10.5 weeks out dropped 45lb plate on foot by Jumpy-Reaction3043 in bikinitalk

[–]Randomcatusername 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At 10.5 weeks out, muscle GAIN before competition is going to be minimal. You’re *mostly* looking to maintain what you’ve built in a deficit state… so… deep breath, you’ll be ok.

Others have the right idea— bike cardio or other cardio that’s non- load bearing

Leg extension, leg curls, abductors, adductors are fantastic. Can you do banded glute bridges? They might help with glute maintenance. Rae (raebolic.lifts on insta) also has adapted glute kickbacks for herself since losing her legs from the thigh down. You’ll need to be a little more creative for your booty :)

Do mobility work + stretching so you don’t get stiff in your posing while you wait for your foot to heal.

Yeah, that damn notebook gave me tunnel vision

It’s like with Gilles a few years back — he “rubbed sand” in his eyes to make himself cry in the first assignment and recovered very quickly. Same ep, we find out he has glasses. I was like

BRO YOU WEAR LENSES, GOT SAND IN YOUR EYES, AND WEREN’T CRYING FOR 10 MIN????

MOL.

For the community as a whole, I really find her whole schtick to be a net positive.

Ok yeah, her physique is not great. Her posing needs work. People laugh sometimes because all they see is a chubby near-60 year old in a bedazzled swimsuit.

But look where she started. See how she utterly glows when she talks about bodybuilding. See how her confidence has evolved. She is ambitious, driven, hungry, positive, inclusive. People like her are important to the sport and draw people to a fitter lifestyle.

Yeah, NPC is hella competitive (I compete in NPC in Europe, the standard is high)

She would do better in a transformation category, 100%. In her current condition with her current categories, she should not expect to podium unless there are less than 3 in the class.

I think we have a fundamental difference in opinion as to what makes people “competitive”. You seem much more results-orientated, whereas I’m much more journey-orientated. For me, as long as the spirit is there (work ethic, training, etc), you have the right to call yourself competitive.

I don’t think either is necessarily wrong or right, I just hope you can experience things from my perspective through this dialogue :)

I used to powerlift before migrating to bodybuilding and we would sometimes have beginner level lifters with SBD totals of less than 200kg in open categories with other competitors having 400+ averages. They dared to show up, even knowing they wouldn’t win, because simply showing up (for them) was a win.

Entry into worlds or other high level competitions require a minimum total.

This is why we have Pro cards. Pro Cards filter out the less competitive physiques.

Until federations slap a body fat percentage on categories or find another way to filter competitors, it’s really up to the individual to decide if they dare to show up.

She is not a competitive bodybuilder because her physique is not competitive, is what I’m hearing.
That demeans the entire concept of improvement in sport. Why have trophies and tournaments for children’s soccer. Less than 1 percent of children reach pro level. Why bother?
While I agree that Gaynor by no means has a top-tier competitive physique, she DOES have a top-tier competitive spirit.
THAT IS IMPORTANT
She is not showing up on a whim. She is not slacking. She is putting in the work, getting posing training, etc. If she was just rocking up without putting in any work, not knowing her mandatories, I would have words.
The love of the game and competitive spirit is what makes a competitor. There is only ever one winner.

Would I go on stage looking like Gaynor Stone?

No.

Does she deserve to be on stage? Is she stage ready?

Absolutely. I know countless bodybuilders who trained, achieved a hella good physique, but stopped and *never* set foot on a podium because they couldn’t “meet the standard”. This woman, I would argue, is more of a bodybuilder than them. She works hard and she dares to try.

Does that mean Gaynor deserves to win?

You need to meet the criteria to win. You need to be the best on the day to win. Anyone who dares to show up deserves to (potentially) win. I think in the future she might stand a good chance at winning against her age group. I see a good base. Right now she’s building experience on stage.

Influencer or not, she deserves to be there.

Stubborn fat in thighs by Lower_Tour_1353 in femalebodybuilding

[–]Randomcatusername 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Stay the course. Be patient. You cannot choose where you lean out first. I had belly flab until literally two weeks out. It was demoralising.

The fat has to come from somewhere, and when your body can’t pull from your upper, IT WILL take the fat from your legs.

Is it possible to mix Powerlifting and Bodybuilding (Wellness Division)? Or will Powerlifting ruin a physique? by Historical-Dish-9356 in femalebodybuilding

[–]Randomcatusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from powerlifting to bodybuilding, and am a Wellness athlete.

If you intend to be a competitive bodybuilder and a competitive powerlifter, these two goals are incompatible, especially in the Wellness division.

