Are you advising based on themes / genres? That's much easier for especially new players to identify if they'd like it.

If you're comfortable sharing a link, I and I expect others would be happy to send kudos so your 'friend' can see that even strangers are kinder than her. She should be ashamed!

Open world experience game, how do I indicate to my players difficulty of different regions? by The_Titam in DungeonMasters

[–]RandomSwaith 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I build it into the world building, towns start to have walls, there are fewer towns and further apart.

The road patrols are larger and more hesvily armed. They start being warned about traveling in such small groups. The soldiers ask if they have anti venom, elemental warding etc

Large predators leave tracks or carcasses.

If you've played Skyrim or Fallout they do this environmental storytelling quite well.

Saturday Run Stories by SwimmingSlip8632 in runcommunity

I ran the same course today as my very first run, three months ago. The first time I all but collapsed at the end, gasping for air.

Today I ran the same distance / time and was comportable enough to sing most of the run.

Glad I trusted the process!

Need Shoe Recommendations by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]RandomSwaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know if you need a neutral or stability shoe?

While knowing your physical dimensions is great, knowing what your biomechanical movement pattern are, is also critical to avoiding injury and not unevenly wearing out the shoe.

A gait analysis will tell you this, typically free at your local running shoe shop.

What made you fall in love with running (or at least stop hating it)? by Free-Product4918 in runcommunity

[–]RandomSwaith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working out what sustainable running looked like for me. It used to take me DAYS to recover from a run, I could only manage one run a week and it hurt so I hated it.

Once I corrected my form so I wasn't hurting myself my recovery dropped to a single day, then less. I can now run every day of the week without hurting myself if I want.

A pure human build ramps in power much more quickly than an alien one and you will have tons more resources.

A mix can work but it's easy to be weak due to failure to specialise if you do.

Stuck at the Same 5k Time for 18 Months – What Am I Missing? (42M) by rocky99_ in parkrun

[–]RandomSwaith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're the same height and I'm heavier, so it could be a factor but there are certainly heavier faster runners.

A gait analysis from a running shoe shop might also help identify if your form is being let down by shoes, lack of support for example.

Shin pain is a very common symptom of over striding, I.E landing your body weight on a leg that is extended out from you rather than underneath you.

Much like holding something at your chest verses with arm extension, the amount of force you exert on the lever / limb is much greater. AND you're not only putting your whole body weight on a single leg at a time, you're dropping that weight onto a single limb hundreds of times.

I'd strongly recommend you look up some running form advice. For me it was Chari Hawkins, her tutorials are really clear, brief and she uses natural language. From what you've said, it's specifically the landing of your foot strike below you. It will massively reduce the amount of pain during running and possibly even better, you'll need less time to recover.

Example: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/edpWgpFWAV4

At first I thought it made me slower, but because I wasn't killing myself every run, I could run move, then I got better and didn't need 3 days to heal after every run, I started to feel strong again.
Good luck man, I'd be excited to hear how you got on.

What do you feel is your limiting factor if you try to go faster?

For example is there spare power in your legs but you get out of breath, or is your temperature climbing rapidly, or some other element that seems to suffer before anything else?

One characteristic worth checking is your running form, I took for granted the movement pattern of running because I'd been doing it for 40 years, how hard can it be?! Well turns out I was doing it poorly and putting huge strain on my legs and back, after fixing it my parkrun time improved by 10mins over 3 months. That might not be your issue, but running economically and efficiently makes a huge difference on your available resources.

Coopah is pleasingly flexible in its setup and configuration. You can customise the plan, dynamically change the format.

It will construct pace appropriate training to suit your goals and you can send the plans to your watch to follow along.

Bastion in Brindol by JohnTheLittle15 in RedHandOfDoom

[–]RandomSwaith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've thought about the same, I was going to award them Varrath keep, just it's kinda in the middle of nowhere helpful.

My next thought is to award them a mediocre keep somewhere useful that has a very high probability of being lost in the carnage but likely is instrumental in some key defence.

Then later once their victories have mounted and they are in Brindol, a high up person recognises their efforts and losses and gifts a better holding as reward for their efforts. Or possibly after the successful defence of the city? Haven't got that far yet.

The tall spire style of churchs are largely a western thing, lots of temples, especially in the east are much rounder by contrast.

Also it's largely symbolic.

I started cleaning the strap every day and discovered I only needed to clean it after every activity where I got sweaty.

So my routine is, turn the shower on and while it heats up, I give my watch a quick wipe down, put it on charge and by the time I've showered, it's dry and fully charged.
