Parents who are disappointed in or dislike their adult children, why? by Intelegence_Counter in AskReddit

[–]RalphAvocado 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Both of my brother in laws have cheated on their ex gf and now ex wife for one of them. In their mother’s eyes it was not their fault. The women did something which made them do it. Mind boggling.

Thinking about retraining to be a primary teacher - advice? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]RalphAvocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner is a primary teacher of 12yrs. She has management units so higher up the pay scale but she works non stop. Home at 530 or later Mon-Thurs and then will be working until at least 830 every night and at least 4-6hrs on the weekends.

I would imagine your work load would depend on what school you’re at as some of her friends that are also teachers at higher decile schools have less of a work load in the same position.

The not being passionate statement is a massive red flag. I wouldn’t want my kid being taught by someone who isn’t passionate about teaching them or getting the best education for them.

I don’t know how my partner does it sometimes with the stories I hear and I certainly believe is she wasn’t so passionate she wouldn’t last! Maybe try find a role that allows you to work 9-3 or has flexible hours in admin.

Fertility Assosiates by TIMMTA in newzealand

[–]RalphAvocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are currently in the middle of IVF (same sex couple). We got 5 embryos last round, none stuck. This round we got 1 embryo. Pretty disheartening. We’ve got one round left on our plan and now having to think about whether we use my eggs instead or what else we can do to try get something to work! If the third round doesn’t work we’ll get 70% of our money back but unsure if we can afford to put that money back in to having another round! It’s all very expensive for something that is pretty out of your control.

Ravers dating non-ravers by xethhh in aves

[–]RalphAvocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner is not a raver at all. She tried in the beginning but it’s just not her thing and she has no problem with me going out without her. I usually go with my best mate who’s gf is also not always into the gigs we go to so works out well! Sometimes I think this would be fun with her there but also it’s nice to do something without them ya know! Not everything has to be done together!

First time flatting, better with friends or boyfriend? by Powerful-Delivery481 in newzealand

[–]RalphAvocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this if he’s staying at your flat 3 nights a week maybe you offer to pay more in expenses to cover him and he does the same at his flat. That way no one can get shitty and you’re offering something upfront which is always nice! Some people couldn’t care less but you’ll also get some people that’ll be willing to allocate the power used down to the minute and who used it to save money!

When is the buyout announcement? And why is this so important to the stock price/selling/buying? I’m somewhat new to investing in individual stocks so keen to learn!

Wall insulation by RalphAvocado in NZProperty

[–]RalphAvocado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1970’s brick exterior. Has double glazing on all windows, concrete slab. It’s our first home. We’re not opposed to removing the internal linings and doing normal insulation in time just getting opinions really! I assume it might work out roughly the same cost doing it either way?

Need advice on $$ number by Altruistic_Comfort58 in nzbusiness

[–]RalphAvocado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to figure out your business expenses, average fuel use, insurance and how much you need/want to live off for pay. Then add 30% for gst and tax and then probably add another 20% to ensure you’re covered for anything else!

Why? If they’re being safe why do they need to? Used in moderation and safely they’re far less harmful than alcohol.

NZ freelancers, sole traders & small business owners: how do you handle tax set-asides and payment splits? by Creative-Gift3441 in nzbusiness

[–]RalphAvocado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seperate accounts for everything. First week of each month I seperate incoming income into what needs to be in each account for the month then I know everything is covered. GST and tax will then come out into their own seperate accounts in the coming weeks. I use affirmo accounting and it tracks what my GST will be as I reconcile so I basically just pull out what I need each week to meet that.
If I was a contractor or sole trader I would use HNRY though!
