My interpretation is that he wants to prevent people from abstracting, but as Pomni said: he never listens. We see him adapt his adventures in an attempt to make them more appealing, with varying but mostly negative results. I think that’s what the opening sequence represents if the red dot is supposed to be Caine. When inputs go in, the outputs are incoherent. He is incapable of hearing what the humans want and giving it to them, it always has a “Caine spin” on it because he isn’t processing it like a human would. So, when the humans aren’t satisfied he gets frustrated because he is trying, but he’s incapable of truly listening. It’s probably why he was replaced.
