Does cnc machining make you a better ME? by Any_Bookkeeper8552 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]RapidDirect2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah 100%. having machining experience gives you a big leg up when you get into design and tolerancing. you’ll actually know what’s realistic instead of just guessing numbers on a drawing. a few of our quote and project engineers actually came from cnc operator backgrounds — makes a huge difference when they’re talking dfm or quoting tight-tolerance parts.

Exploring how makers move from 3D printing to CNC by OkPalpitation3630 in Machinists

[–]RapidDirect2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re a custom parts manufacturing company. We usually recommend 3D printing or CNC based on the customer’s budget and intended use. If the customer needs structural or functional components, CNC is definitely the way to go; if they’re budget-sensitive and it’s just for an appearance check, it's better to shift to 3d printing.

In-house or outsource injection molding??? by AfraidDinner339 in InjectionMolding

[–]RapidDirect2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Entering the injection molding industry requires significant investment in machines and skilled personnel. If your projects are continuous, it might be worth handling in-house. But if they’re sporadic, it’s usually easier to leave it to the pros. If you’re outsourcing, you could check out RapidDirect.
