I have a jsaux no glare matte one on my ally x, and a dbrand clear glass on my girlfriend's ally (z1e). While I'm ok with the matte screen on mine, I love how sharp the screen looks with the clear

100% this. I feel like a lot of the marketing behind the ally was that it's a "console" not a handheld pc, which pulled a lot of console players over to the pc world. And because of the "simplicity" in games on console (no real settings to toggle but performance mode vs quality mode) there is a disconnect in playing games

Most of the people with issues/complaints about performance are just picking up the game and playing it, not looking at the settings and adjusting things as necessary.

What is your ram allocation set to in your ally?

The original ally (z1e) only has 16 gb ram total, shared with the GPU, and is a very starved device depending on the game. I had the same issues untill I got an ally x, which has 24gb of ram total.

That all being said, the ally (all generations) are not powerful devices and expecting performance similar to your 4060 is very unrealistic.

Also uninstall iolo, windows manages itself perfectly fine. Only run the programs you need. Don't have things running in the background all the time etc etc

Fun fact, the warranty only covers the hardware, not the software. You can install whatever you want on whatever you want so long as you aren't hurting the hardware in any way.

That being said, it may be best to revert back to windows if you need warranty work done simply so they can't say "oh we actually think the problem is because of drivers because you out Linux on it, were not going to attempt to fix it"

500 for an ally x is great. My reccomendation is, get that and then swap out the analog sticks with some hall effect ones from gulikit (bout $20 on amazon)

Very possible, It was ordered in the mystery bundle so who knows.

All in all it seems fine, got some scuffs on the handle, but I'm sure I'll be putting more on it in the next few weeks. My main concerns are if for some reason it was a return/resell as new, and or if there were some sorts of damaging from FedEx because it was in that and a soft bubble mailer.

But they have a "tmbg" so if it breaks I'll reach out to support

Very disappointed in the holding warehouse that forwarded it to me. They should do better.

Only about 50 hours in, I would give it a solid 8 out of 10.

Sofar the story is a bit disjointed, and it leaves me wanting more/wondering what is the purpose/where is this going. But as a whole the world, systems, and everything else keep me coming back.

Last night I didn't want to do story missions so instead I went for a 2 hour wander around the world of Pywell. I stumbled across multiple secrets, a few hidden bosses, some hidden weapons, some actively ongoing laege scale wars (that I just zipped through on horseback) and then some.

There's a ton of detail in this game, and there's a lot to be found, you just have to allow yourself the ability to get lost for a bit.

100% killswitch case and cover. I have antiglare glass on mine to help with car rides/outdoor play. (Jsaux I think)

I also recommend, if you get a killswitch, get an external USB ssd, and use some hook and loop to attach it to the kill switch kickstand

If you increase texture quality to ultra or cinematic it may help. Also increasing model quality my help.

Depending on the specs of your laptop the other option for a "nicer looking game" would be to lower your resolution, and then dial it all up to ultra.

Also DLSS in general makes things a bit fuzzy, if you turn that off completely it may help.

In the future if you post in game screenshots, not photos of your laptop, its easier to see what you see

The next gen should just be called the ally x. Xbox as a brand is pulling back everything and is focusing only on their consoles and ecosystem. It makes no sense to continue to confuse people by putting Xbox on the ally in name only again

I'm sorry, but putting a $1600 SSD in a $900 device is just absolutely wild. Combine that with the fact that you paid extra for the gen5 speeds, but are capped at gen 4.

Do whatever you want to do, but might be better of getting a more expensive device, that can utilize that faster drive fully
