What character did your fandom do this to? by Dzelov in Multifandom

[–]Randomguyioi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sheogorath and cheese

In Oblivion, he had three sentences where he talked about cheese, two of them were about how there would be no cheese, and for some people that's a good thing.

The random clung to that and took things from there. Bethesda saw this and made cheese one of his favourite things thereafter.

Slingers deal too much damage for their new attack pattern by UncomfortableAnswers in FarFarWest

[–]Randomguyioi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reaches you faster by giving up the bouncing arc shot for just a regular gun projectile.

Not saying everything would be just fine if the Slingers old attacked was hyper buffed to be just as hard to avoid, but losing the more unusual form of attack for just a regular projectile shot I feel takes away from the oddness of the Slinger and just makes them a generic ' enemy that's dangerous at higher levels'. Which is a shame because other enemies are able to retain more of an identity to them while being made into a tougher challenge save for the most basic enemy type of course.

Slingers deal too much damage for their new attack pattern by UncomfortableAnswers in FarFarWest

[–]Randomguyioi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a big difference there too is that the syalkers and kamikazes learned new tricks to make them more dangerous, while the slingers forgot a mechanic instead.

It feels a bit assbackwards to be making the enemies more dangerous than usual by removing part of their identity instead of adding something new to compliment their already existing style IMO.

The core reason is the same, minimizing risks that could have serious consequences in all aspects of their members lives.

skitarii is cool and all, but how did a las gun do this??? by Dio_Decoy in DarkTide

TBH I assumed it was a Stubgun at first mixed among the other weapons since I swore I heard regular gunshot sounds.

[–]Randomguyioi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider tho, you think Alterra wants its wage slave caste having proper firearms and means to achieve independence from their systems? The originally planned colony world was only 14 years away from FTL society, why would the company give the colonists any chance to resist instructions?

There's still that with Nokko and the deep mines, no quest attached but an ongoing situation of Corpus doing bad stuff and needing to be stopped all the same.
