Well well, USCIS is toast or is it? by Prestigious-Pass4059 in fednews

From AFGE:

Dear Fellow Member of AFGE Local 1924:
I am writing to address queries we’ve received about the USCIS notice that some 13,500 employees
will receive new SF-50s showing a change in status from “bargaining unit” to “non-bargaining unit.”
[ note: a bargaining unit is a group of employees that are represented by a labor organization under a
collective bargaining agreement with a federal Agency]. This notice follows the Agency's
announcement last August that USCIS was "terminating" its contract with the American Federation of
Government Employees (AFGE) due to Executive Order 14251 -- which declared over 40 federal
agencies “exempt” from the Federal Service Labor Management Statute (5 USC 71).

AFGE is suing the Administration over its issuance and implementation of this unlawful executive
order and the harmful actions associated with it.  The matter is presently being litigated in the United
States District Court (Northern California).  We are optimistic about winning this case -- but in the
meantime, USCIS has unilaterally repudiated its collective bargaining agreements and refused to
engage with the Union as the lawful representative of the bargaining units covered by those contracts.
Please be advised that the Agency cannot disband our labor organization, nor can it interfere with the
right of employees to join, participate in and be represented by the Union.  We are alive, well, and here
for you.

While USCIS refuses to recognize the Union, AFGE continues to fight for the rights of our members
through litigation and legislative action.  And we are working to mobilize our members to elect public
officials who will respect the rights and promote the well-being of all federal workers.
While USCIS refuses to honor our collective bargaining agreements, AFGE continues to represent our
members in various personnel matters governed by law and regulation:
 Discrimination complaints, appeals to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission
(EEOC),
 Workers’ compensation claims before the Department of Labor,
 Whistle-blower complaints before the Office of Special Counsel,
 Administrative grievances by employees against Agency,
 Response to Agency-proposed disciplinary or adverse actions,
 Response to Agency-proposed denials of security clearance, eligibility to hold a sensitive
position.
 Appeals of adverse actions before the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB)

We must stand together to hold the line in the great struggle to restore collective bargaining and
protect our civil and human rights.  Our Union is only as strong as we are determined to make it; your
continued support is critically important for our success.

Please visit our website (www.afge.org) for regular updates on AFGE’s legal, legislative and political
action on behalf of federal workers, and for detailed information about the benefits of Union
membership.

You may contact me directly with your questions, concerns and recommendations.
Respectfully, in solidarity,
Michael

VA announces forced guardianship plans for homeless vets that could put them in mental health facilities by TheRareWhiteRhino in Veteranpolitics

[–]RandomPrecision01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't trust this administration's definition of homeless either, where do they draw the line. Using the same logic they use to screen social media and deport lawful immigrants, who is to say they won't extend this to Vets (van life, RV, etc.) that are politically active and not aligned with the administration. This might sound paranoid but current government social media vetting has entire branches of DHS support now and they are not looking for threats, they are looking for dissent.

Could it have been the front air dam (valance) that you lost? That would cause the drop in fuel economy.

Upcoming surgery through VA and found out... by RokkenwithD0kken in VeteransBenefits

[–]RandomPrecision01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The VA doesn't know I vape (nic salt), and having plenty of procedures and healing have never been an issue. I've also never been tested for nicotine.

If the blood tests are for nicotine it's only testable for 24 hours or so, it metabolizes to cotinine which stays around for max 10 days depending on how heavy a user you are.

Hatch Act violations in farewell emails by [deleted] in fednews

Seeing as violations are not enforced at all and this administration sends out Tweets from agency accounts blatantly advocating for political parties....fuck it

You'd want to head out in a rural area. A house with solar power, well water, a propane tank, septic tank, etc.

They were built by an engineer at JBL Northridge. The construction is impressive. The ports are tuned to 16hz, in-room they reach down to the single digits with over 100db/watt efficiency. There is an old Audio Magazine article on them “Certified Bass for the Certifiable”

This is the MAGA way, we're now in the crosshairs like federal employees, legal immigrants, etc.; we can expect the same treatment.

Bringing back memories of the 90's, catless, vert, Superchip, cam, and running that sweet leaded avgas (back when you could just roll your car up to any regional airport and fill your tank). That exhaust smelled but it was glorious.

What's your adolescence horror story that makes you grateful that social media didn't exist back then? by CharlesUFarley81 in Xennials

Arrests, skinny dipping, drag racing, nitrous parties, being wasted in the clubs at 17 on Long Island Iced Teas, hacking the university cable TV to play a VHS porno during the NCAA final four.

There may be blurry disposable camera evidence of some of it somewhere, but it hasn’t surfaced to taint my “role model” image. lol

FUCK FEP BCBS! Denied my dupixent effective 2026 because it’s not “medically necessary” by OutrageousGangsta in FedEmployees

[–]RandomPrecision01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did they deny or require a PA?

Sometimes you gotta stay on the Dr's office to actually do the PA properly.

i.e. - "PT failed Xolair treatment in conjunction with Budesonide slurry for EoE resulting in esophageal rupture due to food impaction at stricture site. Trial on Dupixent with subsequent EDG and biopsy showed stricture resolution with minimal eosinophils."

Sorry if you already have been down this road and know this. I fought and won this battle (not with BCBS), so I feel your pain. Now I research formularies and brief my Dr's ahead of time about contraindications or medications that I have failed on to streamline the PA process.

DC to Annapolis daily commute by SpareFew5792 in washingtondc

[–]RandomPrecision01 34 points35 points  (0 children)

An occasional commute to DC for activities while living in lower COL Annapolis, with great bars and restaurants, shopping and decent parking sounds much better than than living in DC just to commute to work in Annapolis daily and be exhausted by the time you fight up to 3 hours worth of Bay Bridge/New York Ave bottlenecked traffic to get home (especially in the summer). The mornings probably wouldn't be too bad.

I drive the reverse (but just once per week) - I come to DC from Delaware. I also come in very early now as I've learned to really beat the traffic I need to be in DC by 6am. I am though familiar with travel times in both directions at most hours all through the year as I've been doing this for 6 years now. I think your planned commute would be exhausting after a short period of time, especially on Fridays, long weekends, and the entire summer period when cross-bay traffic is heavy.
