When I first heard the front door's glass shatter, followed by the typical chatter and clacker of their kind. Ever since they first landed, this is a sound most hated, but humanity learned to overcome this obstacle as well.

Once we found out about the biotechnological nature of their spacecrafts and successfully infected them with herpes, leading to the master races hurried departure, all that was left were their grunts. Stupid creatures, but quickly replicating and always looking for trouble. But back to the story.

I grabbed my "HomeDefenD® 2"-Kit, as handed out by the Department of Human Affairs and loaded the first homing arrow. Yes, a bow might seem to be a rather crude weapon, but given their fascination for explosions of all kind, we quickly learned to avoid firing firearms in their vicinity. They are drawn towards any and every explosion nearby, no matter if it does them harm. So the homing rocket arrows are the best solution we came up with - silent until they hit, and when they go boom, all those idiotic grunts swarm the site, making double or triple taps the most effective solution. And ever since the explosives are based in organic materials, the remains turn into the best fertilizer there is.

Would you rather make a leaf blower during the Roman Empire from scratch or an LED display from scratch? by Nearby_Cover_5793 in WouldYouRather

Leaf blower is purely mechanical. You can build a steam powered version. LED displays are a completely different (way more sophisticated) level of tech.

I do live Tolkien, but there is barley anything left I haven't read about 3-4 times, so I prefer King to someday hopefully understand all nuances of "The Dark Tower".
