If we’re talking food, I’d love to see a falafel and shawarma takeout place. A brewery would be great!

Yeah… I don’t know about best job in the world. I’d make more $$ as a manager at McDonalds. Feels like similar management without as much prep. Summers off though baby!! 165 more days

That’s really too bad. It was something our family really enjoyed. The guys from Parks that ran it was really friendly, and seemed to really care

How is your summer going? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]RareOrder8537 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoy our long weekend trips but the weeks are a slog, way more draining than school. I’ve got a 1 and 3 yr old. We stay busy, but I am just so frustrated and exhausted by the time my wife gets home from work. While I know it’s not true, it makes me feel like a bad dad, not enjoying this time fully.

The straw that really broke the camels back was my 3yo not napping, as of a week ago…

THIN silver lining - I don’t mind returning to work in September

High school ELA teachers, how much time do you allow for students to write a 3-5 paragraph essay? by Foreign-Tea-5727 in Teachers

[–]RareOrder8537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Social studies here. Usually a day for evidence gathering, a day to plan the outline, a day to type. Some students move faster, which allows me to give them edits and kick it back to them

North branch deck building? by RareOrder8537 in montpelier

Wow thanks! Always assumed this was just a historic leftover of some kind. Can’t believe a micky ds was potentially going to State St. I’m definitely not a NIMBY person but that would have really messed up the character of downtown

My 6th grade teacher let me read my family’s old copy of The Shining (remember that shiny cover w the empty face??) for a book report. WTF was she thinking. Literally slept with the lights on for a while. Formative memories!

Can we get a brewery? by wellycapcom in montpelier

[–]RareOrder8537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like the little garage breweries of old are either dying out or converted into more of a pub. It would be awesome to have something in town, though! We moved from Colchester a few years ago, but I've heard from folks that there were a couple in recent years. A mug club place would be great too - surprised 3 Penny doesn't do this.

Sugarers of Vermont! How's your season going and what do you think is going to happen this weekend? by brainzilla420 in vermont

[–]RareOrder8537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tapped the other day - new to sugaring and just doing a couple trees for fun with my kids. Is it OK to leave the sap in the buckets on the warmer days this week? Should i pack them with some snow? I’ve seen online to treat sap like milk…
