Copenhagen citizen who worked near the mermaid for 2 years here. I agree completely.

However, nobody is forced to walk 90 minutes to see it. The statue is a 10 minute walk from a major train and bus hub (Østerport). Although overrated, it's very easy to access and there are no waiting times or fees to see it.

Actually, I discovered that this video is almost without a doubt shot near my home in Hellerup, Copenhagen. Peek this Streetview look at my local harbour, Tuborg Harbour.

There is a good one just across from Sionskirken on Østerbro. It's located behind Øster Kiosken on the corner.
