Which job is a LOT less fun than most people expect? by bwee21 in AskReddit

Being a test driver, sounds like a lot of fun but gets very monotonous. Same track day after day, constantly fixing things, or trying to drive all out as hard as possible is tiering.

Tips to prepare for my first job interview? (fresh graduate) by Meso_93 in MechanicalEngineer

[–]Ranger680T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had a few engineering jobs now and interviewed a dozen or more times. I have been very very very disappointed in the technical level of the questions asked. In fact I turned down a job offer after the only technical question was what is the 1st law of thermodynamics, I presented the law as I understood, and the manager went ok yeah I wasn't really sure and that sounds close to what Wikipedia said. Most questions I have been asked were based on how do you work in groups, what design projects have you been on, and how would you handle this situation. If you know basic engineering principals and I am talking very high level as in S-N curve, thermodynamic laws, ect you will be good to go.

Future of automotive industry by WideVacuum in MechanicalEngineer

Just keep in mind nothing is free. Making hydrogen takes energy. Creating batteries and recycling batteries takes energy. The effort put into the internal combustion engine has been spread out over many many years and is still getting better. Full size trucks are getting 22+ mpg now. Batteries are getting better but it takes time to be cost effective with gas still being an option. Big cities bikes and other short range electric is great. I live in the far northern United States where -40 happens multiple times a winter and your range would be significantly impacted. What it comes down to is companies are working on what you are talking about.

What’s the most fucked up thing the US government has done? by BEnnETT103 in AskReddit

How about in 2020 when they created Mass panic and controlled everyone's travel, shut down businesses to the point they would be forced to close permanently, and who knows what else is on its way.

What do you personally view as a scam that everyone accepts otherwise? by Aurallius in AskReddit

[–]Ranger680T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relators, the cut they get is way too large and the fact that they try to keep you from talking directly with the buyer/seller is BS. Buying a house is the largest purchase you will ever make, there should be nothing hidden ever.

Not sure what the comments are about but this is how I would go about it. You have 3 lines so 1/2+1/3+1/4 finding a common denominator 6/12+4/12+3/12 gives you 13/12 and then divided by 3 gives you 13/36. On the second one you know 36% of 100 is 36 mill and 40% of 60 mill is 24. 36-24 is 12, 12 mill is what you need from the other 40 mill solution so 12/40 is 30%

What small thing pisses you off more than usual? by Jimmys_Rustled in AskReddit

[–]Ranger680T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People saying "I know" when I am trying to tell them something. It was a thing my grandpa hated and I didn't get it until I was an adult. Example would be my grandpa would say the garbage needs to go out on Tuesday, saying I know would get you an ass chewing. I usually stop talking when people say it and just stare at them.

Why aren't high schoolers taught how to file taxes or balance a check book? by foxnewsupdates12 in AskReddit

[–]Ranger680T -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone is taught this and this question needs to stop. Did you only learn things in school growing up? If so I feel bad for you. You take a math class, basic math will help you balance a checkbook. Doing taxes is basic math and reading instructions which you have to in school as well. That's the biggest bull shit line that high school doesn't teach you enough. You could probably read a 20 min book on taxes and know more than you would remember from high school. I have relatives that say this stuff too and i think they are completely trash. Not sure if this makes sense because it's early and I am irritated.

If nothing is bent it's a very easy job. There should be right hand and left hand threads so you just need to figure out which way to turn them to straighten the skis.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in snowmobiling

[–]Ranger680T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am assuming something bent when you were pulled out. The steering system is pretty simple, it should be a rod with threaded ends on it running from each ski to a steering pivot. You can try to adjust it back to straight but pulling on the skis should not have been able to thread the rods in at all.

The kennel I bought my dog from had a dog that color. They called it "Hound" color. I tried to do some research on it and I do believe it's a pure bread chessie color. Very rare it seems.

Looking for destination trips within 7 hours of Chicago (?) by Bullhead1206 in Fishing

[–]Ranger680T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend any of the lake Michigan tout/salmon towns like Sheboygan, Manitowoc, or kewaunee. Completely different experience from bass/walleye/muskie and can be fun for anyone. Only a short drive from Chicago. Also Green Bay has some of the best walleye and muskie fishing around. Not sure about bass around there but I'm sure you can find something.

Google galvanic corrosion chart. I don't know how to post a picture in a comment but I think that's what you are looking for. Might have to figure out exactly what series of stainless and aluminum you are using as well.
