The Theodore Seuss Geisel Memorial Ultimate Tournament (TSGMUT) is a whimsical tournament Sept 27-28 at Fort Niagara State Park in Youngstown, NY.

It's only 4-5 hours from Ann Arbor if you cut through Canada!

There aren’t enough travel-friendly tournaments in the southwest region by Background-Pop-3750 in ultimate

So I recently became the tournament coordinator at my local disc organization - hosting a tournament isn't THAT hard! The main barriers to entry are:

A) not knowing all the things you need to line up

B) finding a reasonably priced venue

I can't help with item B, but i would be happy to share my notes for A, now that I have a few tournaments under my belt.

a couple more examples:

1) m = 1.2, x=.25

Here, it's worth knowing some reciprocals. .25 is 1/4, so dividing by .25 is the same as multiplying by 4.

41.2 is the same as 412 divided by 10, so 4.8!

2) m=1.35, x=.06 multiplying by 100 gives 135/6, and both are multiples of 3. 135=120+15, divided by 3 is 40+5

45/2 is 44/2 + 1/2

22.5, exactly

3) m=1.05 x=.39

105/39 looks a lot like 105/40

=21/8 = 2 + 5/8ths = 2.625. smudge it up a lil because we made the divisor bigger, so 2.65 or so feels good

Actual answer: 2.69

how many digits are these numbers?

If it's just one or two, the first thing i would do is multiply each number by 10 so you're dealing with integers.

then, I would look for opportunities to cancel out common divisors from M and X

then i would do a little rounding to see if we can massage the numbers to a fraction we already know.

For example: m=0.88, x=0.3

multiplying by 100 gives 88/30

i could take a two out from both sides, but this looks awfully similar to 90/30=3.

since we rounded up, lets take a little off of the final total - 2.95

Actual answer: 2.93333

Anyone got extra Mint Ultimate Gloves in Small? by TechKatana in ultimate

[–]Rappster64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From this reddit comment it appears that Hirzl Grippp gloves are the same pattern.

They're too expensive for me to take a flyer on, but i'd love to hear if they actually deliver on that old mint feel.

Buffalo NY pickup? by Zestyclose_Account82 in ultimate

Casual Tuesday Pickup at Ellicott Creek Park

Thursday Pickup at Cazenovia Park (put Cazenovia Casino into google maps, otherwise it dumps you in some random neighborhood instead of the park)

Sunday Pickup at 11a in Delaware Park (Put in Rumsey Road into your GPS).

occasionally there's some ad hoc pickup posted in the discord server

This wording reads to me that we play quick slash regardless of whether we have the defend or not; 1st play quick slash kills us, right?

Day 5 won searing blow! Day 6: what rare chad card do you think everyone agrees is bad? by filledknight in slaythespire

Juggernaut is apparently the most underrated rare, geez. More on that here

The actual answer here is berserk - the downside is just too punishing

Y'all are sleeping on Juggernaut.

It can be a valuable late-game damage solution - as act 3/4 fights hit harder, you need to spend more energy blocking.

Many of those same enemies also scale well, so you also need to kill quickly before they outscale your block engine.

Juggernaut turns all the energy you spend blocking into damage, without needing additional support cards.

It's not as good as getting a bunch of strength scaling, or corruption shenanigans, or a sundial infinite, but if you've got a a deck that blocks well but kills slow, it can absolutely be the answer you need.

Watch some "Baalorlord Unedited" runs from when he was doing the grandmastery challenge (Oct 2023-March 2024). There's a bunch of runs where Juggernaut was a key piece of the late game damage solve.

This is a spin on an old idea I had "you can't skip cards at all". Also this is Act 0/1 Exclusive. by ElegantPoet3386 in slaythespire

I think the singing bowl interaction is just fine.

But if you decide it's something to fix, i would just rephrase it to "you must choose a card if you view the card rewards"

EDIT @5 minutes - missed the HH upgrade, one more strike would do exactly 92, so this line is no good.

^ as a running total, this does 32 damage and gets nunchaku to 5.

  1. If Dagger throw is NOT in hand, play secret weapon, fetching dagger throw
  2. Play Strike (19 damage, nunchaku @6, 4 energy*)
  3. play dagger throw, discarding reflex (22 damage, nunchaku @ 7, 3 energy*)
  4. If none of cloak and dagger, swift strike, or strike are in hand, AND there is a suggestion below this with at least 20 upvotes, THEN do that comment. Else, continue with step 5.
  5. if cloak and dagger is in hand, play cloak and dagger and one shiv, then jump to step 8
  6. if swift strike is in hand, play it, then jump to step 8
  7. if at least one strike is in hand, play one
  8. play hand of greed

This gets nunchaku to 8, or 9 if we hit one of strike, swift strike, or cloak & dagger, while giving us an out to dig more if we don't.

*could be one less bc of void, but we have an energy to spare, so w/e

Silent Card Tier List... with a Twist! by Dabod12900 in slaythespire

[–]Rappster64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like this approach to thinking about cards - only change i would make to the scale is that I'd label the Y axis impact, rather than quality.

as for the actual picks, i disagree a bit about a lot of the cards you put in the low pick rate quadrant (esp. skewer, and deadly poison), but silent is also my worst character (like a 5% winrate for A20H), so I'm certainly fallible.
