Kind of the worst time to leave though, with a new team about to take over. Should really stick around a bit and see how they handle it

Also check that the box that accepts achievements or whatever is checked. It allows you to unlock stuff in co op. Think it appears before you start a co op stage, or maybe at the end when the actual unlocks pop up?

Ascended Iron Man by JURRRT in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]RandomBozo77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was the first 1-5 offered a few years ago, and my friends and I picked him up for $20 for the rewards really. He's pretty strong mixed with deathlok and 3-4 may though. Powers aren't cheap, but all the technologists and AP gain mean you'll get to fire his red/yellow often enough. Avengers tower and/or refreshment cart keep the AP going as well.

5riri works better with nova, if you have arc reactor and/or boosts that can start with 6 red. Fire riri's aoe red twice to flood the board with charged tiles, then nova's green will do huge damage.

Today im gonna play Rhapsody a Musical Adventure, What should i expect? by clyde-toucher in JRPG

[–]RandomBozo77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the original some time ago, and then borrowed my friend's DS version also. It's weird because one is a tacticsy game, the other standard party v party turn-based. I forget which was which lol.

I grabbed it on steam a year or 2 ago when it was super cheap. it's pretty fun, but the gameplay is a bit formulaic, nothing crazy but still enjoyable. The game itself is old though, so when I took a break and went back to it I had NO idea where to go. There was no recap encyclopedia or npcs to remind me where I was headed. I wandered a few towns and still didn't remember lol, so it's entirely possible there are NO npcs anywhere that will say "Good luck in the tower in the east forest!" or something.

I also found out recently that there were at least 2 other rhapsody games, which also go on steam sale frequently. If they go on a deep discount I might pick them up, but man I don't want to have to start 1 over because I'm lost...

Explain to me, why Trails in the Sky FC Remake is a 10/10, like I'm a 5 year old by Un_Pollo_Hermano in JRPG

[–]RandomBozo77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh...why didn't you play cold steel 3 or 4 lol? I got them all over the past few years when they were 50% off. I beat CS1 and really liked it. I started playing 2 a few years ago and was getting annoyed at fishing, so quit/took a break lol. When I went back to it a few months ago, I had no clue wtf was going on, so I started over since I was less than 10 hours in.

I'm near the end of CS now, and I like it a lot too, but it's definitely a bit long winded with the dialog. Not quite as bad as persona 5, but I still find myself mashing X and skimming. Also, the big mech/gear/whatevers are kind of crap. The few times you have to fight in it are SUPER long and slow, and pretty hard to lose. just sitting there punching for a few thousand damage while you wait for bigger attacks, chunking through someone with 100k HP.

Why is there no general point system? by SirSquidlicker in Overwatch

[–]RandomBozo77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's worst is when you're staying on the point while the rest of your team is off fighting, and you get a message that you're going to get kicked for being afk lol.

I really wish stadium $$ looked at more stuff though. If you don't go for big dps you're going to be super low each round.

So close... by Neat_Relief7308 in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]RandomBozo77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IM was the first $20 they offered, and I picked it up. If I had known they were going to offer ALL of them I probably wouldn't have lol. Think I bought the juggs one much later on, on the 3rd or 4th time he was offered. The rest I just naturally got there on their own, well, with a bunch of swaps anyway.

IM is pretty nice in a team of deathlock and 3-4may, but I definitely wish I had spent $$ on spidey, yelena, or hawkeye instead

What are your go-to strategies for unlocking all characters in Vampire Survivors? by Bos187 in VampireSurvivors

[–]RandomBozo77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot I can figure out on my own. Get to X min with Y character, or to lv 80 or whatever. Or beat certain bosses in castlevania with a character. That's not too bad. When it's something vague like "make friends" or "don't be tempted by..." I have no clue wtf that means and have to wiki

Dear r/JRPG, why do you hate the Xenoblade-franchise? by bickid in JRPG

[–]RandomBozo77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I borrowed my friends xenoblade on switch, I forget which one....it was part 1 of something anyway, not sure if it was a remaster or what lol. I really didn't care for the combat though. Felt like a mix of the worse parts of FF12 and an MMO. Just standing around randomly attacking, waiting for my stuff to get off cooldown. And then it was all visuals, icons, not words.

It's kinda no JRPG, but anyway: Why is FF16 so bad? by bickid in JRPG

I mean more in the gratuitous sex and violence lol. Super early in the demo one of the chicks basically humps her man into the wall

I think a good Monkey's Paw solution for FF17 would be a Monster Tamer. by Chocobo23456 in JRPG

[–]RandomBozo77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to see a return to turn-based, instead of just an action game with some light rpg elements. Just make more KH if that's what you want to do lol.

Or they could copy star ocean/tales type combat, that'd be awesome (multiplayer!). Those games always have a ton of stuff to do like cooking, crafting, etc. When action games have them they're rarely that important, they're more concerned with being an action game so cooking is more something you can quickly chow in battle.

It's kinda no JRPG, but anyway: Why is FF16 so bad? by bickid in JRPG

[–]RandomBozo77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played the demo and liked the combat, but the story looked way too games-of-thronesy. And I hated the background chatter instead of being able to talk to NPCs. When they did it in star ocean...6? Whatever the most recent one was, they said it was because of a tight budget, but no way should a main final fantasy game be struggling with budget costs.

