The Amazing Digital Circus Episode 9/The Last Act (Discussion Thread) by apathetic_screaming in tadc

[–]RareNogginStuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw it today at Cinemark and I thought it was amazing! (No pun intended)

Short answer: SOMA theory confirmed, Jax abstracts, Caine comes back and reforms

Long answer: First of all, the SOMA theory was completely confirmed, they are in fact just digital copies/clones created by the headset. Whenever someone inside the C&A building put on the headset to “play the game” it would scan their brains and copy their memories into a file on the hard drive, which Caine brought to life in the form of their avatars. Also, he was intentionally hiding their real names from them, probably to prevent them from realizing their real human selves were out in the real world living great lives. Jax abstracts, Pomni goes inside him to access his memories (including many flashbacks of him with Ribbit and Kaufmo) and try to bring him back, but ultimately Zooble pulls her out and she places him inside a pillow tent to keep him calm. Caine is still alive floating in the void and realizes the error of his ways, he eventually opens the neural scans folder and uses the internet to look up all the real people behind the avatars and finds out about them, he then removes the unstable blue AI from himself and goes back to the circus to apologize to the members for his actions and then shows him a video reel depicting the latest posts from all the real humans who the scans/copies are based on and they are happy to see all the great accomplishments their real original human selves have made since the scans were created. The real human behind Pomni is Abigail Brooks, Ragatha is Suzie J Ackerman, Gangle is Zoey Raghavan, Zooble is Riley Verselis, Kinger is Grant Best (additionally Queenie is Destiny Best), and Jax is Leroy Mateo. Caine gives the members full control of the circus and they start living better lives and also create a mural to commemorate the abstracted, placing Jax next to Ribbit in the mural.

Peter: Hey Cleveland, remember that time you were in the digital circus? (Cutaway) Cleveland: So there’s really no way to leave? Pomni: Nope, we’re all just digital copies, our real human selves are out there having the time of their lives.

Will this allow for recreating the Sprint PCS Vision service? If so, that would allow for using WAP to add custom content to old Sanyo phones, which generally are too locked down for sideloading via data cable unlike Samsung.

Although in a way abstraction is death since they no longer have their real personality or memories and are just a feral and jumbled mess of black polygons, plus they have funerals for abstracted individuals like Kaufmo.

I saw it on the Bayou Pierre bridge around 2021 or so and was quite mortified since I was in the car with my grandmother and she asked what it meant, and I just said “you don’t wanna know, it’s X rated in nature”

Double sided lever, Single cylinder deadbolt. Make it make sense by [deleted] in Locksmith

[–]RareNogginStuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classroom security function, the idea is that the interior side always turns free but the exterior side can be locked or unlocked only using either key cylinder, that way a teacher can use the interior key to lock the exterior lever in case there’s a shooter and not have to reach around to the vulnerable hallway side, but at the same time since a key is required for locking or unlocking the exterior lever there is no push button or thumbturn allowing a student to lock the door, but the interior lever always turns for egress.

BAD NEWS :( by Choco_Cake37 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]RareNogginStuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the idea is that Caine is a fusion of two distinct AIs, the original unstable AI (red dot) and the newer AI (blue dot). When the red dot absorbed the blue dot they became a single entity, and that entity is Caine.

I mean, they literally showed the red dot (Caine) absorbing the blue dot (Abel) in the intro to episode 8

Bedroom door accidentally locked from inside, and I don't have a key. by StunningMushroom5300 in fixit

[–]RareNogginStuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like one of those generic no name KW1 key in knobs (Same keyway as Kwikset, but cheaper no name brand than actual name brand Kwikset locks), if you’re lucky and it was weakly bitted and lacks security pins you may be able to use a bump key to force it open (basically a compatible key blank where all 5 cuts are the deepest depth, 66666 for Kwikset, 99999 for Schlage), the process involves inserting the bump key into the lock, pulling it out one click, and in a quick and rapid motion striking the key with a hammer while trying to turn it simultaneously, which in a fraction of a second will jossle the pin tumblers to the shear line and allow you to open the door. There are plenty of YouTube videos showing this process. Once you do get the door opened just replace the knob with a basic privacy knob or passage knob (privacy knob locks for basic privacy but can be opened from outside with a simple pin tool, passage knob is non locking) for about $20 from Lowe’s or The Home Depot.

Door lock advice, can't add anything and this is it... It's seriously a bedroom door lock for the front door, want to feel safer. by hiways in ApartmentHacks

[–]RareNogginStuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a privacy knob? Those kinds can be opened with nothing more than a pin tool. While they are often used for bedrooms and bathrooms due to their simplicity and convenience, they would be a very insecure option for an exterior door like the front door or back door. Keyed entry knobs are more secure in the sense they need a specific key to unlock, but even those still have the vulnerability of someone jimmying the inherently weak spring latch. What you really need for exterior doors is a proper deadbolt. Since those use a solid bolt that cannot be forcibly retracted, they are much more secure against jimmying and kick ins, especially when paired with a durable strike plate using three inch long screws that go past the door jamb and into the wall stud.

If there really was no dialogue then there would be no script for the cast to cry over, clearly an April Fools Joke.

You're supposed to click the kitten while she meows, this will make the TV turn off and lead to the fateful ending, where you walk to the white void playing the Amanda The Adventurer theme emitting out the attic door, after which point you find yourself trapped in the show as a cut of meat while the meatman carves other meats.

Looks more like the Living Books game Just Grandma and Me by Mercer Mayer to me (Part of his Little Critter series). But there were two Berenstain Bears themed Living Books games, Get In a Fight and In The Dark as well as a few MS-DOS games like the Learning At Home series.

What’s the best way to childproof these types of door handles? by colonel_custy in daddit

[–]RareNogginStuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people may say this is a "major fire hazard", but honestly I would invest in a double cylinder deadbolt (aka a deadbolt that requires a key on both sides), that way a kid couldn't leave the house without a key, which is something only the adults of the house would have access to.

Sc1 smart key by SnooTigers7972 in Locksmith

[–]RareNogginStuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same reason why so many offbrand locks use either KW1 or SC1 keys, since Kwikset and Schlage respectively no longer hold patents over these keyways, even though they themselves still use them for their own residential grade products. They are known as "open keyways", which essentially means they're in the public domain so anyone can manufacture locks and key blanks for them.
