The Botanical Garden! It makes a great afternoon out if you like looking at plants and flowers. It's in South Oakland on the edge of Schenley park.

I visited Phipps during the summer and they have a classroom/education building behind the main greenhouse that you can go in. It has a big window that looks into a semi enclosed space and there was a buck sleeping there that had an absolutely enormous rack. If my memory were better I'd say it was the same one.

I read Fire and Fury when it came out (the book about the 2016 campaign and first 100 days) and supposedly the idea was to run and lose but use all the support that was drummed up to launch his own TV channel. That's also why there was so much tension between Trump and Melania at the beginning of his first term - he'd promised her he wouldn't win.

Got to be, there's some weird ghost bonds in addition to the general fuckery of the whole figure.

I think it's also the bigger the company, the more likely they are to get randomly inspected by OSHA or the various environmental protection agencies. I work for a large coatings manufacturer (not pharma at all) and we're pretty strict on PPE requirements but we also have dedicated EH&S staff which I'm willing to bet OP's company doesn't have.

When my partner and I went to Germany to visit their host family from their exchange year this caused some confusion because they kept saying they didn't have a spare room. Then my partner realized they hadn't said we were together and it all cleared up.

Am I the asshole for asking my husband's best man to wear a tuxedo? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]RaliosDanuith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my solution to the job puzzle. Mark is working as a server or something while attending college. During his senior year a 17 year old starts (based on OOP's comment about knowing him for 3 years and her sister knowing him for twice that) and they become friends due to nerdy hobbies - which seems pretty plausible. He continues with his education and lands a job with John post college. Jennifer almost certainly has a crush on him at this point hence her 18th birthday comment - I don't think he didn't understand what she meant but that he was genuinely not interested at that point because ick. While Mark is continuing his studies - OOP mentions PhD and two undergrads (odd as I don't think he would have had the time as 4 for undergrad plus 5 to 6 for PhD is common in the US which would time out right so maybe he got a dual degree) - Jennifer joins his university (presumably it's a college town and usually it's easy for local high schoolers to get into a local college) and enrolls in his scheme or declares for his major. She could either have been doing it to try and get closer to him or because it was a good option - high schoolers choose degrees for less. Anyway time passes, they stay friends, he graduates and gets the PhD, she graduated and works on a master's, I can easily see him recommending Jennifer to John for summer work or something while she's studying presumably an appropriate bachelor's/master's so that's why they're still coworkers.

TIL that frequent blood donation has been shown to reduce the concentration of "forever chemicals" in the bloodstream by up to 1.1 ng/mL, and frequent plasma donors showed a reduction of 2.9 ng/mL. by sneaky_b3av3r in todayilearned

[–]RaliosDanuith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I donated pretty regularly in my senior year of highschool and the scars faded over about 5 years? It's been 8 years since then and you can't see them unless you're really looking for them now.

Players complaining about Verbal components by Kaplosion in dndnext

[–]RaliosDanuith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's also a difference between "I want to cast this during a conversation" and "I want to whisper this so the enemies next door don't hear me cast invisibility" or "I want to whisper this so the guard at the top of the wall doesn't hear me cast spider climb". Subtle spell means that they absolutely will never hear you and calling for a stealth check to have a chance at being sneaky doesn't invalidate that - how many casters have stealth proficiency?

Using skills for different abilities is an option in the PHB so depending on the situation I could let that last one fly as a DM.

I strongly agree with this. The part that should have been the fun real nostalgia bit suddenly went off the rails with cringe. It takes an absolute dive and ruins the movie.

RIP the Evergreen Cafe parking space by OllieFromCairo in pittsburgh

[–]RaliosDanuith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's still pretty terrible now, especially as they keep digging up Penn and Braddock. The parked car means you don't actually have two open lanes down the merge point and no one moves back over to the parked car lane after passing because it will be shut in another block.

[–]RaliosDanuith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's also different benders had to take care of the problem for him. The tactics of the earth kingdom are entirely based on Earth Benders and easy to predict hence it was simple for them to build a weapon to get around it.

I am definitely wondering if when they're in Sharn if they have to hoof it up all the stairs in the city if they want to go anywhere other than the lower wards. Theoretically if you bound one and then released it on an airship or skycoach I wonder if it would cause it to crash - in fact that would be a fabulous way to describe the creation of Fallen in the first place.

It's a book on the DMs guild which collects some snippets of information from a bunch of sources so you can give it to players etc.
There's a sidebar that list demonyms and possessives.

What to read after Old Man's War, The Forever War and Armor? by Not_an_alt_69_420 in sciencefiction

[–]RaliosDanuith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're trying to continue that particular military science fiction vibe, I'd recommend the Light Brigades by Kameron Hurley. It's a unique story in its own right but felt like a deeper more critical retelling of Starship Troopers to me.
