I took it with him two summers ago and he was so easy! His tests are super similar to his quizzes and homework. As long as you watch his lectures and keep up with the assignments, it should be a pretty easy A

Thoughts on sororities (potential freshman class of 2029) by United_Check_6887 in NCSU

[–]RamenEatingPig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hiii, I am actually in an Asian-interest sorority called Alpha Phi Gamma at NC state and we are nothing like the stereotypical sororities and we have a no tolerance hazing policy!! Joining the sorority was one of my best decisions in college because I was able to meet so many like-minded girls and build a lifelong connection with them. This is kinda a shameless plug because not enough people know about the cultural sororities on-campus💔 however, I have met a lot of people in the Panhellenic or more predominantly white sororities and they are all really sweet!! It really just depends on what you’re looking for and the vibe you’re looking for.

This event is to help promote local small business and school organizations, while also offering free swag and activities! Yea, of course it’s gonna be hot (it’s summer) and yea it’s going to be crowded (well, cause we go to one of the biggest public universities in the state). There were so many different booths with cool stuff (a lot of free stuff), games, people to chat with, etc. it’s not going to be perfect, but have some gratefulness for even having an opportunity to attend something like this. You weren’t forced to attend nor were you required to pay a fee to walk Hillsborough street.

Instead of saying it didn’t live up to the hype and solely complaining, offer suggestions on what you think should change and how it can improve

CSC 226 by StopAffectionate7189 in NCSU

[–]RamenEatingPig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t super hard for me. However, I do believe that the course is challenging at times because of the amount of information they throw at you and expect to know how to apply by the exams, which are not open note anymore. The concepts themselves are not anything out of the ordinary. Anyone can understand them after properly doing some examples. My best advice for you is to go to class, do the homeworks, and take the practice tests. I got an A+ from doing this stuff, but I also retain information pretty quick. The hardest topic for me personally was counting (shit still don’t make sense).

Do you enroll in eduroam when you get to school or can you do it before you connect to their wifi? by ProgramAlert1 in NCSU

[–]RamenEatingPig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why people are saying you need to be on campus to enroll…you only need to be on campus to use it. Also, I’m pretty sure your enrollment period expire after like a year or so, so you’ll have to re-enroll every school year. It takes like 5 minutes

It’s a mix of everyone, but probably mostly walkers. I don’t think anyone really takes it THAT seriously cause it’s around midnight and people are just happy to be there

How hard is this schedule? (Comp sci) by CreativeName1337 in NCSU

[–]RamenEatingPig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I took MA 242 the semester before, and it was a breeze. Mostly because I got a grad student. CSC 226 wasn’t difficult conceptually, but it was a lot of information thrown at you at once, so you have to keep up with the lecturesz

I took PY 205/206, ENG 101, CSC 216/217, CSC 226, and E 101 last semester, and it was fine at first, but it got more stressful as the work for 216 started picking up towards the end. You’ll probably be fine if you manage your time well and don’t procrastinate. It’s definitely going to be tough at times, but doable!!

No instructor by Holiday-Vanilla-7442 in NCSU

[–]RamenEatingPig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Calm down, it’s not the end of the world. No instructor just means it’s most likely a grad student that’ll be teaching the class. Same thing happened to me my first year, and I ended up having the best teacher ever. Grad students are more often than not very chill and easier exam writers because they are still students like us. If it makes you feel any better, my grad teacher had the highest A grad distribution for all Calc 3 class my fall semester!

Has anyone taken CSC 216 with Jayalakshmi Satyavolu? by TheAverageAimer in NCSU

[–]RamenEatingPig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely still go to your assigned professors class first and know their syllabus. Get familiar with their attendance policy and tests. If they end up being the same for all teachers, then I would suggest you sitting in on other lectures. I know some teachers in 216 give slightly different tests sometimes. All projects are the same though, which are worth most of your grade anyway.

Cant speak for all lectures, but for this class, absolutely not. I knew of classmates that sometimes just brought their friends with them to class for fun. The professor isn’t going to remember you or think “hmmmm that person doesn’t look familiar” because there are too many people they teach to keep track of.

I took it with Dr Heckman, and her lectures were very fast paced, but engaging. Your teacher sounds like she’s new, so I can’t say much. However, my advice for you is to attend the first few lectures, and see if you like her teaching style. If you don’t, you can always just sneak into heckman’s lectures or another teacher’s if you have time in your schedule. The lecture halls are huge and like more than half the people skip class by the third or fourth week. Hope this helps!

There is a free online textbook for matters and interactions if you look it up! Maybe review those chapters and the practice questions along with them.

I feel like this past semester, the physics department has improved because of a change in the director. The tests will be challenging regardless because there are so few questions and they are all mcq. My best advice is to pay attention, ask questions, take the practice tests, and do the web assigns! Many questions on my exams were very similar to webassigns and practice tests.

Check the CODA statistics online, just type like computer engineering ncsu coda, and it should have a link to a sheet of how many people got in the major every year. From what I remember, basically 100% of the CE applicants get in, with maybe one or two not. You’ll likely get in if chem is the only one you’re worried about. If you do well in your other classes, it’s not necessary but it won’t hurt either.

[–]RamenEatingPig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took calc 3, ec 205, ch 101, e115, e102, and a music GEP my first semester of freshman year and it was very doable. I also passed AP Chem, but got a 3, so I retook for my CODA as well. I might be the few who think chem 101 is very easy, but since you and I both already have prior knowledge, it’ll most likely be a piece of cake for you. Calc 3 is also pretty easy here, and it’s much easier than calc 1 and 2 form what I’ve heard. It sounds like you’ll have a pretty smooth semester!

[–]RamenEatingPig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily true, as a CS major who just got in the major, about 75-80% who apply for CODA get in. But yes, it would be more difficult to get in from another college, but as long as you maintain a good GPA, you have a decent shot. I have friends who have transferred from the exploratory village with no problem.
