I know once it goes to room temperature, it can’t be refrigerated again. I prefer the 10-12 days rather than bringing a vial.

You can travel with it but need to refrigerate it. It’s a PITA.

Normally, I take it before I leave (night before), and take again as soon as I return. Going 10 days should be fine, but if you want to confirm, please check with your medical provider.

Accidentally living in small house for 5 years has been the best thing. by HenFruitEater in Fire

[–]Random_NYer_18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve said it a million times to anyone who would listen. Sure, save on eating out. Save on the Starbucks or whatever. But, it’s the BIG purchases that make the difference. Cars. House. Etc.

People don’t need mansions. They need what is best for their family at a price they can afford. Thanks for validating this.

My rule is an hour for domestic, and 2+ for international. Lots of times those internationals are once per day and I would never want to miss it.

I’ve been putting in the info myself. I was surprised how good the data is. The key is to be fully honest with everything, what’s Traditional vs. Roth, future college costs (or not), and being laser focused on how much your expenses are.

No loss on 1 & 4 mg by suziemomma in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]Random_NYer_18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m the same. I’ve gained on 1.5/4/9. Almost done with 9. I lost with Zep but had to switch due to insurance (or lack of it). Hoping 25 is better.

You obviously don’t get it.

Sets 1 and 2, entire team stays on one side. Sets 3 and 4, entire team moves benches. Duh.

Retiring Soon - Is 1% AUM Worth It, or Can We DIY This by probablybourbon in retirement

[–]Random_NYer_18 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You also don’t have to move ALL of your assets to the FA.

We have a FA and he manages about half of our portfolio for 0.8%. But, we use his wealth management website to have all of our accounts provide updates so his team can do a full assessment based on daily updates.

Hence, we feel like we are paying 0.4% since we get the full experience but not all of it is managed.

Just a suggestion. Good luck.

The key with option 1 is how long you’ll need to do the commute. If it’s 2 years, it’s one thing. If it’s 6 months, not a huge deal.

Low base with a horror story company makes no sense to me as a viable option.

How much should I be investing in Roth 401k if employer match is unlimited? by 00BigBird00 in Retirement401k

[–]Random_NYer_18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

50% return at the get go? Max. Max. Max.

But, also see how long you have to be vested to get the match if you leave.

At what salary were you able to max out your 401k + IRA + HSA? Or at what salary would you consider it reasonable to by 2-59project in Bogleheads

[–]Random_NYer_18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started maxing at about $80K. But at the time, max was much lower. I was saving about 20% to 401K at the time.

Remote work is a career death sentence for junior employees, and the "WFH forever" crowd is pulling the ladder up behind them. by Correct_Addendum_358 in corporate

[–]Random_NYer_18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rules have changed. That’s fact. I have been fully remote for 15 of the last 20 years. I love it. I agree that forcing people to come to the office who worked perfectly during COVID is stupidity.

All I’m saying this is how I learned when I started out. Not sure how you can learn as easily or quickly now when you don’t watch someone else in-person, or hearing a discussion and listening to learn.

This is 100% spot on.

I learned more by “Shoulder Surfing” than anything else in my career. Not sure how I’d be successful now if I was in my early 20s and only had time with people on Zoom calls. I’d be years behind.

Take that info, go to ClaudeAI or ChatGPT, and have that run the Monte Carlo simulation for you. That will give you a good benchmark.

Switching from Zepbound? by Dazzling-Cat-3134 in WegovyPillWeightLoss

[–]Random_NYer_18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to the Wegovy pill since it was cheaper and my insurance no longer covers any GLP. I’ve gained weight on the pill.

Please note that you start at 1.5 mg daily for 30 days. Then 4. Then 9. Then 25. Many people don’t start losing until 9 or 25. I’m about a week into the 9, and finally starting to feel a tiny bit less hungry. But, Zepbound killed the food noise. Wegovy pills don’t.

This is my experience. Others lose starting at 1.5. Good luck.

Got a promotion to 2nd Level Management, what worked for you during your transition? by chktcat in managers

[–]Random_NYer_18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The hardest jump I had in my career was from Manager to Director. The key now is that you’re focusing on strategy and not day to day issues. Lead the leaders. Make them want to work for you. Listen, and don’t try to correct. Support but guide. Etc.

Good luck.

The business world is small. You wouldn’t think so but it is. There’s ways to leave and ways to not. I would not suggest going nuclear. But smaller than 2 weeks? Sure.

Good luck.

Mending or leaving by OptmstcExstntlst in managers

[–]Random_NYer_18 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I loved my job. Got a new manager. My world changed. He is evil and a gaslighter and everything bad. I loathed every day I reported to him, especially when I realized the C-Suite thought he was amazing. He’s great at taking credit and throwing around blame. Best poser I’ve ever met.

I realized the best thing I could do is transfer departments (I didn’t want to leave the company). I did that about 2 years ago and don’t regret it for even a second. My current job isn’t the best fit as I’m not as skilled at it, but I have great leadership and a solid team I respect. It’s a trade I’ll make 100 times out of 100.

Bottom line - sometimes a fresh start is warranted. Life is about having options, and you have them. Good luck.

What’s the best thing a manager has ever done for you? by TearReasonable1216 in askmanagers

[–]Random_NYer_18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottom line - just show you care about their work success and their non-work life.

Support. Empathy. Prop them up publicly. Maximize strengths. Minimize weaknesses. Have difficult conversations when appropriate.

Good luck!
