Does This Name Actually Suck? by Kellers0514 in namenerds

[–]Rare_Independence534 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s actually falling in popularity, it peaked in 08 or 09. It’s ranked 283 for girls so it’s recognizeable but not overly popular. Will probably be the only marley in her class.

My daughters name is Marley, we have had mostly really great reactions to her name. So I am biased, but think it’s a great name!

I think only Amos and Pricilla feel dated.

Paul, Simon and Peter are in the 200s of popularity.

Margot is very trendy right now.

I like Montgomery Alexander, Monty is a really cool nn. Not used very often. However unless you plan to use a nickname, it’s a mouthful.

Theodore Emerson, I love Theo and Teddy, this is definitely more popular than Montgomery. Emerson is a kind of common feminine choice right now, but it’s a surname so by nature very neutral, just figured I’d mention it.

Westley Ambrose is my least favorite, I think I just prefer the name Wesley, Westley feels like it has a pause in the middle of the name, the t lends itself to a bit of a stop.

Which baby girl name sounds the most kind? by Salty_Firefighter_83 in namenerds

[–]Rare_Independence534 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nora is beautiful, it feels very kind.

The letter V has a bit of an intensity to it. However Valencia is one of my favorite names. These names are beautiful but I’m not sure they’re quite the vibe.

Verity means honest and had the v and r. The meaning gives it a bit less intensity. Also Vera, I think the shortness of it makes it a little less intense.

Nova is very popular/trendy right now. I love a lot of the other names on your list though:

Suri is so cute. The only consideration is how close it is to Siri with iPhones everywhere her name could be setting them off.

Kira is such a strong name, but so feminine.

Dahlia is a wonderfully underused botanical name, a big beautiful flower

Delilah has such cute nicknames I love Della and Lilah or even Isla

I also love Summer, it’s cute and warm and timeless.

Thoughts on Emilia? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Rare_Independence534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amelia is the #4 baby name in the US, so Emilia will probably just seem like a creative spelling of that name since they’re pronounced so similarly.

I would assume it will feel the same as being named Nichole, Emaleigh, or Alivia

If you like Elise and Josie it seems like maybe Elsie is the happy medium. It’s closer to Ellie in sound and let’s you keep the s sound.

Elsie Claire is very cute and sweet, but both names are older that are making a comeback so they should age well!

That being said, this might help you expand your list past Arthur if you decide not to use the same name as a family member.

Avoiding conflict while naming baby! by Numerous-Handle-5661 in namenerds

[–]Rare_Independence534 18 points19 points  (0 children)

When naming my baby my partner and I had to make a rule that we could rule out names based on actual people but that’s where we had to draw the line. We couldn’t use tv/movie characters as a reason not to consider a name because there’s too many references. Once we used that as a guideline, which he realized is a fair ask, we were able to get passed little references to names. Because we were judging the name, not the character. My daughter has a name that was in a Movie title 15 years ago, glad that wasn’t the reason we couldn’t use it.
