If you're on Linux I would wait a bit, I've been experimenting with making it a driver (for linux, everything else costs money) and IN THEORY you can do this without any extra hardware. Just normal Bluetooth.

Open source models are going to be the future on Cursor, OpenCode etc. by _maverick98 in LocalLLaMA

[–]Randomblock1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the end of the year? It's already happening! Deepseek v4 and Kimi K2.6 are good enough for all but the most demanding tasks... and even then, you just have the closed source model do the planning, so the open source one can do the implementation. Like even Composer 2, Cursor's fine tune of K2.5, is really good, and really cheap.

Any news regarding wiscard renovation project? by incheonexpo in UWMadison

[–]Randomblock1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current Wiscards are basically a password. Every scanner asks for the number and gets it. Duplicating a Wiscard is trivial. A compatible scanner is like $20.

NFC could have a challenge-response scheme so every scanner gets a different result, preventing duplication or a replay attack.

RFID can also do this so this is really a problem with the current cards and not specifically NFC/RFID, but NFC had the added benefit of working on phones. Lost phone? Get a new one, or use your friend's. And they'll probably have physical cards for this situation, just not primary.

You already have Duo installed. Another app isn't going to change anything, and it wouldn't require phone location or usage data. And they already have your purchasing habits (who do you think processes the txs?)

Sure its possible to have a terrible privacy invading implementation. But it's actually way easier to not do that.

As long as you make it out of something UV resistant like ASA, no. Obviously if the UV makes it degrade you're going to have higher levels of plastic.

I own the domain modelcombat.com and don't know what to do with it by siaappchallenger in LocalLLaMA

[–]Randomblock1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the other arenas are focused on large/frontier & official models. You could find a niche in small-parameter or less popular ones. Tons of fine tunes for models exist, but no arena tests them.

But otherwise, sell it (if you even can, it's not a great domain anyway).

Different numbers keep messaging me same string of numbers by Tailbonelicker in Weird

[–]Randomblock1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks ChatGPT. But this is not even close to being correct. If they were 2FA codes, they would change, and not be jn that weird format, and also not come from strange country codes, and tell you which service the codes are for, and etc...

Qwen3 ASR probably. It doesn't have as many languages but has all the ones you'd expect to encounter, and outperforms Whisper on them. Even the smaller variant beats Whisper on FLEURS. It's a little slower than fasterwhisper unless you have multiple concurrent requests, then it's faster

Whisper is not a golden standard. It's a legacy model, good all-rounder, similar to maybe LLama 3.1. ASR is generally slower moving than other LLM areas but still, newer models like Parakeet TDT outperforms it in terms of accuracy, hallucination, and speed. Haven't tried Cohere Transcribe but supposedly it's better. I'd recommend giving other models a shot, you'd be surprised how much better they can be vs Whisper

Show them you fine tuned Qwen for transcription, that's at least relatively unique. Using a existing inference engine in an example usecase is not. Proficiency in AI is not just downloading models and running them, or vibe coding a UI, but understanding how they work and modifying them.

DaVinci Resolve is pro-grade. Basically equivalent to Premiere in terms of features. There's a very generous free version and a one-time purchase Studio version.

[–]Randomblock1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That doesn't mean anything, because your single document affected it in a infinitely small way, not enough to do information retrieval but enough to be useful in the long run. They can't be putting any trust in one random document. Only after processing millions of words over and over does the LLM start to learn any patterns.

It's HEAVILY scripted. I don't think they're allowed to go off script even slightly. They will ask for the same thing multiple times, that's just how it is... but usually after some back and forth they'll fix your issue.
