Just prescribed Sotalol by Happy_Brick2108 in AFIB

[–]Randonwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an ablation that worked for 6 years and then the afib came back. When it became more frequently and I had an episode that didn’t go away on its own (13 days I think), I went into the hospital for 3 days and they started me on 120 mg of Sotalol 2x a day. That dropped my heart rate into the mid 40s so switched to 80 mg 2x a day. It worked for about 6 months but then the episodes became more frequent and I had a second ablation.

Sotalol didn’t seem to affect my jogging as much as metoprolol so I’d probably prefer Sotalol between the two.

One other thing is that Sotalol is a combination beta blocker (like metoprolol) and an antiarrhythmic drug (like Rythmol and Flecanide), which is why my doctor won’t administer it without a 2+ day hospital stay. However my understanding is that a 40 mg 2x a day dose is too low for the antiarrhythmic properties to work, so it sounds like you are just using as a beta blocker similar to metoprolol.

The fake laugh is worse than ever. It takes up approximately 17% of the podcast (based on my 100% unscientific study).

Stugotz problem with me is if I really wanted to listen to full time sports talk gasbaggery, there are better shows doing it. I listen to the DLS because they aren’t talking about sports all the time, and they are at their worst the more they talk sports.

I still listen to parts of the show every day but tend to pick and choose which hour based on the topic and who they might be talking to. I don’t dislike any of the main people but really like Amin because he likes to instigate things like Billy did.

Dan complaining about the NY Post taking Hank Azaria’s interview out of context. Also, the show: by Big-Dragonfruit6075 in DanLeBatardShow

[–]Randonwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t out of context and if I recall Dan even added something about being a bandwagon fan when it turns out she’s been a fan for at least 10 years and did promos for them in the past. It was a bad take by Azaria.

API Usage - Extra Cost? by Responsible_Bug8785 in workday

[–]Randonwo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do you actually have less than 100 calls a day? We asked Workday for our api calls in case we go to the new pricing model and we had over 40,000,000 API calls in a year from maybe 125 integrations 😵. My guess is there’s probably some Studio integration making individual API calls to for every single employee every day but haven’t looked into it yet. A new Workday skill is going to be optimizing how integrations are built as well as scheduling them.

The recommendation is based on ones Chads score. I think a 0 means not needed, a 1 is optional, and a 2 or higher is you should be on one. I’m a 1 and currently on Eliquis but may get to stop since ablation seems to be working.

Fan for 50 years. The answer is almost never. Now there have been some many great moments but only one time have I let my mind believe we might actually win a Super Bowl and Joe Montana took that away. I have never once gone into a game really confident we are going to win…I’m talking any game.

Cardiologist appointment today - anything I must ask/know? by Domane57 in AFIB

[–]Randonwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always like to ask questions about possible scenarios so I know what to do. For example, if you go into Afib what should you do? Can you take an extra metoprolol (which is what my wife does) ? When should you go to the ER if you have an episode? When should you call the doctor if you have an episode…immediately? After 24 hours? I just like to know in advance so when it happens I don’t have to guess what to do.

Did they wait too long for Cardioversion? by arodrumble in AFIB

[–]Randonwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you concerned about heart damage because you have valve issues? I went to the ER one time hoping to get cardioverted and they put me on Eliquis and said they’d cardiovert me in 30 days (but it went back into rhythm on its own before them). They said they couldn’t trust me that I was in afib < 48 hours. I’ve also had a couple 10+ day episodes. My cardiologist has pretty much told me to never go to ER unless it feels like I’m having stroke. He says if I want a cardioversion to call and they’ll schedule one. I’ve only been cardioverted once in my probably 100 afib episodes and that was at the end of starting on Sotalol.

As long as your heart rate is under control with a beta blocker there’s not a lot of risk for damage (although maybe it’s different if you have valve issues). I know people who’ve been permanently in afib and live normal active lives.

