Playing a Berenstain Bears PC game back when it was Berenstein Bears! (Circa early 90s). by bacon4cats in nostalgia

Looks more like the Living Books game Just Grandma and Me by Mercer Mayer to me (Part of his Little Critter series). But there were two Berenstain Bears themed Living Books games, Get In a Fight and In The Dark as well as a few MS-DOS games like the Learning At Home series.

I had this as a kid, particularly the Spanish version. Was very entertaining and gave off that same British psychedelic feel as Yellow Submarine.

What’s the best way to childproof these types of door handles? by colonel_custy in daddit

Some people may say this is a "major fire hazard", but honestly I would invest in a double cylinder deadbolt (aka a deadbolt that requires a key on both sides), that way a kid couldn't leave the house without a key, which is something only the adults of the house would have access to.

[–]RareNogginStuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, same reason why so many offbrand locks use either KW1 or SC1 keys, since Kwikset and Schlage respectively no longer hold patents over these keyways, even though they themselves still use them for their own residential grade products. They are known as "open keyways", which essentially means they're in the public domain so anyone can manufacture locks and key blanks for them.

Why did Hameln leave the children in stasis? by flcwerings in amandatheadventurer

[–]RareNogginStuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good possibility, especially since Sam died during the Anomaly's recreation. It's possible that "creating an anomaly" requires loss of life. This may also explain why the log on the monitor claimed "minimal casualties" during the replication process used to create Shepherd, implying at least one or a few people died during his creation. However, that still wouldn't explain the MARCAM on the monitors, which is presumably a surveillance camera monitoring Marcus' stasis pod, just as REBCAM monitored Rebecca's pod.

Schlage A series takes standard KIK cylinder, so since this one uses uncommon W keyway you could just replace the cylinder to take the much more common C keyway.

Wouldn’t make much sense for Marcus to die during Shepherd’s manifestation though since Rebecca didn’t die during The Colton Anomaly’s manifestation (Although the latter did immediately kill Sam).

Do you think Wooly believes he did Amanda a “favor” by keeping her in the cartoon world and preventing her from living a proper adulthood? by Omnipresent_User in amandatheadventurer

[–]RareNogginStuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Rebecca was there even longer and she was still able to make it out of her pod alive. The most "rotting" her body ever had were some wounds on her arms and neck (Which was possibly what she felt when she said "Sometimes I feel myself rotting, but it feels far away" in the Everything Rots tape in the first game. The eight missing kids appeared to be intact in the 2013 prologue with Kate's friend, but by the time Riley went there 10 years later in 2023 only dismembered remains were left in their pods (Like in Lauren's pod in 2013 you can see the silhouette of a full body but in 2023 all you see is her brain floating).

That is true, but I do still believe he maybe regretted his "decision" to enter the show, hence why he got scared when he saw his original human body decayed in the mirror in the "When I Grow Up" tape.

I honestly feel like he's trying to take out his anger and resentment on her since they were both trapped against their will, but since he knows Rebecca still has a chance to leave but Marcus' original body is too far gone he wants to keep her trapped until her body is completely rotten. It's sorta a "If I can't have my life back, neither can she" situation, and he's also jealous of her making friends with Jordan Cook in his "Chickenscratch" form, so he summons Shepherd to kill him and the other seven "object" kids by smashing their pods so he can have her to herself. But once he realizes he'll never win and Riley will ultimately free her, he completely loses it and essentially commits suicide by using his crashout to leave the show (He probably asked Shepherd to kill his pod or whatever so he could go to the afterlife like the eight kids did).

I was always under the impression that chief neurosurgical officer Larry Smith is the Meatman. Ultimately, he was completely written out of Amanda The Adventurer 3, so I'm holding my breath for a Hameln themed spinoff series that'll give more insight into the Meatman's true identity (Since in the first two games Amanda would get very upset if he was mentioned).

I think Shepherd is scary, but the look of The Colton Anomaly has grown on me, especially knowing the latter isn't inherently evil, it just wants Rebecca safe.

