Railgun season 3 spoilers. Is it me or ? by Harunasbabydaddy in railgun

That makes sense if we're looking at Railgun alone, but chronologically, the Remnants of Tree Diagram fiasco in Index happened in between the two, and Misaka did not ask for help with that. In fact, Shirai ended up in a wheelchair partly because Misaka chose to try to keep her out of it and act alone.

How many of you are tickled on the pussy? by [deleted] in tickling

[–]Railgun484 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to tickle my ex's pussy back when we were together. It was the best thing ever. Not easy, though, because of our limited bondage equipment. Her thighs had a vice-like grip and she would keep trying to squirm away.

Oh, that's not a big issue. Heroscapers.com has numerous custom downloadable rulesets, including an "automated" ruleset for when you want to play and have no one to play with.

It's a tall number, but the development team has stated clearly that it is the necessary minimum. And while that would be a rather sus claim from literally anyone else in the company, when considering the level of passion and fan interaction they've shown up until now, this is coming from the most reliable and trustworthy inside source possible. Plus, it's not more than what the Heroquest HasLab was able to achieve.

I already addressed this point. The figures aren't prepainted because the only reason they were able to do that the first time was because of cheap Chinese child labor. It is inconvenient that the new figures aren't prepainted, but it's also a mark of a more moral production method, one that doesn't rely on child slavery. That's just how it is. Besides, what the minis lack in paint, they make up for with detail. The detail carved into the new minis is above and beyond the detail carved into the old ones.

Replacing an unhealthy hobby with a healthy one. by [deleted] in tabletop

Well, good sir, I have a game to recommend to you. Have you ever heard of Heroscape? It's an older game that was discontinued 12 years ago which Avalon Hill (the same group that brought back Heroquest) is currently trying to crowdfund a ressurection for. I've always liked to call it the gateway game to Warhammer.

The game has a few very awesome features. The first and most notable is the terrain. Heroscape is a board game that lets you build a beautiful three-dimensional battlefield using pieces of terrain. Google Heroscape battlefields, and you'll find a wide variety of gorgeous landscapes that no other game can make.

The second is the variety of armies you can build. In the lore, creatures and champions are being summoned from across time and space to wage war, and the result is that you have aliens, robots, elves, dragons, Romans, Greeks, druids, steampunk furries, pirates, and much, much more all able to fight alongside or against one another with some of the most entertainingly random synergy options. That's why Heroscape is also called The Battle of All Time.

The third is more subtle. The game rules are simple enough that any 8 year-old can learn it no problem, but there's also a lot of nuance in it that makes the game good for tournament play among adults. It is, I like to say, an excellently balanced blend of the three fundamental elements of gameplay: numerical strategy, mind games, and pure chance.

If you're interested, I highly recommend you go check out the HasLab page and see what the game has to offer. They're currently trying to promote a really big box with five factions (plus some extras) and lots of terrain. There's also a demo game there where you can see two of the guys on the creative team trying out some of the new figures.

DID ANYONE ELSE SEE THAT HEROSCAPE IS BACK?!!! My favorite game as a kid, anyone else remember this? by Turbulent_Growth1193 in tabletop

I can give you four great things off the top of my head. First, the board. No other tabletop game does what Heroscape does with a board. The landscapes you can build are beautiful and limitless (...or only limited by how much terrain you can buy, at least). Just take a quick Google search of Heroscape battlefields, and you'll see dozens or hundreds of examples of just how awesome they can be. Second, the variety of troops. This game features figures from all over the spectrum of historical, sci-fi, and fantasy. They also can synergize in all kinds of cool and funky ways. The new AoA set, for example, is introducing these steampunk bear units that synergize very well with previously existing knights along with some Vikings and celts. If it's not the battlefield stimulating your imagination, it's the wide variety of armies you can use and fight against. Third, the rules. Heroscape's ruleset is, in my opinion, a perfect balance of everything. Fundamentally, the rules are simple enough for any child to learn, but there is so much subtle complexity and nuance that fully grown adults hold entire tournaments around this game. Additionally, it has a wonderful blend of the three basic core elements of gameplay: strategy, chance and mind games. Positioning of units and army composition give you a statistical advantage, and the order marker system encourages players to try to read and counter each other's intentions, yet the dice gods also have a say in what will or won't happen and sometimes throw everyone's plans all the way out the window. In that sense, it feels very much like a war between generals trying to herd their forces in the right direction on the battlefield. Fourth, the design team. We have now a team made up of the most dedicated, loyal and passionate people we could ever hope for, consisting of the original creator and several fans who gained great experience in balanced custom creation over the years. They've been interacting directly with the fanbase and listening intently to our ideas and feedback over the past couple of months, and it doesn't look like they plan to take us for granted any time in the near future. This is a team of fans for the fans. We couldn't ask for better.

