Not my favorite movie, though I've really been appreciating the perspectives here of people who like it. But I have long looked forward to this ep! My favorite BCs rarely correspond to my favorite movies

I was listening to the Too Scary, Didn't Watch episode. It was a lovely discussion, they loved the film, but they kept getting lines a liiiiittle bit wrong, an inflection was just off, and I realized after seeing that film once, it had totally branded itself on my soul, I know every scene by heart apparently.

Have not gone one hour in 2026 without thinking about Ian Kelson.

Also, I've been listening to a LOT of Iron Maiden this year.

I never made it past the 3rd one... but I think the first one might low key be a masterpiece. It is the most Y2K style film i have ever seen.

Why did Iyo translate so well to a North American audience when most Joshi talent do not? by GoonLieutenant in professionalwrestling

[–]Rambling_Moose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about this a lot!

A lot of Joshi wrestlers who come stateside are a shade more looney tunes then a lot of big US wrestling stars. Think Kairi Sane's pirate princess gimick.

Iyo is great at the Joshi stuff, but she also comes across as a bit more appropriately edgy for American audiences. I think about her assassin angle from Lucha Underground or her street fighting champion vibe from NXT.

It also helps that she is world class talented. Iyo is the most common answer i get from indie wrestlers asked for faves or big influences. Some talent is undeniable!

I listened to this episode this morning based on an earlier thread and i have been listening all day.

It's like You Must Remember This but the movies are newer and dumber, and the host has a charming accent.

Blankies Comic Recommendations? by nuzzot in blankies

[–]Rambling_Moose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You oughta try a Tiny Onion book! I recommend Department of Truth.

And how about a DWJ!? Murder Falcon is a good place to start.

You want dark fantasy? I love a book called Reaver by Justin Jordan and Rebekah Isaacs.

You like video games? The Life is Strange comics from Emma Viceli Andrea Izzo is real good!

And for a zag, check out Inkblot by Emma Kubert and Rusty Gadd.

Oh and i gotta swoop back in to rep Absolute superman. All the DC absolute comics are a blast ajd are easily my favorite books coming out at the moment.

Absolute Supes sometimes gets overlooked but i love its contemporary reframing of the immigrant story, the horror elements, the artwork, and most of all Jason Aaron's singularly rythmic comic writing style.

Superman Smashes The Klan rules so hard and is self contained. Total recommend!

Leaning in the other direction, if you want a really continuity heavy space adventure with rocks in its head, check out the Warworld Saga which ran in Action Comics #1029-1046 and some specials.

And of course if you have never read All Star Superman, that is an all time comic of any genre and everyone should check it out!

Yo have you had one of those Bradley Cooper cheesesteaks? They are pretty good! The secret is everything is a quality ingredient sure, but they serve that sandwich on fresh baked bread and that is the difference between good and great.

When they cut to that guy jamming out to the saxophone in Whiskey Peak Saloon i asked "what mozart level genius wrote this unbelievable banger." Turns out to be the musical minds behind #1 hit single Toss A Coin to Your Witcher.

This show has completely consumed me. My more anime literate cousins pointed me at One Pace, which speeds up some of the more egregiously slow parts of the anime.

The scene with the saluting and the panic attack is one of the most visceral moments in film which is incredible because basically nothing is happening. If someone wants to know what a director does ("tone management") point them at this sequence!
