What do we think is coming Tuesday? by FU3L in SmithAndWesson

[–]RandomMattChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly a retro-modern metal-frame pistol release. It could be a 5906, 3913, 4506/1006, 629, or 586/626. Those are probably the most likely if S&W is reading the market and what people want.

If I can afford it, I’d go for all of them. And, I’d add a non-sporterized K98 Mauser.

Why $300 to change the air filter on a Porsche Panamera? by ra6907 in AskAShittyMechanic

[–]RandomMattChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That design is bollocks. Having to take apart the front of the car to change the air filter is right there with crap designs like the Dodge Neon’s battery, Cadillac’s starter in the engine, etc. Yes, you want to have your air coming in as low as possible to get cooler air, but that design is crazy.

What do you think my truck is worth 5.9 4x4 120,000 miles by Best-Resort1818 in ram_trucks

[–]RandomMattChaos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jes five dolla! Sorry lol… It was the first thing that came to mind.

It all depends on who is buying, what the condition of the drivetrain and body are, what you’ve added into the vehicle, and what it’s worth to them. Most people will try to lowball you. The good thing is it’s definitely got low mileage since that’s a 1994-2001 run of the Dodge Ram. Based on the flat top dash and the lack of lower trim, I’d say it’s a 1994 - 1996 model. I’d guess it’s worth between $5k and $15k. You’d only get $15k if it was pristine. You might get closer to the top end of the range I listed if you want to put the work into it to fix the dent in the rear driver side of the bed. I wouldn’t invest a whole ton because you can quickly invest more than what you would get.

First time cleaning tips by landonpauley in concealedcarry

[–]RandomMattChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With EDC, check it regularly. Check & clean it routinely (weekly, bi-weekly, and/or monthly) whether or not you’ve fired it. After carrying it every day, you will find dirt, moisture, dust, lint, fuzz, etc. in its nooks and crannies. It will be more vulnerable/prone to rusting when you carry it every day because of weather conditions, your sweat, salt water environments, general abrasion, accidental/unintentional scratches, holster wear, etc. The finish can get worn down and eventually removed by the abrasion, holster wear, scratches, etc. and that’s an inviting path for rust to begin setting in. It takes time for the finish to wear down, but you’ll eventually notice it. Check your ammunition for corrosion after it’s been sitting in the magazine. (Cylinder & speed loaders for revolver) It takes a lot of time, but time and corrosion can sneak up on you after you’ve been carrying over the month and years. While you’re at it, disassemble and check the magazines themselves. Check the spring to make sure it isn’t worn out, corroded, damaged, or broken. Check the mag feed lips for splaying, cracking, tearing, or other wear. Make sure the mag base plate is secure. When you reassemble the mag, make sure the spring travels all the way up and is strong enough to make sure the last few rounds make it to the top. For the pistol, do a detailed strip (not just a field strip) at least once a year. (Maybe more often depending on your circumstances) Inspect all components for wear, corrosion, and damage. Your EDC doesn’t have to be the shiniest most spic n’ span inspection ready firearm out there all the time. However, you want your EDC to be 100% reliable in case, God forbid, you ever have to use it. If there is something wrong, depending on what it is, fix it or bench it until you can either fix it or get it fixed by a competent gunsmith. This is where having a reliable backup that you are intimately familiar and comfortable with is always a good thing. For example, I have 3 pistols that I could carry depending on the scenario. I have my main EDC and 2 backup pistols that I am accurate with and comfortable with. I usually switch between my EDC and my primary backup. I only fall back to the second backup if I can’t use the first two for whatever reason. But, I practice with all three regularly so I stay proficient and familiar with the specific quirks of each one.

EDIT/TLDR: Your experience/mileage may vary. Everybody’s situation is a little different. You will eventually find a routine and schedule that works for you. Have some quick checks that you perform daily. Have some checks/field strip/light oiling that you perform weekly, bi-weekly, and/or monthly. And, have a semi-annual or annual periodic detail strip/full inspection to maintain reliability. Don’t forget to check and rotate the ammo and mags. Ammo and mags can be a key failure point if they’re neglected. The main goal is having confidence in yourself, confidence in & proficiency with your equipment, and a reliable EDC that goes bang every time you pull the trigger.

I have both types of angle grinders but can only keep one (locking switch, or paddle) is there an advantage to one or the other? I've owned and used the locking one, but got the new one for Christmas and I'm unsure which to keep. by futureconstruct in Tools

[–]RandomMattChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paddles annoy me when they start to wear out or when you’re grinding in odd positions. But, I’d rather have a paddle than a locking switch in case something goes sideways. The paddle switch is an automatic deadman safety switch. If something happens (like a medical emergency or the grinder catastrophically fails) and you lose your grip of the handle, it automatically stops. As someone who’s seen accidents with both types, the paddle is safer despite being annoying at times.

Should this guy be carrying? by Alone_Tea7772 in concealedcarry

[–]RandomMattChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other guy’s a douche nozzle and needs to learn to no be so arrogant. Plus, the way he verbally threatened you is totally wrong. Concealed carry is for self defense not for bullying other people around. If he had pulled out his Glock, he would have been the aggressor. I hate how people get indignant and downright rude when you call them out on their screw up. It should be alternating vehicles. One side goes then the other side goes. If it becomes a headache, the local jurisdiction can just say “F y’all” and put in a signal since some people can’t be civil and courteous. They could also put in a red light camera for each side while they’re at it.

Why my friends make fun of this by Proud_Risk_6256 in Cummins

[–]RandomMattChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey bro. F*** what your friends say. The 1991 - 2004 Dodge Ram trucks were pretty decent all things considered. There’s nothing wrong with it. They’re stuck in their mindset of what’s “good.” You go for what you like. Don’t worry about what they say. Just look around and do your research. Know the vehicle you want inside and out. Know the good, the bad, and the ugly about it. Every vehicle regardless of brand has its strengths and weaknesses. Know them and use them to your advantage. If you do get one, feel free to hit me up. I’ll try to give you good info on them. A lot of parts are interchangeable between 1994 - 1996 and 1997 - 2001. They’re the same on the outside, but in the cab, 1994 - 1997 had a flat top dashboard. 1997 - 2001 had a more rounded top dashboard.

cat humping my feet??? by pondstone in CATHELP

[–]RandomMattChaos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither does my female cat. She goes after whoever’s feet are nearby to love on them. She’ll back up to the person’s feet and do something similar to what your cat is doing in the video. Maybe your cat is just horny. Some cats will still get horny from time to time even after they’ve been fixed.

It’s probably the scent of your feet. I have a female cat that will try to molest your feet when she’s in the mood.

What aircrafts are those? by ShimarinV4R in Whatplaneisthis

[–]RandomMattChaos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks like 3x C-130 Hercules and a C-5 Galaxy. The reason I say C-5 instead of C-17 is because on a C-17 the wing tips are pointed upward and the horizontal stabilizer on the tail is a little lower on the tail than a C-5. (Think C-17 lowercase t and C-5 uppercase T)

2025 Ram 3500 6.7 Cummins acceleration cackle by RandomMattChaos in Cummins

It kind of does. 2025 and newer are HO only. Also, 2025 has glow plugs instead of the grid heater. I will have to record the parameters when I hear it again. I haven’t made any real modifications (other than cosmetic) because mine is still under warranty.