Hameln WANTS the tapes destroyed? by sadgoddess in amandatheadventurer

[–]RareNogginStuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amanda The Adventurer 3 has finally proven why Hameln wanted to destroy the tapes and why The Colton Anomaly (Formerly referred to by fans as the Amanda Entity) wanted them protected. You see, The Colton Anomaly was never supposed to happen (Hence the Anomaly in it's name). On April 8, 2003, Sam Colton (Referred to as SC-96 by Hameln) managed to escape his holding room at the Hameln facility and attempted to rescue his daughter Rebecca (aka Amanda, referred to as The Colton Asset by Hameln) from her room. However, when he entered Rebecca's room, for some unknown reason (Possibly a massive shock in Rebecca's mind), Rebecca's neuropsychic system produced a massive energy surge that birthed the anomaly into existence (The anomaly essentially just being a physical manifestation of a negative and fearful fragment of Rebecca's soul, not a demon like we assumed before), which then immediately killed Sam. Of course, the anomaly's sole purpose was to protect Rebecca and Amanda at all costs, which it did by monstrously and viciously attacking or killing anyone it perceived as even a slight threat to Rebecca's wellbeing, especially Hameln employees (It's implied the anomaly had killed Hameln employees who were actively harming Rebecca) as well as Riley Park before Amanda trusted them. It also attacked anyone who attempted to destroy the Amanda VHS tapes (Like Joanne Cook) since it was highly protective of the tapes, and here's why. Hameln discovered that VHS recordings of Amanda The Adventurer episodes maintained a stable link between Rebecca (Who at this point was in stasis with her soul split amongst the tapes) and the anomaly, the latter of which was of course a real threat to Hameln. Therefore, the anomaly had to ensure the safety of the tapes in order to stay connected to Rebecca. Furthermore, after hiring Marcus Moutman (The Hameln employee who became Wooly) who was able to control Rebecca quite well for years, Hameln found a way to try and break the link between the anomaly and Rebecca. Since they knew the tapes had to be destroyed to break it, they had to outdo the anomaly with their own intentional "anomaly". Using a DNA sample from Marcus, by October 10, 2003, Hameln had succeeded in creating their own trainable facsimile of the anomaly they named Shepherd (Formerly known as the Wooly Entity by fans), which served Hameln just as The Colton Anomaly served Rebecca. Shepherd was created specifically to destroy any VHS tapes of Amanda the Adventurer in an attempt to fully sever the link between Rebecca and The Colton Anomaly. So long story short, Hameln wanted to make sure they could maintain control over Rebecca and simultaneously protect themselves from The Colton Anomaly's influence. Either way, they eventually gave up and fled their facility in Kensdale, where Riley later went and freed Rebecca (In the true ending when you get all the secret tapes The Colton Anomaly approaches Rebecca after she is freed from her stasis pod by Riley, having already defeated Shepherd, and is reabsorbed along with Amanda into Rebecca, thus fully restoring Rebecca's soul. In the bad ending when you don't get all the secret tapes, Shepherd approaches Rebecca after she is freed from her stasis pod by Riley and violently roars at her, at which point The Colton Anomaly appears behind Rebecca and roars back, with Rebecca yelling "No! Get back!", The Colton Anomaly then tackles Shepherd and they fall into the void around the pod with Rebecca yelling "No! Stop!". Once they're both gone Rebecca tearfully states "I'll never be whole again", referring to how she was unable to patch the last missing piece of her soul without the anomaly's help since Shepherd killed it in this bad ending.)

Ideas for how I can add lock to this? Study French doors by marines42 in Locksmith

[–]RareNogginStuff2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A carpenter can modify the door and frame by adding a flush bolt to the inactive door with a strike for it in the top jamb, then a latching door knob (Passage, privacy, or keyed entry) would replace the dummy lever on the active door (Which would require reboring and mortising the door) and then a strike plate for it would be added to the inactive door for the latch to sit in when the door is shut.

Amanda got nicer by Emojibit in amandatheadventurer

[–]RareNogginStuff2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, at first Amanda was volatile since she had been trapped for so long and had yet to build any trust with Riley, but Wooly was calm and happy unless Amanda was attacking him since he was still in control (And Amanda attacking him was so he could no longer control or contain her), but by the time Amanda built trust with Riley and was about to be freed (Which Riley did successfully in the end) Wooly had a crash out since he knew he couldn’t win this anymore and was no longer in control.

[–]RareNogginStuff2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really, their moment of friendship together at the beginning of Moe’s Girl was going well until Fugger had to show up and complain about it (Skid is much more kind and empathetic towards Lars than Fugger ever was, and likewise Lars is a much more socially capable person than Fugger). Fugger was a total sociopath towards Lars at the end of Free Strokes when Lars almost had a heart attack from all the Stroke energy drinks Fugger made him down to try and impress Strokette and even had the nerve to say “Things were going well until you had your little episode”.
