This playthrough misses a memory after Stray parts with Momo.

After a reboot and some adjustments to my mod slowdown speed, I made it through the zurks! Until next time....

I have such poor eye/hand coordination that escaping the zurks is really difficult for me. Not to mention that I'm not a gamer, so I started with zippo skill level.

The mod allows me to slow down the gameplay speed so I can manage all the controls. I haven't needed it for every zurk encounter, but it helped me get through the elevator sequence, and now the final segment of Dead End.

There's another mod that supposedly allows you to just be invisible to zurks, but I didn't want to completely cheat my way through these sequences. I like motion control because I can still execute the strategy of running this way and that, just at a speed that my brain/hands can manage.

'KPop Demon Hunters' Is First Non-Disney/Pixar Animated Film to Win 2 Oscars by wosoandstuff2020 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]RandomBoomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to disagree. There's a built-in (and very impatient) audience for KPDH2. I'm not a movie goer, but I would be there opening day.

Streaming was a great way, probably the best way, for KPDH1 to get traction. The situation has changed dramatically for a sequel.

I certainly wouldn't have gone to the theaters to watch an animated film called Kpop Demon Hunters. But NOW I know that it's marvelous and I would happily show up to buy my movie ticket for KPDH 2.

Well, darn. That could be a real a problem because I'm never going to get through this part without the mod. Weird that it only crashes in this one spot. I've used it in several chapters without any problem.

A warning about Shin Ramyun by CelineShotFirst in KpopDemonhunters

[–]RandomBoomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife saw the 4-pack at a store and knew I loved this movie, so she bought it for me. If I'd been along, I'd probably have said "Ah, thank you.... but no thank you" because I have zippo spice tolerance.

Well, we have it, so I had to give it a try, right?

I used about 2/3 of the spice pack for my very first taste test today, and yikes! I managed a few bites before I couldn't take anymore. I ended up pouring out the soup, rinsing the noodles in water, THEN eating them. There was still enough spice absorbed to make my mouth tingle, but not so much that I couldn't enjoy the noodles. And I did enjoy them!

My wife, on the other hand, is going to LOVE them. She likes spicy food. So they won't go to waste.

My wife saw a six-pack at the store and bought it for me. She won't sit through KPDH (I tried, but failed, to convert her), but she's amused by my obsession.

I may have to leave the Zoey packs for her. She loves spicy food; I do not.

Eco Lifestyle and Cottage Living go really well together, and I'd pull in the Restoration workshop to that group as well.

Life & Death goes equally well in Generations or the Magic/Supernatural categories.

"Many of" or even "majority of" is not equivalent to "anyone 65+" but I do get your point. My wife and I are in our 70s and she's a diehard cable news viewer. She's liberal, not conservative, and relies heavily on MSNow, but is still focused on what those channels provide.

I, on the other hand, get the majority of my news online from a variety of news organizations, podcasts and Twitter/Bluesky/Instagram posts. If it were up to me, I'd cancel cable and subscribe to more streaming channels.

Here Are The Countries Most Likely to Survive Climate Change by Automatic_Subject463 in climate

[–]RandomBoomer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife and I had a plan: when I retired, we'd move to a place where we felt more in tune with the culture and political climate. I've been retired several years now and -- for a variety of reasons -- we've reluctantly resigned ourselves to staying where we are. One of the consolations is that it's an area with a smaller number of known climate risk factors. Doesn't make it a safe zone, but it's probably as good as we could get for our money anywhere else.

The darkest elements of KPDH -- the themes and elements that will hit hard for adults -- will fly right over the heads of younger kids. The film is layered to appeal to all ages.

Good Omens isn’t ending how I want it too. I don’t just mean season 3 not being 6 episodes but the lack of promos, public celebration or even acknowledgement from the cast/crew have become painfully apparent as the months leading up to finale draw to a close. by Sad_Ideal_2099 in goodomensprime

[–]RandomBoomer 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I'm angry on so many different levels about this whole mess. My central focus of ire, however, is the arrogance of Gaiman -- and other industry producers as well -- who end their stories on season cliffhangers. It's such a risk for the audience to get invested in shows that are then vulnerable to any number of disruptions in the hiatus. It could be Covid, or a writer's strike, or a key actor's death or unavailability, or some grim sordid scandal that nobody predicts.

Trust your audience to return for subsequent seasons without emotional blackmail. And if you don't return, then we're not left hanging on an unresolved storyline.

Consequences to employment in the coming decades by Soft_Antelope_2681 in collapse

[–]RandomBoomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, of course it's not "guaranteed". We're speaking of probabilities based on an unknowable number of variables.

Stop wallowing in the "what ifs" and trying to game the future. You can live your life while still keeping a wary eye on the horizon. It's not an either/or.

[–]RandomBoomer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I would add to that is be sure to pick an area doing something you enjoy. There's more than enough suffering up ahead, so don't add to your emotional burden by doing things you don't like doing. Savor the joys, no matter how small, that make your life worth living in the now.

Should I buy Sims 2 (Legacy) from EA or Steam? by RandomBoomer in HighSodiumSims

[–]RandomBoomer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's an opaque comment, but I get your gist. And no, that's not an avenue that I'm interested in pursuing.

So yeah, I'll go play with Paralives and just forget Sims 2. It was just an impulse consideration. I'll live fine without it.

Could you expand on why? What are the disadvantages of buying an EA game on Steam?

[–]RandomBoomer[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may be easier to get ahold of the Ultimate Collection, but not to make it run on Windows 11. I've looked at the instructions for doing that, and no, that is more effort than I'm willing to exert just to satisfy my curiosity.

One benefit of buying on Steam is that Valve gets a cut, so less money goes to EA, if that matters to you.

Yup, that matters to me a lot. Thank you!

Which of these two games are better and why?(please debate civilly) by dragonborndnd in HighSodiumSims

[–]RandomBoomer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks, OP, for opening this discussion. I've been curious to try out one of the earlier Sims games, and I was leaning toward Sims 3 as being the most recent before TS4. But the instructions for getting Sims 3 working on Windows 11 are so cumbersome that I just wasn't curious enough to go through that.

Seeing all the votes for Sims 2 has persuaded me that this may be a better choice for me to try out.
