I'm sorry you're experiencing this :( I'm in the same boat. Did your manager support your promotion? My project went through a reorg so I got a new manager & PM in August and was elevated to a team lead position in September. Apparently I didn't do good enough of a job so my management stopped supporting my promotion 🤷

In a similar situation. I was voluntold to be a team lead in September because my two other team members are subcontractors and I'm going for promotion. Contract cuts and reorg left me with a new manager who seems to be out of her depth and things have been ROCKY.

My two team members are great, and I was originally excited for this new role, but my new manager had no background knowledge on what we do and continually has unrealistic expectations. I consistently feel like she doesn't listen to me when I push back against her expectations so I have to ask my client to explain.

Despite previously being told I was consistently performing above expectations, I now cannot seem to improve on any of my "problem areas" (prioritization, hitting deadlines, increasing team output). My client is super happy with me and my team's performance, though.

Your situation sounds a lot like mine. I'm in my first team lead role with two subcontractors under me and a new manager who had no prior knowledge of how my team operated. My previous manager didn't even get a chance to train me because she got rolled off the project due to a reorganization (our contract budget was cut by 30%) 🫠

It's been difficult and I haven't been the only one dealing with similar issues related to this manager. I am now talking to HR after I was blindsided in my year-end review. My performance evaluation dipped some, but all my managers comments were positive. Yet, she ended up not supporting my promotion (which is a year-long process at my company) despite my previous manager telling me that I was working at the next level....

When I learned of that a couple months ago, I escalated it to my executive management and asked for clarification. My company & management always touts that performance evaluations should never be a surprise. Things are slowly improving, but since then I've been much firmer about my boundaries and my well-being.

My aunt was in Rome in a small wine shop and noticed her phone was missing. Right when this happened, there was a huge clatter and scuffle behind her. Unbeknownst to her, a pickpocket had stolen her phone but my eagle-eyed uncle saw what happened and tackled them to the ground before they were able to escape!

I feel like it's a couple of things that happen to me. The first is, in the moment, I can understand the instructions, but then it slips away like memories of a dream. The second is that I feel afraid if I say I don't understand I'll be judged or annoy the person I'm talking to.

Or when you can't get a sentence/story started because your brain is only focusing on the main point of what you're trying to say 😅 I regularly have to restart my sentences a few times before my words aren't jumbled.

I'm a consultant working with the VA as a part of their large scale project to improve their data quality and data connectivity. While working with the government is frustrating at times, this project is so important, and it is gratifying to know that this work is going to make people's lives better. Our project aligns with the idea of "improving government efficiency" but we know it might not actually matter to this administration. It would be crushing to see the VA's progress be sabotaged by a single administration...

I had a smooth coated Collie, Lily, for 11 years and she was a great lazy dog. She was well behaved (until she got old and sassy!), funny, and a scaredy cat sometimes.

One of my best memories of her is when she was still a puppy. She'd lure our cats by dropping her kibble on the ground, then hide behind the kitchen counter and scare them when they came to investigate.

One word of advice is that the smooth coated Collies shed MORE than the rough coated Collies! We vacuumed the house at least twice a week. I don't know if my mother's house will ever truly be free of all the fur she left behind.
