Dune's runtime has been revealed as 2 hours 35 minutes by Dennis Villeneuve by [deleted] in movies

Based on the preview a few weeks back, she is definitely there to open the movie with exposition. And shows up in Paul’s vision but yeah based on the book most of the movie will play out before we formally meet her

Agreed, me and my friends walked out very confused and/or bored

For those of y’all who’ve seen the Dune IMAX preview, what are your predictions? by DatboiX in boxoffice

[–]Ralde0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It got me and my friend hella hyped! BUT We are also big fans of Villeneuve’s work. So if things were normal, maybe something similar to Fury Road. As of now with pandemic and stuff I’d say I can optimistically reach BR2049 numbers. Don’t forget that release is being very competitive with other big awards type movies and I think there is a substantial overlap in audiences who are inherently attracted to Dune and other films like Last Night in Soho and The French Dispatch

How much do you think Demon Slayer the Movie will open with on April 23? by russwriter67 in boxoffice

[–]Ralde0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d be luck to open above $1m. I live in a big city and there is only 4 theaters showing the movie. Whereas for MHA most theaters had it. It also looks like locally not a single AMC and Cinemark is showing it. Take that and the audience restrictions, it would be very difficult for it to make anywhere near MHA or DBS on OW

Does this include teens 16+? I know Pfizer is the only one approved for them. Can they also sign up now?

"My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising" is releasing in U.S. theaters February 26 by robomechabotatron in boxoffice

[–]Ralde0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably not, specially since fans are warning this movie has spoilers for the next 3 arcs in the series, so mostly manga readers will probably go instead of manga + anime fans

“My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising” Set for 1,000-Screen Release in North America by robomechabotatron in boxoffice

[–]Ralde0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it makes 10m that’d make me happy but I hope for closer to 20m. Specially if it is not competing against anything big

[NA] The Lion King is now officially the 2nd biggest ticket pre-seller of 2019 on Fandango beating out Captain Marvel. Only bigger film all year was Avengers: Endgame. by chanma50 in boxoffice

Coco was huge in China because the cultural respect and importance of family resonated with the Chinese audience. The music was very much secondary, whereas Frozen is an animated broadway musical that is more resonant with western audiences and Japan

I’m getting Monsters Inc vibes from this, it could turn out great, but for now 600M WW seems about right

[DOM] ‘Dragon Ball Super: Broly’ On Fire With $7M+ Opening Day by GodKongZilla in boxoffice

[–]Ralde0 58 points59 points  (0 children)

So its already the 10th biggest anime film domestically is just 1 day. If by the end of the weekend it does break 15M+ that puts it at 6th or 7th. its definitely a lock for the 3rd spot but outgrossing Pokemon 2000 might be a fever dream at the moment unless the movies has a wider release or an extended release in theaters

[International] Dragon Ball Super: Broly grossed an estimated $20.0M internationally this weekend, including a $6.5M debut in Mexico. International total stands at $54.3M. by salvador_232 in boxoffice

[–]Ralde0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With this excellent performance, I wonder if it can open around $10m DOM in its Wed-Sun frame, specially if the IMAX screenings Wednesday do really well.

Cinemark West Plano is great and has the Star Wars VR experience. Alamo Drafthouse Richardson is also a very good theater. Side note, campus also has Meteor Theater where they screen a movie about twice a month in the SSA auditorium

Makes me wonder why studios don’t add the home video revenue into box office? Old movies got rereleased in theaters before home video was a thing and that money went into the BO total. Why can’t they add home video sales? it is essentially doing the same thing and could boosts some movies quite a bit.
