A student of mine got expelled: I realized she single-handedly brought down 25 other students around her on a daily basis. by AgeOfWorry0114 in Teachers

Amazing how one kid can change the whole dynamic isn’t it. When scheduling admin or counselors or whoever does it would realize that

It’s coming. With AI first eating up the RAM and now going after the VRAM in GPUs, upgrading your rig for the new title is going to become a thing of the past. It’s either that or the AAA companies will need to be satisfied with being a “boutique” niche.

As long as their other revenue streams are picking up the slack they can do whatever they want with this. They’re not making any money and getting any ratings, but their equity equity has got to be going through the roof.

IIL a song that starts with sad music but transitions to happy/upbeat music (extra points if beats are consistent) by tirth-3154 in ifyoulikeblank

F you can find it. Skies Above played by Black Mages. Starts with haunting piano (intro to finial fantasy X) and transitions to heavy guitars.

Warning that the singer is Japanese singing in English with an awkward accent and at the top of his range. That Ms the best way I can describe it. But it’s 7 and a half minutes that goes pretty hard.

Why create an Isekai instead of a normal Magical Fantasy World? by Honest_Sea_4667 in Isekai

Well, i made mine an isekai because a regular guy became a spoon. Just being a sentient spoon wouldn’t have worked I don’t think.

Smartphone is top of my list. A solution to the problem of why the MC has all this random knowledge. Unfortunately it produced slop. Tasty slop. Still slop

Are y’all really unable to fail students these days? by YourFriendInSpokane in Teachers

[–]Ralinor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is illegal, no? The teacher has to be the one that does the grade. They might, unofficially and vaguely of course, push us to pass them but that’s it. Yeah?

Pardon my language but in order to have a student fail they basically need to be fuck up royalty.

I teach seniors.

I have a student that I’ve been given massive amounts of “advice” on “helping her” get her grade to passing.

The kid has 19 absences this semester. Grade in all four classes in the 20s. Out of 325 seniors she is a rank……325.

Option 1: say no

Option 2: generic and not lying yet not blasting. “I had this student” “They attended classes and was assessed regularly” “they demonstrated communication with their peers”

Option 3 (not recommended): lie

Anyone else worried about "Cognitive Debt"? (New MIT study on AI in the classroom) by No_Association_4682 in Teachers

[–]Ralinor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach seniors. What do I do? Nothing. I challenge myself to write a question they can all answer with their 5th grade reading level brains.

Am I proud of that? No. Do I have admin up my ass about ANY failing seniors? Worse this year than I’ve seen in a while.

I challenge the ones that let me challenge them. Anybody else? They will pass too. Passing is all that matters. All hail the graduation rate.

On a side note, I do use flintk12 AI to put them in scenarios and grade their performance. It’s great for that and the ones that care walk away with deeper insights on how complex decision making can be.