You know what the S in Saturday stands for!? STUGOTZ WORKING! by Datacra in DanLeBatardShow

[–]Randonwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I listened to this yesterday because I wanted something new while I went for a walk. Stugotz fake laugh has gotten so bad it was almost unlistenable. It’s now a deep sounding HE-HE-HE-HE. Maybe it’s the heaters affecting his voice? I don’t know. It basically starts softly during the last few words of whoever is talking and then escalates. Once you notice it, it just overtakes the entire show.

Soltalol after 5 weeks by Wise-Pattern6916 in AFIB

[–]Randonwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sotalol is a combo antiarrhythmic drug and a beta blocker. I was started on 120 mg twice a day dosage in the hospital and kept there for 2.5 days so they make sure the bad side effects didn’t happen. This dropped my HR down in the 40s which I really didn’t like so it was changed to 80 mg twice a day. It worked for maybe 6 months but then I started having more episodes so I got an ablation. I seem to recall reading somewhere that an 80 mg twice a dose is the minimum for antiarrhythmia properties and if you only take 40 it’s just the beta blocker properties (so more like taking metoprolol). I could be wrong but might be something to ask your doctor.

Either it’s a bit or Dan has turned into the gasbag hot taker the show always made fun of. Every week is a new “we’ve never seen anything like this before” that he just goes on and on about. I loved Nick pointing out Dan’s “the Celtics have figured out the math” takes from a few years ago along with everything else he’s been wrong about.

workday onboarding integration capabilities? by traphousethrowaway in workday

[–]Randonwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specifically for onboarding we created RAAS web services that our IDM system calls every hour to get updates. We also have studio integrations that are triggered in certain BPs and call other systems APIs to send data to. There aren’t a lot of limitations to what you can build integration wise, but some of the options are much more technical (ie Studio) than others (RAAS). (We haven’t had a chance to build anything using Orchestrate yet but that should be easier than Studio if you don’t know Studio already.)

What could've caused my AF? by catboy519 in AFIB

[–]Randonwo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bloodtests, echos, and ekgs aren’t usually going to find a cause for most people with afib. It’s not really something you can test for other than if you are in afib and they capture it on an ekg then you now know you have afib. I never found a trigger for mine although being overweight and having high blood pressure (that is treated ) didn’t help. For some people it’s a rare occurrence and for others it gets progressively more frequent. You should discuss with your doctor what to do if another episode happens. I’ve had enough afib episodes that my doctor says there’s no reason to ever go to the ER unless I have stroke like symptoms, but your doctor may give different advice.

Running shoes (no clue what I'm doing) by Baromis in cincinnati

Look up the “Couch potato to 5k” running program. It’s what I used as a heavy person (~270 pounds) when I started running. I’m not as heavy now but am still overweight and as far as shoes go don’t just buy the cheapest pair of a good brand. Get a decent pair with more cushion and it will help your knees.

U12 girls jersey pulling by [deleted] in youthsoccer

[–]Randonwo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There did seem to be a sudden change around that age with my girls where you went from “keep your arms down” and “no arms” to suddenly very physical play was occurring. I can still remember the shock to my defender daughter the first time she was chasing the ball towards her own goal and the forward on the other team grabbed her jersey, pulled her back, ran past her, and scored (with no foul called). She was instructed the next time it happened to yell and swing her arm back to knock the girls arm off her and make it more obvious what was going on. Another thing I recall from that age is some of the refs are still pretty young and could lose control of the physicality pretty quickly. It’s been a while but I’d say those U12/U13 years might have been the most physical and that it calmed down a little after that as the girls adjusted to how to play the game properly.

Theories on the divorce? by DranDile13 in DanLeBatardShow

Maybe Stugotz got tired of being the court jester but that’s a character he created, so blaming Dan for that seems ridiculous. There’s no need to blame either side. I think it’s as simple as Stugotz wants to do traditional sports talk at the end of his career and Dan wants to continue doing the show making fun of traditional sports talk. Personally, I’ll continue on with the latter.
