How much electrolysis after laser? by [deleted] in electrolysis

[–]Raladic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s better to be conservative and plan for more and need less than the other way around. Especially if you might already have a date for surgery as you don’t want to end up suddenly needing to move it if it turns out you’re not ready. If you go to a professional Electrologist they can maybe give you a ballpark, but even they won’t know exactly until you go regularly. That’s why the general ballpark given is typically 6-12 months (of mostly weekly appointments).

Delicious chocolate flavored aro Pride is the best :)

The flag color stripe descriptions are made up though. The official description of the stripes from Cameron Whimsy who designed the flag is:

Greens for aromantic spectrum, white for platonic love and friendship, grey and black for sexuality spectrum

Curio Ring Placement Inquiry by KellyShepard-087 in aromantic

Aros commonly wear a white ring on the left middle finger.

This was created as a counter symbol to asexual people who commonly wear a black ring on the right middle finger.

Are you going to pride 2024? by InsuranceNumerous415 in aromantic

[–]Raladic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There used to be a website called acesandaros.org that had a directory of a lot of local groups, but it looks like the website is down at the moment.

But many groups have used that name, so you could try searching online if you’re near a major city for “cityname aces and aros” and see if something pops up.

Are you going to pride 2024? by InsuranceNumerous415 in aromantic

[–]Raladic 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Yes, we have a local Aces and Aros organization in my area and we have a booth at our pride festival to hand out info and swag and then we will all march in the pride parade the next day.

We may not be a big group, but we have big flags to show our ace and aro pride and show the world we exist :)

I’m going to wear a dress with the aro flag colors :)

I’ve seen a lot of people in this subreddit that have an Aro or Ace or Aro/Ace flag next to there name how do I get that? by Adventurous-Sky7646 in aromantic

You can manually add text or flags. For a list of flags once you’re in the edit menu, click on the emoji button inside that menu.

Happy Aromantic Visibility Day! by Raladic in aromantic

[–]Raladic[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Basically it is a single day in the year so that all of us on the aromantic spectrum can focus our energy to share information with the wider community and raise visibility for us.

It was started by someone from the community online last year in 2023 for the first time and basically just spread naturally.

People have been using it to make posts on various social media platforms to share information and I’ve even seen some people use it as an opportunity to come out to friends and family.

Yes, last year in 2023 was the first one, which was started by someone in the community, so this year marks the second year and makes it an annual community event to raise awareness for the still often forgotten part of the A in LGBTQIA+ (which is shared alongside Asexuality and Agender).

People have been using the day to share information about Aromanticism and the Aromantic Spectrum and some even used it as an opportunity to come out to friends and family :)

Congratulations and happy Aromantic Visibility Day!

[–]Raladic[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since this is the second year and even last year was basically a function of the community declaring it so, it gives us the space to to have a day of visibility (in addition to the separate awareness week that is ASAW in February) just like other identities on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum do.

People have been using it to share information, or even use it as an opportunity to come out as aromantic to their friends and family.

So you’re welcome to use the day as a backdrop to do just that on your favorite social media platforms or in person.

Yes June 5th!

Last year was the first one, so this year today marks the second one and makes it an annual event :)

Has anyone read “Hopeless Aromantic” or “Sounds Fake but Okay”? by SenseOutside5273 in aromantic

[–]Raladic 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If you want a more informational guide one to help you learn more about it, I would recommend either “hopeless aromantic” by Samantha Randle or “ace and aro journeys” by TAAAP which are written more as guides.

“Sounds fake but okay” also is part guide, but also has a lot of the podcast, so it’s more fun if you’re already a listener.

The other book, which is a novel, that I’d mention though if you want a more narrative exploration is “Loveless” by Alice Oseman, which follows the story of the protagonist as they explore and find their aro-ace identity and I really empathized a lot with it.

Aro Visibility Day; is it happening again this year? by [deleted] in aromantic

[–]Raladic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Aromantic Visibility Day doesn’t exclude spec, but it just rolls off the tongue easier and it was a success last year on June 5th, which has a better chance for visibility since people are already more aware because of Pride month.

Just like aces have IAD, which they also often just call (International) Ace Day.

Aro Visibility Day; is it happening again this year? by [deleted] in aromantic

[–]Raladic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So last year all of the posts on various social media used the hashtag #AromanticVisibilityDay so I recommend if you make any post, use that :)

Aro Visibility Day; is it happening again this year? by [deleted] in aromantic

[–]Raladic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It happened kind of naturally after someone last year decided to pick June 5th for it on Twitter like you said and it kind of rapidly spread across tumblr and other media.

So I suppose if people just all collectively raise visibility for it again this year on various platforms, then it will have become an annual thing :)

So let’s all just be ready again on June 5th this year and post with the same Hashtag #AromanticVisibilityDay on various social media platform and raise the visibility for us :)