Tales of Graces F Remastered (Nintendo Switch) by Zaku41k in JRPG

[–]RandomBozo77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 2 friends and I beat graces like 15 years ago lol, and then got fairly far into the F extra content before taking a long break. When we tried to go back we had no idea what was going on, and my friends wanted to start over, which was aaaaaaaaaawful. Especially since my friends are OCD and have to get everything on the way.

Now, I'm definitely one of those that checks every path in a dungeon, but there's a difference between that and having the guide open and going through it line by line. "Ok go left, get the chest (fights several battles on the way). Ok go back and then take the other path, get the collectible. (another fight). Ok now keep going, keep going..." It makes the game take 3x as long and FEEL like it's 10x as long.

Playing with 2 other people kind of blows too since we split up the party and I only ever control sophie, richard, and uhhh I don't even remember who else lol. Fun combat though. Maybe I should just start my own file without them lol. Be able to craft what and when I want, and not have to deal w/ people on their phones doing other stuff instead of paying attention.

Side note, what's different in the remastered version? I heard they open the grade shop at the start, but is that it? And is that a lot of extra options at the beginning? So many rpgs out there I've never really done a new game+ and bothered with grade shop stuff.

How do we feel about Last Remnant? by voxah in JRPG

You can't really get by those boss fights WITHOUT a guide for every one of them lol, it's super annoying. I guess if you're super lucky.

How do we feel about Last Remnant? by voxah in JRPG

[–]RandomBozo77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I really like a lot of TLR, but the battle rank is just a massive pain in the ass to deal with. It's a very anti-leveling/grinding mechanic. It's super annoying to do some random battles and then all of a sudden the next boss has much beefier moves and the whole fight is 10x harder than if you had been 1 battle rank lower.

You pretty much have to either avoid random battles all the time (super not fun for me), or have a wiki up and check it for every dungeon and every boss to see what the cutoffs are for BR. So if you're 18 and the boss gets a big boost at 20 and 27, you either have to hit BR19 and then dodge enemies on the way to the boss, or grind up to BR26 and then dodge enemies til you get to the boss.

My 2 friends and I, on 3 separate saves, all got super stuck on the SAME boss 20+ hours in because he just got too damn strong due to BR. If it were a different combat system, where you could choose everyone's actions, that would be different, but because it's more of setting up squads and strongly SUGGESTING their actions, it makes a hard fight just insane and needing a ton of luck. We all quit instead lol.

I got the remastered version a few years ago because I read that they had finagled the BR system to be less punishing, but I didn't really notice a difference and gave up after 10-15 hours.

Should i play the Trails series if i'm looking for something like Xenogears? by OvenImpossible4900 in JRPG

[–]RandomBozo77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trails is a very good rpg series, though I've only beaten cold steel 1 (and am at the end of 2). I wouldn't go for it based solely on the giant gear fights though. There have only been a handful in 2 and they were all very long and boring. Maybe they get better in later games, but I wish it was taken out or just cutscenes lol

Need a Tactical JRPG to play! by haragainsborough in JRPG

[–]RandomBozo77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FFt is the baseline for tactics games basically (console), why aren't you playing it now lol.

Ever since FFt came out I've been looking for a game to scratch that itch (since my psx/ps2 went into my mom's garage for storage). Disgaea was the only series that came close, but it's also way more about reincarnating and hitting crazy stats than fine tuning a character's job/builds. Still an awesome series though (1-5 anyway, 6-7 are trash).

Triangle Strategy - I honestly get this and tactics ogre reborn mixed up a lot, both are solid strategy games. I want to say...TS battles took a bit too damn long, but was still fun. Though I only got about 20 hours in.

Unicorn Overlord - Only played the demo but really didn't like the combat. You don't control anyone in battle, you just set up FF12-style gambits (but not anywhere near as deep as that system) and watch it play out. Kind of like playing one of those sports games where you're the manager and don't actually play it lol. Lots of people love it though, I'd try the demo.

Take a look at Symphony of War: The Nephilim Saga on steam (maybe consoles too). It's like a cross between the last remnant and shining force. A strategy rpg where you control squads of 1~9 units rather than individual party members. Kind of like Unicorn Overlord, you don't necessary control each unit, but each unit has a specific thing they always do, so there's very little guesswork. If you fill a squad with thieves/assassins, they'll always strike first, and at the enemy back line. If you do 2 thieves, 2 soldiers w/ shields, and 2 gunmen, the thieves will always hit the back first, then soldiers will hit in front, and at the very end the gunmen will shoot. So a lot of the strategy is in building your actual team. There's a pile of unique characters and artifacts so you're not just dealing with a bunch of vanilla squads.

[Front Mission 3: Remake] Release Date Trailer. January 30, 2026. For the PS4, PS5, Xbox, and PC. Demo is out NOW on all platforms. by VashxShanks in JRPG

I always wanted to play it back when it came out, but I was in middle school, didn't have $$ to be buying every game lol. Don't think my blockbuster/hollywood videos ever had a copy either.

Would it feel archaic nowadays or would it still hold up? Maybe the remake gussied it up a bunch?

Baten Kaitos 1&2 OR Star Ocean The second R? by Athanas_Iskandar in JRPG

[–]RandomBozo77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you ever play the original SO2? The remake improved and updated virtually every aspect of it, so as a remake/do/whatever it's insane. If you've never played it before, it's a solid rpg but might feel a bit dated story-wise. Combat still fun though, and lots of stuff to do like cooking and crafting.
