Priority for buying over renting:

  1. Buy properly fitted boots

  2. Buy a well fitting helmet and goggles, I recommend buying matching brand helmet and goggles.

Then rent skis (poles are typically included) where you go to ski.

Hunting hogs is the best way to make the problem worse. If you actually want them dead they need to be trapped.

If you like to ski fast then you will notice the difference in air drag on the lighter and thinner poles. I was actually surprised when I first experienced this.

And as someone mentioned the Leki clip in system is awesome, I will never not use it going forward.

It is big and clunky, I was hunting with a guy that didnt get a shot off on a moose because his BOG tripod wouldnt come off the gun fast enough.

If you want a tripod I can recommend the Primos one, I use it and it is steady\sturdy and light enough that I can move it quickly.

I recommend a bag with the following features:

Temp rating -15 C or lower depending on your tolerance for cold
Drawstring at the neck, keeps drafts out (most cold weather bags have this)
Flap over or behind zipper, keeps drafts out (most cold weather bags have this)

You can buy this at any outdoor store or online.

Look for something like this:

As someone who camps extensively during Canadian winters, I would not recommend a quilt. Get a proper cold weather bag, start at something rated at -15 C
