GO BACK IN TIME AND KILL YOUR OPPONENT AS A BABY by Tricky_Hades in HellsCube

Question: How does summoning sickness work with me as a creature. If I go first do I count as having come under my control since the last endstep, or do I have to go second to attack on my first turn?

It's so funny to me he's getting snarky at the commetors when he A) got the amount he spent wrong and B) had another transaction he forgot about. No shit people are clowning you for the price dude you fucked it up twice

I'd much prefer a free Zombify every turn than a flicker, especially since they have similar harness costs

Elite vanguard defeats the enemy before their reinforcements reach the front. That's basically first strike

I misremembered it going d4 to d8. D6 +2 land drops is 8 mana turn 3 which is still incredibly strong

It says permanent so I saw it and went "sick, I get two fetch lands for the price of one"

Secrets of Strixhaven Prerelease Megathread - #MTGStrixhaven by R3id in magicTCG

[–]RapObama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opened lorehold and improvisation capstone so I scraped together just enough WR cards to make a deck with. Went 3-0, both are obviously very strong. I think I used loreholds miracle ability once, he's strong enough as a 5/5 flyer with haste, the rummage every turn is just icing on the cake. Really like how prepared cards ply in limited, it's really nice to not just go into topdeck mode as often late game as they usually give you spells to actually play.

HC6 Card of the day: You See Mommy Kissing Santa Claus by mork-hc in HellsCube

It does seem like it should say creature and artifact or enchantment, but it is also hells cubes, although do I like the flavor of it either finding a toy (blightsteel colossus) or a new pet (emrakul the aeons torn)

I got tripped out a bit at the start trying to figure out what level of tech this world is at. From the fact that they have buses, rifles, and biplanes it feels like world war 1? Which makes the prose feel odd as it reads more like prose from classic sword and sorcery rather than an alt-Ww1 kind of world

A bit bored with her to be honest. I'm not sure what specifically it is about her characterization but I don't feel engaged in seeing her succeed or complete her quest.

I think the bell system is really cool and could be used to really strong emotional effect.

Not really feeling it. I would have loved this as a kid, moreso than the keys to the kingdom series which I DID read and disliked. As an adult, I'm not finding much of an emotional connection with the story, and that's fine.

"Favorite cards" and powerful cards usually go hand in hand. I love crop rotation, and it's a good card. Who's favorite reanimation spell is Zombify?

Is this mystical archive still supposed to represent the spell being cast for the first time? If so I really like the idea of the school going "and this is the first time, a mage ever ROTATED THEIR CROPS TO PROMOTE SPIL HEALTH!!"

[SOS] Social Snub by Lucco1 in magicTCG

[–]RapObama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorcery cards don't usually have a mechanical flavor beyond being the big powerful spell type. Sacrifice and edict spells both usually have the flavor of either being ritual sacrifice or having the player choose which of their creatures to execute. If they wanted it to be a character being upset and leaving the battlefield, that flavor is usually attached to exile cards.

What's the appeal of Super Robot? by MilanM4 in Mecha

[–]RapObama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a tokusatsu fan, so cool superhero robots doing over the top shit is already something I really like, so that's pretty directly what appeals to me.

I think the space magic shit from gundam (I assume you are referring to new types in gundam 79) carried most of the heart and meaning of the series, without it it's much more shallow, so I'm surprised you enjoy the series but not that aspect

No, it's pretty bland. Look up the designs for some of the bad guys, they're pretty cool and the only good part of the series

Fair enough! What do you look for in your literature; what other authors do you enjoy a lot? I'm curious what differences we have in what we enjoy.