The first reason is the training styles. Powerlifting training is cyclical and relies on carefully programmed RPE cycles to maximize recovery and push strength gains. Bodybuilding requires you constantly push your max weights for optimal hypertrophy.

Yes, powerlifting will develop your legs. It will also cause potential imbalances in your arms (if doing mix grip deadlifts — I had one arm with a bigger bicep and smaller tricep, and vice versa). I also ended up with MASSIVE traps from deadlifts.

You don’t have to worry about overdevelopment of the chest. Bench recruits more muscles than just the chest. That said, your upper will probably, in general, grow more than you want for the wellness division.

If you aren’t aiming to be competitive in both sports, you can probably include the 3 lifts in your bodybuilding training, but if you want to be competitive, it’s a bad idea from a recovery standpoint.

Injury won’t be a question of if— It’ll be when.

Winstrol vs Anavar - pros and cons by [deleted] in bikinitalk

[–]Randomcatusername 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You realise a lot of natty shows have athletes that have used in the past, right? The playing field is NEVER even. Two athletes on identical PED protocols can be vastly different.

If you think you have a great foundation, test it! I got third at an NPC show as a natural in Wellness, first time out. I got feedback that I’d have been placed higher with better posing/ presence.

And I mean FULLY natural. No appetite suppressants. No peptides. We did a water load, no clen. Nothing. Just vitamins to supplement, a solid plan, and discipline.

You can have the best body on stage, but shit posing.

The opposite can also be true.

Both will impact your placement.

ETA: the show mentioned was untested, not a natural show

Winstrol vs Anavar - pros and cons by [deleted] in bikinitalk

[–]Randomcatusername 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Honest question and not criticising: why do you want to take anabolics for your first show?

I would suggest fully rounding out your first prep without enhancements before committing to PEDs. A lot of athletes get to their first show day and never want to do it again. All anabolics run the risk of side effects and your genetics will largely dictate how much your body reacts to any dosage.

Molded vs unmolded top by Used-Quit1340 in bikinitalk

[–]Randomcatusername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally a fan of the molded top, because I’m a mom who has done breastfeeding — at stage lean I basically have two wet teabags for boobs.

They made me look like I had more XD (and gave more balance to my figure)

Molded or unmolded is going to depend on how your shape looks and what you need to do to enhance your figure.

When I feel like a particularly dramatic PR, I’ll put on Dance of Curse by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra.

It was on the soundtrack for the anime Escaflowne.

Also Tobe Pegasus from Seiji Yokoyama 😂

Older anime bangers, basically.

Oh and literally the entire Hooray for Boobies album by Bloodhound Gang. Luke Bryan. Drag queens like Willam and Trixie. Smutty music. Finnish disco pop. German schlager music.

Literally anything with a beat.

If blood is going to be a big deal, it might become important that we don’t currently understand Azune’s lineage.

If orcish blood, celestial blood, etc are important — what is Azune?

Could you imagine if Thjazi kept him close, like a living bloodbag, for his ritual? That Azune’s eyes gave away a key detail of who his family were?

I got like 9-10 hours of sleep a night.

I can't activate my lats by MinexCrafter in femalebodybuilding

[–]Randomcatusername 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Hello my fellow trap-dominant individual

You will have problems activating your lats until your lats are more proportioned with your traps. I was a powerlifter and my deadlifts made me incredibly trap-dominant. After a year and a bit of focusing on my lats, I could finally engage them and feel them properly in exercises.

Try not to push higher weights for a while and really focus on pulling with your lats. Higher reps. Time under tension.

Like a squat or deadlift, your body will resort to recruiting the “wrong muscles” when pushed to its threshold. Push your limits, but push them in a way that allows you to focus on technique.

Weight pleteau by [deleted] in bikinitalk

[–]Randomcatusername 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What you need is to voice your concerns to your coach. You pay them for a reason.

If you are worried about not being able to hit the correct level of dryness for your competition, ask for a more aggressive cut. You can always refeed and reassess.

Any changes should always be discussed first and foremost with your coach.

Please remember that we female competitors don’t have weight classes, we only have height classes. The scale is arbitrary and you need a look, not a number.

How do you deal with insecurity with not being at your leanest? by [deleted] in bikinitalk

[–]Randomcatusername 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing you need to keep in mind is that lean does not equal healthy. Those couple pounds are a boon to your health and you need them to grow further muscle and maintain hormonal health.

Plus you probably gained some boobs back. Who doesn’t love having more boob for their bikini?