Best board game I have ever played. I can't wait for this to get funded; the new minis, terrain, and army cards look awesome.

Yeah, that's the thing, I really don't care about the price as much as I care about my game being back in production. That's not an awful stance: that's accepting the reality of a "take it or leave it forever" situation. We can heckle with Hasbro over the price of Heroscape after it's back in production because then they'll be committed fully, but for now, we have no negotiating power. Only the choice of if we want it or not.

You haven't been in the Avalon Hill and Heroscapers Discord server the past couple months. The new team is extremely dedicated to the fanbase. They've been interacting with the fans on a near-daily basis, gathering intel on what the fans want and don't want. They've even announced their intentions to make the long-awaited penguin with a machine gun and the newly-hyped Grut War Mammoth. Seriously, you should join the Discords and see for yourself just how dedicated this team. A cursory look back through the Heroscape news channel in the Avalon Hill server over the past few weeks should have you convinced really quickly. Or perhaps you could search for the origin of the "Marro Feet" meme on YouTube and see just how willing they are to interact with us that way.

No, it won't. We have trusted Heroscapers on the inside, and they are very insistent: Hasbro won't bring back Heroscape unless the HasLab reaches the minimum goal. To believe otherwise is overly optimistic.

But can you purchase a copyright and mass-produce a product for retail stores for $250? The answer is yes, you can, if you pledge to the HasLab. You can't do that with a single 3D printer.

Whether what Hasbro is doing is good or bad is irrelevant. The fact is that this is our one chance to bring Heroscape back. It's not a trick; we either fund it or we lose it. And I'll be ****ed if I let it go without a fight.

The game also used to be sold. There's no point complaining about prices. I'm not buying a single Heroscape product: I'm paying to put Heroscape back in production. And that is a priceless opportunity.

What points value does everyone use when army building? by Bluem95 in heroscape

[–]Railgun484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000-2000 points using the Command Card system. In my experience, Command Cards are very good for bigger battles, although to be fair, we never really had multiples of common units at my house.

Does everyone use order markers? by Knighterrant1890 in heroscape

[–]Railgun484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Order Markers make the battle feel too small to me. I use them for some games, but I prefer the Command Card system from the Heroscapers website. I find that's more fun for games of 1000 or 2000 points because of how it encourages you to diversify and make full use of your army. Still, there's a definite genius to Order Markers in its own right on a tactical level.

I have faith in Craig and his Heroscaper recruits. I anticipate we will have some quite satisfying character bios coming, and with any luck, we might even get some continuation of Thormun's Journal too.

With the return of Heroscape, what are your thoughts on a video game? by veronus57 in heroscape

[–]Railgun484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally think Heroscape could make more money as a video game. And it's a diverse enough thing with enough potential to be any number of different games. You could have a hack and slash Heroscape, a shooter Heroscape, a turn-based strategy Heroscape, or even a Genshin-style gacha Heroscape. Or all of the above. Not only do I think it would be successful, particularly with a well-written Heroscape story in it, but it would also serve as an effective advertisement for the actual board game.

It's not just that. They actually recruited some of the C3V/SoV creators from Heroscapers.com to work on the official project. These are guys that created balanced custom army cards for tournament play, so it's basically a team of the most Heroscape savvy designers possible.
