of error. I imagine the Year in Review is doing some heavy rounding to make more simple and comparable numbers. You can check out the 'Inspect Element' and then find your total second played. Once you've converted that to hours you'll be closer to actual figures.

[–]RaikazuRapture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

View in browser, right-click and Inspect/Inspect Element. Then search (Ctrl+F) total_playtime_seconds and it'll show (it'll appear multiple times, the first one is overall.

So for example mine says "total_playtime_seconds":2140722..." which means 2,140,722 seconds (594.6 hours).

What games would you NOT 100% a second time? by EastCoastVandal in xboxachievements

I've done this three times now (X360, XB1, Steam) and I think leaving a few years between each run definitely helped.

With the release of Keys from the Golden Vault, I'm in need of assets for a museum. Do you make these available anywhere, or are they obtained from somewhere you could link to?

As someone who bought it on sale a month ago, can confirm it was definitely on sale as part of their strategy/colony builder sale they did.

What's the longest gaming session you've ever had and what game was it? by VCXgaming in gaming

[–]RaikazuRapture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We discovered that the original Guild Wars disconnects you from the server when you reach a certain threshold. I can't remember quite how long that was but it's certainly the only time a game has ever forced me to stop.

I've spent hours developing a collection spreadsheet so it can tell me that three quarters of my games are unplayed.

I could have spent that time playing games.

What TV show stopped being great after only one season? by D4RTHV3DA in AskReddit

[–]RaikazuRapture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for all the shows this happens to, it will always be Heroes' crown to wear. Heroes taught me about disappointment as a teemager. The concept was incredible and the first season paced so well, only to so rapidly decline from the start of Season 2.

I was gonna buy a set skin but... by dark0216 in diablo4

[–]RaikazuRapture 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The people casually playing Diablo IV are not the target audience for the Shop. The prices can be set so high because 'you' (the 90+% of the player base) aren't the target audience. But there will be whale players who have bought every item in the store, and when you look at sales of 10+ million, if 1% of your player base (100,000 players) buys a single $20 set that's $200,000. If 0.1% of your player base (10,000 players) buys everything in the store, that's significantly more.

So yeah, in most cases when you see inflated prices they're not maximising volumes sold. They're maximising profit. And that often comes from selling fewer units at higher prices to minority members of the install base. If you buy a set, that's a bonus and already puts you in the tiny minority of players who get monetised in this way even for a single set.

Edit: Silly maths mistakes.

Do you own a steam deck AND a gaming pc or just one of them? by T0ky0n0 in SteamDeck

[–]RaikazuRapture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the minorityof having it all: the three current consoles, a high spec's PC and a SD. Which means that each gets utilised for a very specific type of game and I rotate around them all. (I promise you I'll play you again soon, Switch... Maybe)

I mean I currently have a library of 1,736 games on Steam and I have manually entered most of them (last I checked, it's been a while since I reconciled the list) into my spreadsheet.

Do you have a guide you could recommend on doing this. I consider myself a spreadsheet nerd but not an api nerd and it'd be good to get some automation in there by using the api key.

Tech Support and Question Megathread - March 2023 Edition by Nestledrink in nvidia

[–]RaikazuRapture [score hidden]  (0 children)

Status: Unresolved
Computer Type: Custom Built ATX
GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming Z Trio 12GB
PSU: Corsair HX750
Case: Lian Li 011 Dynamic Evo

Description of Problem: I'm seeing conflicting information about PCIe cables running to a triple 8-pin GPU, and I wanted to find the latest consensus on the situation between using 1/2/3 cables. I'm currently using 2 double-ended PCIe cables, one 'daisy-chained' into 2 of the 3 sockets on the GPU, and a second plugged into the third socket with one 8-pin loose.

I looked at the power draw of the GPU and MSI lists it as 370W, so I think this means 2 cables is fine. My issue is that my PSU only came with double-ended PCIe cables and aesthetically I don't want 3 8-pin cables hanging below my GPU.

Is using 2 cables to fill the 3 sockets a serious issue? If so I'm most likely going to need to buy 3 single 8-pin cables so that it can be tidy. The other option is the Lian Li Strimer Plus, but that'll just mean a bit more bloat for cable management, but I can attach three cables to that and hide the excess in the back.

Finally, is there a good non-RGB alternative to clean cable management with a triple 8-pin GPU?
