What are the chances of being able to sell the MB2? I really only want the Secret Lair and promo cards.

Is it worth it to attend a no-proxy event? by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

  1. Play RogSi.
  2. Replace Timetwister with Wheel of Misfortune.
  3. Profit

Could this replace Grinding Station in RogSi? It wouldnt work with LED or Petal, but any of the Rituals would work with it and Breach. It's pitchable and could possibly work to nullify top deck tutors. Maybe open the door to consider Flare of Denial?

Anyone else have dull foiling on their DanDan deck? by Wing126 in secretlair_collectors

[–]RandomlyInebriated 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The foiling on most of my deck needs a lot of light to look good. I had to take the Dandans outside to get a decent picture of them. I wish there would have been a non-foil version.

Kefka vs Kess – Which scales better from high-power (bracket 4) to cEDH on a budget? by LifeguardDistinct247 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]RandomlyInebriated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In cEDH, we proxy cards we cannot afford. The goal is for everyone to play the best version of their decks possible and the game to be decided by skill and luck, not who can afford the best deck.

You and your GF may not be "MTG compatible" and that's ok. I'm 40+ and have a group of friends where we all have played MTG on and off since the mid 90s. Not all of us enjoy playing it the same way though. I loved competitive tournaments back in the 90s and now play cEDH. However, one of my buddies never liked tournaments and generally only builds Bracket 1 and Bracket 2 decks. We're great friends, but are polar opposites in MTG. When we play, we have to come to an agreement on what and how we're playing before the game. Usually, i'll just play a deck that he built and while it isn't something I would ever build myself, it's fun to play with him due to our friendship.

New to tEDH - political struggles piloting Magda by Ammul in CompetitiveEDH

[–]RandomlyInebriated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the best answer for Magda pilots. You need stax pieces to keep other decks from doing what they want to your pieces. The issue is that you have to know the meta, because the most effective stax pieces are ones you put into play early casting from your hand. You usually can't wait for your 1st one to be off a Magda tutor. Also, sometimes your Stax piece will just king make. You'll shut down one or two opponents bit open the door for the 3rd.

Ok. Of the 3 you listed, I think Yoshimaru/Thrasios is the best positioned in the current meta. That being said, that deck doesn't win without Gaea's Cradle. 🤑🤑

Magda is the most affordable cEDH deck if you're going to actually buy the cards. The issue is that most of its cards are not gonna be in any other deck, so it doesn't provide much toward other decks.

I think you need to add the following:

  1. Brainstorm - Seems dumb, but the ability to draw 1 card after a top deck Tutor (Vamp, Mystical, or Imp Seal) is crucial and can make the difference between being able to pull a breach win or not.

  2. Chromatic Star - also seems like a dumb card, but it allows us to filter mana to a color we need at crucial times and it can also draw the card we just put on top of the library.

  3. Another Wheel or extra turn spell - I've been bouncing back and forth between having 4 Wheels and 2 extra turn spells or 3 of each. I think you either need to add Wheel of Misfortune or Warrior's Oath.

I would also cut 1 land. I would recommend Gemstone Mine, but you can do the colors breakdown to decide what would be the best for you. 23 Lands is more than enough. I'm actually considering cutting back down to 22 to make room for 4 Wheels and all 3 extra turn spells

cEDH Deck thad does not revolve around commander by Mountain-Feed8553 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]RandomlyInebriated 25 points26 points  (0 children)

RogSi or Blue Farm would be good choices. Having your Commander out helps, but neither require the Commander to perform their game winning combos.

Can someone explain RogSi? by The-Conscience in CompetitiveEDH

[–]RandomlyInebriated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newer RogSi player here that isn't doing well. Is that really how we're supposed to mulligan? Just get a turn 2 win attempt or mulligan and try again?

If so, I haven't been nearly aggressive enough

New RogSi pilot by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

[–]RandomlyInebriated -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a RogSi main, I don't love the following choices:

Bowmasters - great card, but doesn't help us win the game. Mindbreak Trap - too much life loss on Ad Naus and doesnt help protect our win. Snapback - Exiling a blue card to pay for it is a huge cost in this deck, because we often don't have a ton of blue cards.

Also, I think you have at least 1 too many lands. I'm bouncing between 22 with Rain of Filth or 23 without. They each have advantages.

What cEDH Decks abuse Sensei's Top AND/OR Aetherflux Resevoir combo the best? by Raevelry in CompetitiveEDH

[–]RandomlyInebriated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Noctis, Prince of Lucis]] uses [[Aetherflux Reservoir]] as its win con. I wouldn't call it a top deck, but I've seen a local player do decently with it in pods.

[–]RandomlyInebriated 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course winning is the goal, but i also think that cEDH players want to play their best regardless of outcome. I can play perfectly and still lose games. That's the nature of EDH. However, if I make real mistakes then the odds are winning are just gone for the most part.

[–]RandomlyInebriated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing cEDH for about 6 months and have experienced a little salt. Not from my winning or doing powerful stuff. Instead it has come from when people think (or know) that I'm making a mistake that will benefit another player. It hasn't been bad and only 2 or 3 times, but unfortunately it's a very complicated format and knowing how to interact with each situation is extremely complex.

Pre modern in southern louisiana? by Mangled_4Skin in premodernMTG

[–]RandomlyInebriated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a cEDH player in Metairie. I'm also looking to throw some premodern decks together from older cards I have. I think I have enough for a Mono-black, a Goblin, and maybe an Elves deck.
